    GRADE 12

    PARENT INFORMATION

    EVENING

  • PSALM 8PSALM 8 DIE BOODSKAP – ‘N PSALM

    VAN DAWID

As ek opkyk na alles wat U in die

hemelruim gemaak het – al die planete,

    melkwegstelsels en miljoene sterre, dan

snak ek na my asem as ek sien hoe

piepklein die mens regtig is. En tog,

hoeveel gee U nie om vir hierdie piepklein

mensie nie! Dink net: U sorg vir hom. Hy

is vir U belalangrik. U het hom so

    belangrik gemaak dat hy amper soos U is;

    U behandel hom soos ‘n koning; U gee ‘n

baie hoë posisie aan hom. U wil hê dat

die mens oral moet wys hoe groot U is.

    Hy is mos U verteenwoordiger.

U laat hom soos ‘n groot leier regeer oor

U handewerk. Hy moet vir alles sorg wat

U gemaak het. Veral die diere is van hom

    afhanklik. Here, God, hoe groot is U nie;

U word oor die hele aarde geprys!

    PSALM 8 THE MESSAGE – A DAVID

    PSALM

I look up at your macro-skies, dark and

    enormous, your handmade sky-jewellery,

moon and stars mounted in their settings.

Then I look at my micro-self and wonder,

Why do you bother with us?

Why take a second look our way?

Yet we’ve so narrowly missed being gods,

    bright with Eden’s dawn light.

You put us in charge of your handcrafted

world, repeated to us your Genesis-

charge. Made us lords of sheep and

cattle, even animals out in the wild,

    Birds flying and fish swimming,

whales singing in the ocean deeps.

    GOD, brilliant Lord,

Your name echoes around the world.
