Rivers Project by Year 6 On the 23rd of January, after school, we had the winter parties for theprimary children. There were approximately 180 children divided in three parties. Wehad a big bouncy castle in the foyer, three clowns, and party games forthe EYF children and karaoke competition for KS1 and KS2. For theolder children the karaoke was the most exciting activity. As for theyounger ones the bouncy castle was the favourite. The parties endedwith the children getting a bag of sweets. It was good to see all thosesmiling faces. We give our most sincere thank you to all the parents and teachersthat help supervising the three parties. Without you we couldn’t havedone it.

As an EAL teacher I thought it would be a great idea to have a parent open day. I wanted the parents to come to our English lesson,to see how a real lesson goes, how the children are taught and how much fun we have... And a good idea that was! Instead of oneopen day, I had two! At the first parents from year 3 were invited and at the second one year 4 parents came.
News from the EAL Department!!! Parent Open Day!
Mums, dads and grandmas were very curious and extremely excited to seetheir own children "in action" and the children were so eager and proud toshow them everything they have learnt! It was a wonderful day! All the parents told me what a great experience theopen day was for them and how interesting it was to see their children froma totally different perspective. And....as far as I am concerned....I have amessage to send:
"GOOD JOB, MY LITTLE SQUIRRELS! I AM PROUD OF YOU!"

Year 3 and some lucky, gifted and talented children with Mrs Carey went to see someamazing inventions by Leonardo Da Vinci. These were recreations of his ideas with thechildren free to touch and look at 50 different models. The children learnt about howadvanced he was for his day. The English speaking guide provided the children with lotsof useful facts. The children then decided it would be great to buy the DVD of the exhibition, so thatother classes could perhaps see it during a Design and Technology Lesson. The guidecommented on the children's excellent behaviour during the tour so well done Year 3and their guests.

Half Term Holiday
Mission Completed! Space Camp Turkey is one of the three youth spacecamps in the world. The other two are in the U.S. andCanada. We went on a fantastic space mission with 13 studentsfrom primary and secondary school between the 5th
and 9th February. Children enjoyed learning aboutspace shuttles, how astronauts are trained, spacehistory, technology and the development of spaceprogrammes.
Here is Kate’s (year9) report of her outer space adventure: Overall, I thought that space camp was really fun! We were kept busyevery day and had a lot of creative activities. I really liked that wewere able to connect with kids from other countries. There was a biggroup of students from an International School from Saudi Arabia, so Idefinitely have friends from around the world now!
