At the river they engaged in practical activities linked to Maths, such as measuring the width of the river. They also learned how to measure the rate of flow of the river. They noted how the river environment in town is made up of apartments and various businesses. The pupils enjoyed this quick action packed trip. Classes 6H and 6F will be undertaking this trip in March. Gordon Hamilton Humanities Coordinator Rivers Project by Year 6 On the 23 rd of January, after school, we had the winter parties for the primary children. There were approximately 180 children divided in three parties. We had a big bouncy castle in the foyer, three clowns, and party games for the EYF children and karaoke competition for KS1 and KS2. For the older children the karaoke was the most exciting activity. As for the younger ones the bouncy castle was the favourite. The parties ended with the children getting a bag of sweets. It was good to see all those smiling faces. We give our most sincere thank you to all the parents and teachers that help supervising the three parties. Without you we couldn’t have done it. As an EAL teacher I thought it would be a great idea to have a parent open day. I wanted the parents to come to our English lesson,to see how a real lesson goes, how the children are taught and how much fun we have... And a good idea that was! Instead of oneopen day, I had two! At the first parents from year 3 were invited and at the second one year 4 parents came.

News from the EAL Department!!! Parent Open Day!

Mums, dads and grandmas were very curious and extremely excited to seetheir own children "in action" and the children were so eager and proud toshow them everything they have learnt!  It was a wonderful day! All the parents told me what a great experience theopen day was for them and how interesting it was to see their children froma  totally  different  perspective.  And....as  far  as  I  am  concerned....I  have  amessage to send:

"GOOD JOB, MY LITTLE SQUIRRELS! I AM PROUD OF YOU!"

Year 3 and some  lucky, gifted and  talented children with Mrs Carey went  to see someamazing  inventions by Leonardo Da Vinci. These were recreations of his  ideas with thechildren  free  to  touch and  look at 50 different models. The children  learnt about howadvanced he was for his day. The English speaking guide provided the children with lotsof useful facts.                     The children  then decided  it would be great  to buy  the DVD of  the exhibition,  so  thatother  classes  could perhaps  see  it during  a Design  and  Technology  Lesson.  The  guidecommented on  the children's excellent behaviour during  the  tour  so well done Year 3and their guests.
