Introduction:

The rubber industry in the world made its beginning in 1887. It was because of the

invention of the processing of rubber vulcanization by Charles Goodyear. The growth of the

industry, however received a good boost by century end, when John Boyd Dunlop succeeded in

making of vulcanized rubber tyres into inflatable pneumatic tyres. Since then the tyre industry

has continued to be a major segment of rubber industry all over the world.

Even in India, automobile tyre and tubes account for a major part of Indian Rubber

product industry.

Joel Kipnis (known to most in the recording industry simply as JK ) is a producer, writer,

soul/R&Bguitarist and owner of New York City recording studio, Pulse, Joel has written and

produced records with Herbie Hancock, John Forte (Fugees producer ), Soul II Soul, The

Temptations, Jennifer Love Hewitt,[2]

Syleena Johnson, Pete Belasco and others.[4]

He has also

produced and written TV commercials for Chevrolet, Kodak, Pepsi and Coca-Cola, among other

recognized brands.

Product

VIKRANT TYRES LIMITED (VTL) is engaged in design, development. Manufacturing and

marketing automotive pneumatic tyres, tubes. The product range includes the following.

Automobile tyre (Nylon tube, radial tube tyre and tubeless) tubes and flaps.

JK12-VTU is engaged in design development manufacturing and marketing automotive and

marketing automotive pneumatic tyres, tubes, the product range includes the following.

y Cross ply & radial tyres& buses.

y Cross ply & radial tyres for light commercial vehicles.

y Cross ply tyres off the road vehicles.

y Automotive inner tubes for trucks, buses light commercial vehicle.

y Flaps of trucks, buses and light commercial vehicles.

Functional Departments

Production Department:

The production department has 1532 workers who are looking after production of tyres,tubes&

Flaps at VTP.VTP presently has a production capacity of 10.30 lakhs tyres per annum and 8.10

lakhs tubesper annum.

It has entered into a collaboration agreement with M/S continental tyres,

Germany in 1998 for technology up gradation

Marketing Department :

Products of J.K. Tyre have good acceptance both in domestic and international markets.

Broadly, the customers are categorized into & segments like:

a) Original Equipment manufactures (Domestic & Exports)

b) Overseas Markets

c) Institutional sales &

d) Replacement Markets.

It has been the supplies for tyres for VOLVO, ASHOK Leyland and Tata Motors. It is the

largest exporter from India accounting 30% of the total quantity exported

HRD committee Meeting:

HRD committee consists of senior executives, who meet once in six months under

thechairmanship of president & Direction. Meeting is arranged by HR department. Matter

concerning toHRD are discussed in the meeting. The minutes of the meeting are prepared and

circulated to allconcerned.

Communication Meeting:

A minimum of six- communication meetings will be conducted in a year under the

chairmanshipof president and dissector. The meeting is organized by HR Department. Selected

executives fromvarious departments are invited to attend such meeting is provided basically to

At JK Tyre, this challenge has been tamed by scientists by perfecting a revolutionary Hyper

bonding Silica Technology, replacing carbon black as The key reinforcing Material s in Tyres

The challenge for scientists all over the world has been the overly Inert behavior of SILICA. JK

Tyre HBS technology uses a special formulation to manipulate silica to bond with other Matrix

aggregates. By customizing micro-fibers within an exclusive compound, JK Tyreµs HBS

technology engineered a new tread rubber with dual elasticity.

The Binary Function Compound (BFC) makes the tread rigid and stable in the rolling

direction, and flexible and compliant in the lateral direction.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY & COMMUNITY SER VICE

JK Tyre has always believed in µCaring for the Society¶. Over the years, extensive Corporate

Social Responsibility programmes have been initiated reaching out to those sections of society

who are less privileged in the vital areas of education, adult literacy, health, environmental

protection, social infrastructure & sports.

HEALTH CARE

The old adage µHealth is Wealth¶ is acquiring larger significance than ever before and is vital for

human development. Many initiatives have been undertaken especially in the vicinity of our

plants where public health facilities need to be augmented. Doorstep health care is provided by

medical and para medical personnel in well equipped mobile vans, which go around the villages

as per a predetermined schedule. These services are well received by the community around the

Kankroli Plant.

The ³Parivartan´ programme is focused on special services for maternal and child health care in

the adopted villages in addition to the primary objective of counseling and motivating thecommunity members on issues relating to family welfare and birth control.

Eye Care facilities have been provided by way of active participation in eye checking camps at

various locations including sensitization on the effect of diabetes on ocular health.

The scourge of AIDS has afflicted many sections of society largely on account of lack of

awareness on prevention and subsequently timely medical care. Truck drivers by virtue of the

nature of their job are particularly vulnerable. Recognising this JK Tyre in partnership with theTCI Foundation (supported by Bill & Melinda Gates foundation) continues to provide Free Care

through µJeevanKiran Clinics¶ at major transport clusters as well as disseminate information

through roadside events on AIDS and STIs. More than 13000 people availed this facility during

the year.

Furthermore, AIDS awareness Programmes have been conducted for Company employees across

the organization.

Single unit Light Commercial Vehicle owners are bread winners for their families and work for

long hours, often at the cost of their health. Simple ailments remain unattended. JK Tyre has

adopted more than 66 LCV Union stands where health check up camps have been conducted.

Similar facilities have been made available to their families. Children of LCV owners were

encouraged to display their painting skills in a nationwide painting competition and regional

winners were brought to Delhi.

Medical care is not provided only in out flung areas. In Delhi, the Company has promoted a

super specialty hospital ³PushpawatiSinghania Research Institute for Liver, Renal & Digestive

Diseases´ which in addition to the public at large also provides specialized medical care to

economically weaker sections of society .

ADULT LITERACY & EDUCATION

We believe that quality of life improves with literacy. At JK Tyre, Adult Literacy was

recognized as an area where much could be contributed to society. In a major social initiative JK

Tyre has focused on enabling adult literacy to the communities in the vicinity of the Plant

locations at Kankroli in Rajasthan, Mysore in Karnataka and Banmore in Madhya Pradesh.

Literacy is provided in vernacular languages and this programme is supported by advanced

techniques like Computer Based Functional Literacy. Five Centres have been established with

adequate infrastructure and faculty for this purpose. Special attention is provided to the

upliftment of woman in rural areas through this programme.

JK Tyre supports EkalVidayalayas (Schools) in 7 different interior adivasi villages around

Kankroli Plant in Rajasthan. These Vidyalayas provide education both to the young boys & girls

as also to the adults.

JK Tyre actively supports LakshmipatSinghania School, located at Jaykaygram, Kankroli.

Children of employees and from diverse social strata are able to avail the best possible

educational facilities.

It is ISO 90001 QS 9000 and ISO 14001 certified company.

JK Tyres was awarded the CAPEXIL µS highest export toward for 1997-98 by FIEO. It enjoys

premium brand status in Truck Bias Market in USA and across many markets in Africa, Middle

East and South East Asia.

E ± MARK:

JK Tyres is the only company in India having E-mark certification on their products, a

mandatory required for exporting tyres to European markets.

1. JK Tyre has the DOT certificate on its products, a mandatory requirement for exporting tyres

to US market.

Conclusion

From the above study we can state that JK industries is performing well in the market by

capturing the wide market with its quality products, it does lot of promotional activities to

educate the people and to promote their products in the market and it is evident that the

company¶s profitability position is increasing year by year.

It has expanded its product range and product width with innovative products and thus we can

say that all the departments in the industry is working efficiently.
