Notes from Head Warden

Welcome to our first newsletter from Kingsley Residential Hall. We are glad to inform all parents that all students are well, and many have returned to their home country in view of the lock down happening in Malaysia. For the rest of the boarders, we takes utmost care of them and ensure they are eating well, have enough sports and activities to keep them energised.

School is going on as usual, with students doing class works in concurrent with their classmates by following the school timetable. There are e-learning going on, and we want to inform all students who are now back in their own country to continue with the school works as this will be part of the marks towards their term 3 CA.

As we are unsure of the reopening of the school, we are comforted that learning does not stop and we appeal to all parents to restrict the movement of their children who have returned to be with you. This is to inform parents to tell their children to be consistent in their study from Monday to Friday by checking the PTP messages as well as turning into the e-portal for their daily lessons. If you have any problems here, do give the teachers or me a note via email and we will clarify or assist immediately.

We shall speak again before the next monthly newsletter. This newsletter is to keep you updated with personalised notes from your child/ward. Feel free to be in touch or to call me if necessary. With all our best wishes, take care and stay at home,

사랑하는 가족분들께,킹슬리국제학교 기숙사에서 보내드리는 첫 안내문입니다.

우선, 우리 아이들이 다 건강하고, 기숙사에서 잘 지내고 있다는 말씀을 드립니다. 현재 말레이시아 정부가 시행 중인 이동제한과 격리조치로 인해 기숙사 학생의 상당수는 본국으로 귀국한 상태입니다. 저희 킹슬리국제학교 기숙사 스탭들은 남아있는 학생들의 건강을 위해 다양한 활동과 식단을 통한 균형잡힌 생활을 할 수 있도록 최선을 다하고 있습니다.

아울러, 수업은 평소와 같이 이뤄지고 있으며 온라인 수업도 같은 일정대로 진행되고 있습니다. 온라인 수업 또한 일반 수업과 마찬가지로 평가되어 3학기 성적에 반영되므로, 현재 귀국한 학생들도 온라인 수업에 적극 참여해야 할 것임을 안내 드립니다.

현재 사태가 언제 마무리될지 저희는 확언할 수 없기에, 학생들의 교육 또한 무기한 연장될 수 없다는 판단 아래 이러한 결정을 하게 되었습니다. 귀국하여 학교를 떠난 학생들의 수업 참여에도 함께 힘써 주시기를 다시한번 부탁드립니다. 학생들의 수업은 월-금 정상 스케줄이 적용되며, PTP 메시지를 통한 안내와 온라인으로 진행되는 수업을 참여하게 됩니다. 이러한 과정에서 어려움이 있다면 해당 교사와 상담하거나 기숙사 담당자에게 이메일로 문의 주실 것을 부탁드립니다.

이 안내문은 우리 학생들의 일상을 공유할 수 있도록 매달 발부될 예정입니다. 혹시 그 외에도 도움드릴 수 있는 부분이 있다면 언제든지 연락주시길 바랍니다. 온 세상이 혼란스러운 이 때, 늘 건강하시고 행복한 일이 가득하시기를 진심으로 바랍니다.

キングスレー学生寮の最初のニュースレターにようこそ。まずは、すべての寮生が健康であり、このマレーシアのロックダウンの影響で多くの寮生が自国へ帰国されたことを報告いたします。残られた寮生に関しては、我々は最大限の気配りをしており、彼らが十分な食事をとり、十分なスポーツやアクティビティでエネルギーを発散できるよう心掛けています。

学校は、生徒がクラスメートと共に時間割どおりに授業に参加し通常どおりに運営されます。ただししばらくオンライン学習が継続され、自国に戻った生徒も授業を継続するようお願いします。なお、この授業も3学期CAの評価の一部となります。

現時点で学校が再開できるか不確定ですが、我々は学習が中断しないことに安堵しており、親御様には家で過ごすお子様の行動を制限するようお願い申し上げます。そして、お子様にPTPメッセージをチェックしたり、Eポータルにアクセスしなが月曜から金曜まで整合性を持った学習をするようお伝えください。もし何かの問題があれば、Eメールで教師または私に連絡をください。直ちに不明点を明確にしアシストいたします。

次回の月次ニュースレターの前にもう一度ご連絡をいたします。このニュースレターはお子様達の個々の記録をもとに親御様に最新情報をお届けするものです。お気軽に私にご連絡ください。どうぞご自宅でご自愛ください。

欢迎我们Kingsley宿舍的第一则笔录。我

们很荣幸的通知各位家长，您的孩子都

处于健康状况。由于马来西亚实施“限

制行动令”，因此有很多学生回到他们

各自的国家。至于其他还在住校的学生

，我们将会尽最大的努力和确保学生们

都吃好，有足够的运动和活动来充实他

们。

学校是会照常运作，学生会根据他们的

时间表和他们的同学同时一起进行课业

。学校会通过线上给所有已回国的学生

和住校学生上课和交作业，学校会通过

此举来给予学生评分。

有鉴于我们无法确定学校何时重开，因

此希望家长们配合学校，尽可能的让孩

子们少出门并让他们继续学习。特此告

知孩子周一到周五须继续上课学习。家

长们也可以通过PTP查询最新信息和登入

线上平台学习。如您有任何疑问，您可

Most schools world-wide are switching to online mode for teaching and learning. Whilst this poses a cultural shift in learning, we, at KIS, are taking gradual steps to ensure students’ achievement of learning objectives is not unduly compromised.

We have provided guidance for students to come on board the e-learning platforms. We are continuing to provide updates as when necessary to the students and teachers. Our teachers have also been requested to provide flexibility to students where needed. For example, if a student is unable to attend a scheduled online class or has difficulty in the rare case of limited connectivity, the teachers have been advised to ensure the student is aided after the lectures to meet the learning objectives. Teachers are also requested to be on standby and dedicate time for students to receive additional support.

Our main objective is to serve our students as best as we can to and ensure that their objectives are met. We acknowledge the switch from physical classrooms to virtual classrooms (online learning) can be challenging for students and teachers alike. We are nearing one full week of online teaching and learning. We have received very positive and constructive feedback from the vast majority of students, and are continually reviewing the feedback and making the any necessary adjustments where needed.

We take this opportunity to thank all our parents/ guardians for being patient and understanding during this period of learning at home! It certainly is taking its toll on everyone with the rush for computer-based learning to happen at short notice but we are so pleased with the constant positive feedbacks of encouragements and happy notes! Students are learning, that’s our objectives and must continue to be so! THANK YOU PARENTS & GUARDIANS.

世界の大半の教育機関が学習、指導をオンラインモードへシフトしています。このプロセスは学習面で文化的な移行の要素さえ持っていますが、キングスレーでは生徒の学習目標の達成が不当に妥協されないよう、段階的なステップを踏んでいます。

我々は生徒達がEラーニングプラットフォームに参加できるようガイドラインを提供してきました。必要に応じ生徒や教師にアップデートを提供しています。我が教師は必要に応じ生徒に柔軟な対応をとることを求められています。例えば、もし生徒が予定されたオンライン授業に参加することができない場合や、稀ですが接続に制限がある場合、教師は生徒の学習目標を達成するため授業後確実に手助けすることを義務付けられています。また、生徒が追加のサポートを受けられるよう常に待機することが求められています。

我々の目的は、生徒の目標達成のために可能な限り奉仕することであります。物理的なクラスルームでの学習からバーチャルクラスルーム（オンライン学習）へ移行するのは生徒や教師にとっても困難な作業だと認識しています。既に1週間のオンライン指導学習が終わろうとしています。大半の生徒から非常にポジティブで建設的なフィードバックを頂戴しており、それを分析し必要な時に必要な調整を行っています。

この自宅学習の期間、辛抱強くご理解をいただきました親御様、保護者様に対しこの場を借りて感謝したいと思います。短い周知期間でコピューター学習の準備をすることは誰にとっても大きな負担となったでしょう。しかしながら、絶え間ない激励のポジティブなフィードバックとハッピーな連絡を大変うれしく思います。生徒が学習すること、それは我々の目標であり、それは継続されなければなりません。親御様、保護者様再び感謝いたします。

전 세계 대부분 학교들이 온라인수업으로 전환하고 있습니다. 수업 형태가 변화되는 이 시기에도, 킹슬리 국제학교는 학생들의 학습 목표를 달성할 수 있게 조치를 취할 것입니다.

저희 킹슬리 국제학교는 학생들을 위해 온라인 수업 플랫폼을 제공합니다. 학생들과 선생님들의 상황에 맞게 끊임없이 발전하려 하고 있습니다. 최근에 선생님들이 학생들을 위해 조금 더 유연한 학습 방식을 제시 하였습니다. 예를 들어, 인터넷 연결 문제로 인해 수업에 참여 하지 못하거나, 어려움을 겪는 학생들은 수업 후 선생님들께 도움을 받아 그날 수업을 반드시 마무리 할 수 있도록 하는 것입니다. 그래서 선생님들은 학생들이 추가적으로 도움을 받을 수 있도록 시간을 내어 상시 대기 하였습니다.

저희 주요 목표는 학생들을 최대한 도와 그들이 학습 목표를 달성하는 것입니다. 학교에서 수업하는 방식에서 온라인 수업으로 전환하는 것이 학생들과 선생님들에게 도전적인 변화라는 것을 압니다. 한 주 동안 진행한 온라인 수업을 통해서, 다수의 학생들로부터 긍정적이고 도움이 되는 피드백을 받았습니다. 소중한 피드백을 반영하여 더 발전하고 필요한 모든 곳에 지원을 아끼지 않겠습니다.

저희는 이 글을 통해 학부모님들과 보호자분들께 기다려주심과 이해해주심에 감사인사 드립니다. 온라인 기반의 학습이 단시일 내에 시행되기 위해 서두른 것은 분명 모든 분들에게 피해를 주고 있지만, 저희는 끊임없는 긍정적인 피드백에 매우 감사드립니다. 학생들은 배우고 있습니다, 그것이 저희의 목표고 계속 진행되어야 합니다.

反馈，如有必要我们将会探讨并做

出修改或协调。

在这学期期间，大家在情况突然之

In an attempt to make boarding life interesting, Kingsley International School (KIS) introduced its first tabletop war games in January 2020.

It was an initiative from Mr Mark Smith, a Key Stage Four’s Business Studies teacher. First invented in Prussia near the end of the 18th century, the game is played using miniature models of troops, artillery and vehicles on a 3D model of a battlefield. Players take turns to move their armies across the model battlefield, declare attacks on the opponent, and fights between armies are resolved through simple arithmetic using dice rolls.

There were two play. The first play was set during the Napoleonic War while the second was set during World War II. The boarders planned and applied various strategies in order to win the “war”.

The game proves to be a great way in learning history and mathematics and the boarders look forward to playing it again.

Boarders Pantry RulesKeep the pantry clean and tidy every time after use.

Label your own food and only keep fresh food in the refrigerator, so that it is safe to eat at all times.

Wipe and keep clean the countertop and the floor should there’s spill after using the water dispenser.

Wipe and clean the inside of the microwave oven and switch o� the power after every use.

Throw away the food watse or rubbish trapped in the sink strainer every time after use.

Always keep the lid on after every disposal of watse.

Hi everyone, my name is Ms Alina but everyone call me “Ms Lina” for short. I look after the students in the RH. I like the boys and girls in the Residential Hall. I think they are growing to be more independence and learning to make new friends who are very different from where they come from. Some don’t like boarding rules, and others are mischievous. But together, they are all lovely children, and those under my charge are very responsible kids, but naughty at times. We try to instil discipline and time management in them. Are we succeeding? I like to think so!

안녕하세요 저는 알라이나입니다. 리나라고 부르셔도 좋습니다. 저는 킹슬리 국제학교 기숙사를 관리/담당하고 있습니다. 아직 어리기 때문에 기숙사 내의 룰이 답답하기도 하고 힘이 들어 때때로 말썽도 많이 일으키고 장난도 많지만 정말 사랑스러운 아이들입니다. 외국에서 적응하기도 힘들텐데, 기숙사에서 문화와 언어가 다른 친구들과 교류하고 사회성을 키워가며 책임감 있는 학생으로 성장하는 모습을 매일 볼 수 있습니다. 우리 학생들과 함께 실천하고 있는 예의범절과 효율적인 시간관리에 대해 어떻게 생각하시나요? 잘 되고 있는걸까요?

皆様、こんにちは。 Alinaと言いますが、周りからはショートネームでMs Linaと呼ばれています。私はキングスレー学生寮でお子様のサポートをしています。私は学生寮にいる男子、女子とも好きです。彼らは更なら自立を目指し日々成長しており、また全く異なる国から来た新しい友達ができるよう努力しています。寮のルールが好きでないお子様や、いたずら好きのお子様もいます。それにしても、皆かわいい子供であり、私の担当しているお子様は責任感のあるお子様です。ただ時々いたずらをすることもありますが。 私は彼らに自己規律と時間管理を植え付けようと懸命になっています。成功しているかわかりませんが。うまくいっていると考えたいと思います！

心的。我们尝试灌输学生纪律和时间管理。那我们
