2.O DESCRiPTiON

2.1 General:

MetaiStudC「ete is a lighトgage steei connector strip used

to t「ansfe「 Shea「 st「esses in composite paneI systems

used as a「chitectu「al ciadding. The use of the st「ip is not

=mited to any seismic design catego「y. The composite

PaneIs consist of Iight-gage SteeI studs and a 「einfo「ced

COnC「ete facing o「 topping on one side of the studs, With

the MetaIStudC「ete metaI connector p「oviding a sheaト¶ow

COnneCtion between the steeI studs and the conc「ete. See

Figu「e l for a typieaI panel const「ucted with the

2.2 Mate「iaIs:

2.2,1 Steei Studs: Whe「e the MetaIStudC「ete comecto「

iS uSed, Steei studs in ∞mPOSite paneis must be

recognized in a cu「「ent lCC-ES evaIuation report. PhysicaI

and section p「operties are found in the evaiuation report on

the steel stud. Minimum steel thickness and yieId st「ength

fo「 the studs must compiy with TabIe l ofthis 「eport.

2,2,2 MetaiStudCrete Connecto「: The MetaIStudCrete

COmectO「 t「anSfe「s shea「 st「esses between the concrete

faci=g and the lighトgage steel stud. The strip is fastened to

the web o「 flange of the stud and the ¶ange of the t「ack,

and the st「ip/flange is then embedded into the concrete

facing. The st「ip is fab「icated f「om No. 18 gage

[0.047 inch (1.19 mm)] steel, COmPIying with ASTM A653SS, Grade 33. The gaIvanized coating compiies with

ASTM A924. See Figure 2 fo「 dimensions of the

MetaIStudC「ete connecto「.

2・2・3 Concrete: The conc「ete facing is no「ma」Weight

COnC「ete COmPIying with the p「ovisions of IBC Chapter 19

O「 IRC Section R402.2, aS aPP=cable. The minimum

COmPreSSive strength, f6, muSt be 2,500 psi (17.2 MPa) at

28 days.

2,2.5 Screws: The MetaIStudC「ete connector must be

atfached to the stud using galvanjzed, Seif-d輔ng, SeIf-

tapping sheet metal screws confo「ming to SAE J78 and

AiSi CF 92-1. Table l shows caiculated a=owable shea「
