Our focus for this year is about Conneconsso we are looking at a range of opportunies, topics and subjects that will teach our students about conneconsand what that means to everyone. “’ Huge thank you to those who have already linked into our school Classdojo. We have adopted Classdojo at school as a way for you to see your child's learning. This gives our stu- dents an opportunity to Blog their learning to you personally on their own ePorolio. We will be using this rather than the clear file (hard copy) student porolio. We are extremely excited about our Family (whanau) Fiesta we are having on Friday. This is a very causal day where you will be able to talk to the teachers about your child's learn- ing and see how we are using Classdojo in class. No appoint- ments needed. We will be holding our standard assembly at 12noon in the Whare Manaaki and you are all invited to see how this runs. Aſter assembly you are welcome to have a picnic with your child/ren , with our PTA selling sausages, mousies, juices etc on the day as well. Classes will be open for you to look through and ask quesons about what we do at Whakamaru School. There will be NO school lunches on Friday. Year 7 & 8 students Tech at Forest View will run every Thursday morning from 27 February—9:0010:40. Please ensure your child is at school by 8:30am to catch the bus to Forest View in Tokoroa. Term 1 & 2 they will be covering Food Technology and Digital Technology.Term 3-4 they will have Wood Tech & Metal tech.Fees for this will be covered by the government;s donaon scheme. Breakfast club has started up for those students who have missed breakfast at home or who are genuinely hungry by the me they get to school. We have weetbix, fruit and milk available for our students to have before school starts at 8:45am. Principals message

Tēnā koutou ngā whānau o te kura o Whakamaru.

Our focus for this year is about “Connections” so we are looking at a range of opportunities, topics and subjects that will teach our students about “connections’ and what that means to everyone. “’

Huge thank you to those who have already linked into our school Classdojo. We have adopted Classdojo at school as a way for you to see your child's learning. This gives our stu-dents an opportunity to Blog their learning to you personally on their own ePortfolio. We will be using this rather than the clear file (hard copy) student portfolio.

We are extremely excited about our Family (whanau) Fiesta we are having on Friday. This is a very causal day where you will be able to talk to the teachers about your child's learn-ing and see how we are using Classdojo in class. No appoint-ments needed. We will be holding our standard assembly at 12noon in the Whare Manaaki and you are all invited to see how this runs. We have a range of student leadership opportunities for our students. We are very keen to give our students an opportunity

to share their ideas and voice their opinions over a range of school topics from day to day school activities, property ideas etc.

here are some positions we are looking for students to fill.

Maunga Leader – Job Description

You will need to complete an application form and take

part in an interview. If chosen as a maunga leader, you

have duties that must be carried out sensibly and with

pride. Your duties will include:

Being part of the weekly K.A.A.H.U card count on

Thursday afternoons. On a roster system. You

must make sure that the results are kept confi-

dential.

Take part in the K.A.A.H.U card draws at each whole

school assembly. This means reading the names

and details of the drawn cards out in front of the

school.

Supervising the students choosing their K.A.A.H.U

prizes.

Being a positive K.A.A.H.U role model at all times.

To help manage the maunga treat activities.

To run maunga activities during break times when

asked.

To help manage whole school events such as Triath-

lons etc.

Help the members of your maunga if needed.

All applications must be in by Wednesday 19 February

School Council—Job description

This year our school council will consist of our year 8’s who

are interested to apply and two representatives from each

class.

You will meet with Mr. White weekly to discuss a range of

school topics such as.

School plan—this maybe around property etc.

Fundraising opportunities or ideas work with PTA eg.

Running discos etc.

School timetable and what that looks like.

Share the voice of the students from throughout the

school on a range of issues or topics.

Survey the school for responses. And present them to

the staff or BoT or PTA if needed.

Meetings will be minuted and shared on our school

noticeboard.

To apply you must be enthusiastic, reliable and be able to

uphold our KAAHU values at all times.

Students will be given an opportunity to apply during class

time. Apply by a simple letter of interest, this must be given

to your teacher.be in by the end of week 4.
