Sign in to AWS


　Sign in to AWS

1. Enter your Amazon.com account information, and click the ”Sing in using our secure server”.

2. If you don’t have an Amazon.com account, select ”I am a new user.” to create a new account.


Select a Region

1. Select a region you’d like to use from the menu at the upper-right corner of the screen.


Create VPC


　Create the VPC

1. Click the “VPC” from the list of services.

1. Click “Start VPC Wizard” button on VPC Dashboard.

1. Select “VPC with a Simple Public Subnet”, and click ”Select”.

1. Enter the form as follows.

IP CIDR block: example → 10.0.0.0/16VPC name: not necessarily requiredAvailability Zone: your arbitrary zone

2. Click “Create VPC”.

1. Click “Your VPCs” in the navigation pane, you can see the list of VPCs


Launch EC2 Instance


　Launch EC2 Instance

1. Go to EC2 Dashboard.

2. Click ”Launch Instance”.



1. Select “AWS Marketplace” tab

2. Enter "Movable Type 6" in order to find the Movable Type AMI packages.



1. You can see three packages of “Movable Type 6” in the result page.

2. Select a package according to the Web Server you would like to use.

Apache

1. Click “Continue” at the bottom of the page.



1. Select an instance type. “m3.medium” is

selected in the default.In the Apache edition, "t2.micro" and "t1.micro" are not selectable

because Apache requires memory than nginx. If you would like to use

micro instance, please select a nginx edition.

2. Click ”Next: Configure InstanceDetails”.



1. In "Network" field, select the VPC you've just created.

2. In "Subnet" field, select the public subnet which made with a new VPC.

3. Other fields, you can change to any if needed.

4. Click “Next: Add Storage”.



1. Enter the storage size, and select a volume type. In most cases, do not need to change.

2. Click “Next: Tag Instance”.



1. Set the value to "Name" for tagging, it is convenient to manage later.

2. Clic “Next: Configure Security Group”.



1. The recommended security groups (SSH, HTTP) are set in default. Change or add rules as needed.

2. Click “Review and Launch”.



1. Your instance details are displayed, so review them all.

2. Click “Launch”.



1. If you already have a key pair, choose from an existing key pair.* How to create a new key pair can be found in the following page.

2. Put check on the checkbox.

3. Click ”Launch Instance”.



1. If you don’t have a key pair, choose ”Create a new key pair”.

2. Enter any name in the”Key pair name” field　and click ”Download Key Pair”.

3. Click “Launch Instances”.



1. Click “View Instance” , you can see the created instance.


Allocate and Assign an Elastic IP


　Allocate and Assign an Elastic IP address

1. Select “Elastic IPs” in the navigation pane.

2. Click “Allocate New Address”.



1. Select “VPC”、and click ”Yes, Allocate”.



1. Select the Elastic IP address from the list, and then clik “Associate Address”.



1. In the dialog box, choose Instance from the list, and then click “Yes, Associate”.



1. Select “Instances” in the navigation pane, you can see that the Elastic IP address is associated with the instance.



ssh -i <Key Pair File Name> ec2-user@<IP Address>

1. Let’s try to connect to the EC2 server with the Elastic IP by ssh.

2. Launch the terminal and type the command at the bottom of this page.* <Key Pair File Name> and <IP Address> should be replaced with yours.



1. Access from your browser with the Elastic IP address.

2. Welcome screen of Movable Type is displayed.


Install Movable Type

1. Start installation on Movable Type by clicking “Start Movable Type” in the welcome screen.



1. Enter your EC2 Instance ID to “Instance ID”, and then click “Continue”.

2. Click “Continue” when you’re done.

1. Click “Sign in to Movable Type” after you’ve finished installation.



1. User’s dashboard is displayed when you signed in.

2. Now you can use Movable Type!
