「専門職大学院公衆衛生学研究科（Graduate School of Public Health）」（仮称）

の設置認可を文部科学省に申請

学校法人聖路加国際大学（所在地：東京都中央区、理事長：糸魚川順）は、2017 年 4 月に開設を計画し

ている専門職大学院公衆衛生学研究科（通称：公衆衛生大学院）の設置認可を文部科学省に申請しました

（2016 年 3 月 25 日付）。申請が認可された場合、聖路加国際大学における新しい大学院の設置は 1980 年

に私立大学では初めてとなる看護学研究科修士課程の開設以来 37 年ぶりとなります。

高齢社会の急速な進行と疾病構造の変化、増大する国民医療費、グローバル化が進む社会における新

興・再興感染症などの解決には、従来の疾患治療を中心とした臓器別医学から予防を中心とした社会の

中の人間を全人的に診る医療への転換が求められています。新たに設置する公衆衛生学研究科は、附属

施設である聖路加国際病院の膨大な臨床データを活用した医療の質の評価、根拠に基づく医療（EBM）

を学修するとともに、公衆衛生分野の諸問題をグローバルスタンダードに照らし合わせて解決する能力

を育成します。国内外の教員による世界水準の教育を実践し、「社会における人間の健康と幸福の保持・

増進に寄与する」高度専門職業人の養成を目指します。

Application for approval of St. Luke`s Graduate School of Public Health

（provisional name）submitted to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports,

Science and Technology of Japan

St. Luke’s International University (Location: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Chairman of the Board of Trustees:

ITOIGAWA Jun) has successfully submitted an application for approval of a new Graduate School of

Public Health (planned to open in April 2017), to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science

and Technology of Japan (dated March 25, 2016). Pending approval, this would be the first new

graduate school at St. Luke’s in 37 years, since the Graduate School of Nursing Science was

established in 1980.

To help find solutions for the issues facing our rapidly aging society, including changes in disease

profiles, ever-growing national healthcare expenses, and globalization-related emerging and

re-emerging diseases, it has become necessary to move away from traditional healthcare of

treatment of organ-specific diseases, and towards a preventive medicine-centered society that

reaches the entire population. The new Graduate School of Public Health will apply the vast

amounts of clinical data accumulated at its affiliated institution, St. Luke’s International Hospital, to

further explore concepts including healthcare quality and evidence-based medicine (EBM), and to

approach a wide variety of problems in the field of public health at a global standard. Faculty hailing

from both Japan and abroad will assure a stimulating study environment at an international

academic level and with an English curriculum. Our goal is to cultivate high-level experts who can

“contribute to the maintenance and expansion of the health and welfare of people in society.”
