The idea the project generates, has been taken from my first impression of the village, after thinking it over and studying the possibilities, the impact remained as strong as the first moment I laid eyes upon it. This image, or images, are the incredible spots where the architecture is constructed, this natural architecture that contains and tucks away the village. The awesome grove of century old chestnuts that were born on the borders of the roads, spring from the banks on both sides, leaning towards each other creating a tunnel crossing. A natu-ral vault of branches and foliage. These natural tunnels, I try to bring into the architecture, in the best way possible, trying to abstract the concept and geometrise this nature, in order to make buildable yet maintaining the integration of all the elements. I created areas close to the rough stone walls to add a missing use in Ramil, the outdoor life, a social life where all elements are actors in this performance, the architecture, nature and the people. A space does not resign itself to being a setting for contemplation, on the contrary, it aspires to be a scene for action. The architecture is characterised by conti-nuing transformation, and it links together with the vital character of the people, to enable these people to transform these places where their activities are carried out. The ability to act, to give a new form to things, is situated in the forefront, it requires a radical modification of the habitable, as much in the way it is built as the way in which it is thought of.

A 300 m2 indoor space situated in a trading estate. A pub-restaurant has been requested, that must include in the programme: a pub-café area, an area for a quick bite to eat and another for the restaurant, kitchen that serves all areas. It has to be considered that the different parts operate both individually and collectively, with different access points, but keeping it as one unit.

I have started with my client’s petitions, they are as follows:

“I have two buildings, they have a share wall, and I would like to make only one building, in which I would like to have a restaurant and a house. For my family and I, my wife and two sons. I am a passionate reader and like to spent leisure time with friends making meals. For the restaurant, I would like give a different perspective than can be seen here, Coruña doesn´t have good places to enjoy a meal in a relaxed atmosphere, without crowds and worrying about the square meters. As a business owner, an area where entrepreneurs can meet to close deals near a good place to dine in a peaceful area, is greatly needed.

With these premises the first thing that came to mind was to create a green area, to give the building the energy and calmness of nature. In terms of space, I always like my buildings to have spatial quality. I obtain this crea-ting spaces that take advantage of the rooms leading to and from them, this gives a feeling of grea-ter amplitude using the same square metres. The most logical thing, in this case, is to do a verti-cal layout of uses, from the most public to the most private. From the ground floor to the top floor, I keep this layout in use subdivi-sions. All was clear!!! To the drawing board!!!The idea of the project is centred on the dividing wall. Then, I play at moving the ceiling heights up or down half a storey on one of the side of the dividing wall. It will give a larger variety of space and communication, strengthening the common areas of entertain-ment, they are the fore-mentio-ned green areas. These are the soul of the project. The rest is bricking up… putting in furniture… correcting errors…, the essence of the project has been achieved.

GREEN AREAS SPATIAL QUALITY ORDER AND LOGICAL USE.

Starting with a prototype piece, I built a grid to form a covered area using multiple identical pieces. This piece is a square that connects with the rest by a swinging link. This means that each piece operates as one blanket. The way of holding this grid in place is to hang a horizontal line between buildings the end sides of the blanket must also be secured. The function will be like that of a circus tent. Moving a piece on the vertical axis means that neighbouring pieces follow suit. Varying the heights of the selected pieces, the blanket will create dispara-te 3 dimensional shapes, giving an appealing look to the area of coverage and a different play of light and shadow. One could also play at changing the material of the parts for a translucent and coloured alternative.

Proposal

To do a landscaping Project in the nursery smallholding, contai-ning at least play areas and crops for own consumption.

Description

I found myself facing a smallholding with almost square mea-surements, with only a facade looking onto road traffic, on the southern side. The northern side boasts extensive views. The eastern and western sides adjoin with the smallholdings of other owners, the eastern side being where a grove can be found. Thanks to the situation of the nursery in the smallhol-ding, I rely on it to make the divisions of terrain, putting into proportion areas and prioritizing their uses. These uses come strongly marked by the nursery itself and its distribution. On the northern side of the nursery the most diaphanous area is located, where the children will play. The decision of the species of trees is made based on their size, whether they are deciduous or evergreen and their flowering time, to give the greatest versatility of moments and colours in the different seasons, so everything is the most disparate possible. On the southern side of the main block there are the adminis-trative offices, opposite which I project a garden with visual character. This garden has clear Japanese influences, but with autochthonous elements and species. On the western strip, I arrange a vegetable patch and an orchard, choosing native and simple crop species to facilitate the tasks of workers.
