SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

RK Goswami is a Master Degree holder from one of India’s most prestigious Premiere TechnicalInstitution, IIT Delhi, in Structure and Chartered Engineer from Institution of Engineers (India). He hasextensively worked for numerous Civil Design and Construction projects since his graduation in 1991. Outof his 25 years of experience, RK Goswami has been involved last 23years in detailed structural/civildesign, planning, construction detailing and specifications for projects covering mainly Road and RailwayBridges & Flyovers. His first initial two years (1991 to 1993) had been associated with Railway BridgeConstruction & project management. Over this period he has been involved over 220 numbers of designed& constructed bridge projects covering countries like India, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Bhutan andEthiopia. Apart from bridge projects, his design experience also includes Industrial Structures (e.g. Silos,RCC Chimneys, Dam lift well), Industrial Building, Multi-Storied Buildings, Transmission tower, Water &Sewage & Effluent Treatment Plants etc.

RK Goswami is an expert in the preparation and production of construction drawings, specifications andthe direct provision of construction support services for new and renovated facilities. He has gainedextensive knowledge and experience in both the design and construction of various civil and structuralengineering projects, which have ranged from small scale projects to major capital works, for example:Complex multi-level Flyover Interchange, Marine & River Bridges, Underpasses, Railways bridges overlarge rivers in plains to difficult Himalayan terrain having very tall piers. Additionally, he brings to task well-honed management skills, a summary of which includes budgeting, scheduling, preparation of proposals,report preparation, CAD implementation, IT implementation and construction oversight.

At beginning of carrier RK Goswami was involved in construction of 2.5KM long Prestressed Concrete RailBridge superstructure for the doubling of railway track over Farakka Barrage on the river Ganges forEastern Railway, India. The bridge construction was evolved with precast Prestressed concrete Girdersover in-situ deck slab, which had been cast on a precast bed and rolled over the Crawling type LaunchingGirder to place on its actual position due to very much constricted construction space for existing adjacentrunning Railway Track.

During his last 25years of professional carrier, RK Goswami has worked directly and indirectly (as anindependent consultant & associate) for some of the prominent international consultancy organisations inIndia and abroad like Canarail (Canada), Scott Wilson (UK, now URS, USA), Lea Associates, FeedbackVentures, Basu & Associates etc., culminating in the formation of his own practice in 2004. He has heldvarious positions of responsibility that include Discipline Head, Structural Engineer Head, Senior DesignEngineer, Associate Consultant, Senior Bridge Engineer and finally overall in charge of Design Cell,Project Planning , Guidance & Coordination since of his own practice in 2004.

RK Goswami has written some valuable paper in various Indian Bridge journals and University journals.He presented his first paper on "Bridge Structures for High Seismic Zone - Basic Concepts and SpecialFeatures" to 11th. Symposium on Earthquake Engineering, December 17-19,1998 in Roorkee University,India which was later published by "Department of Earthquake Engineering", Roorkee University. His twoother major papers on bridge expansion joint problems and its solution published in Indian Road Congress& IABSE Journals, which are highly appreciated by structural expertise of IIT, Delhi, Delhi College ofEngineering & many more professional Structural Bridge Engineers/Designers. Many students did theirMTech Thesis on these papers which has been approved by IIT Delhi. Later in 2005 Indian RoadCongress also approved the same system for adopting in bridge/ flyover constructions by complying in itsreference code IRC : SP : 66-2005.

1. Project Name Feasibility Study and Detailed Design for Regional Cooperation andIntegration Project-Rail Component (RCIP-Rail) for sub-regional and Trans-Asian Railway (TAR) connectivity under the ADB funding assistance.

Project Description Government of Bangladesh identified some investment projects for sub-regional and Trans-Asian Railway (TAR) connectivity. These projectsinclude new construction of missing links, increase of line capacity,strengthening of existing bridges and procurement of rolling stocks etc.

On the basis of Joint Communiqué between Bangladesh and India, theRegional Cooperation and Integration (RCI) in road, rail and waterways gotway forward for implementation. Based on the decision of JointCommuniqué, Bangladesh Railway (BR) identified and prioritized someinvestment projects to improve the integration of Bangladesh Railway withother railways in the region.

The consultancy contract was awarded to the CANARAIL Consultants Inc.[Canada] in a joint venture with SMEC International Pty Ltd [Australia], DBInternational GmbH (DBI) [Germany], and ACE Consultants Ltd.[Bangladesh].

It is a completedesign consultancy job from the execution agency SP Singla P Ltd.
