Datos biográficos
Burrhus Frederick Skinner
nacio el 20 de marzo de 1904
en la ciudad de Suquehanna,
Pensylvania. Su interés en la
conducta animal y humana lo
llevo a la facultad de Psicología de Harvard donde recibió su doctorado en 1931, en
1936 fue invitado a ocupar un cargo académico en la Universidad de Minessota,
donde permaneció nueve años, y posteriormente en la Universidad de Indiana en la
cual ejerció de profesor de 1945 a 1948. En 1948 vuelve a Harvard en donde
permaneció hasta su muerte el 18 de agosto de 1990, a los 86 años, debido a leucemia.
Durante su carrera escribió aproximadamente 130 artículos en revistas, 24
libros, 42 capítulos de libro y gran cantidad de publicaciones de otros tipos
incluyendo artículos en periódicos y revistas populares.
Recibió en vida una gran cantidad de honores y reconocimientos, entre estos:
Premio a la contribución científica Distinguida, recibido de la Asociación
Americana de Psicología (APA) en 1958.
Premio Internacional de la fundación para el Retraso Mental Joseph P.
Kennedy Jr. En 1971.
Premio al Humanista del Año, recibido de la Sociedad Humanista Americana
en 1972.
