Newsletter Issue 12 (April to June 2014)

聖巴拿巴會之家最近展開了一個

名為「聖巴拿巴童學會」的項目，其

目的是幫助貧窮家庭兒童。我們深信

兒童能免費享用膳食及課後活動，定

能減輕家庭的負擔。我們藉著活動，

希望能使兒童才能得以發揮，培育更

優秀的人才，使他們成為社區有用的

一份子。

一樓的裝修工程完工前，我們在

復活節假四月廿一至廿六日推出「童

學會」日營項目測試。(一樓是特別

為兒童及其家長的膳食及活動而設

的。)

在這段復活節期間，我們邀請了

南島中學的義工及香港大學實習生

到中心幫助小一至小六的本地學生

參與興趣班。他們一起看英語電影、

討論內容，用英文食譜煮食、唱英文

歌、用英文討論新聞及學習聖經故

事。此外，日營更有興趣班，內容包

羅萬有，有園藝、烹飪、電影欣賞、

遊戲。我們更製作了兒童復活節日營

通訊，現附上通訊以供參閱。

現在一樓裝修經已完成，「童學

會」開幕典禮亦於六月二十日於中心

一樓舉行。兩大贊助商麥格里及首域

投資連同Watermark教會及中心主席

主持開幕儀式。

「童學會」正式揭開序幕，兒童

開始在暑期日營、平日及星期日開始

在中心活動。我們展望兒童的才華在

神的恩典下得以大大提升。

St. Barnabas’ Society and Home has recently launched a programme called SBSH Kids’ Learning Club with the objective of helping kids from poor families to have free meals and after school activities. We believe that with the free services, we can lighten the burden of the family and the kids can develop their talents. We hope that they would become useful members of the community.

Throughout the Easter week of April 21-26, the Kids’ Day Camp was a pilot test for the Kids’ Learning Club before the completion of the renovation of first floor. (Our first floor of the centre was reserved for the kids and their families for meals and activities.)

During Easter holiday, we

invited a number of volunteers from South Island School and interns from Hong Kong University came to our centre to provide local students (primary one to primary six) free interest group activities. They watched and discussed movies, cooked using English recipes, sang English songs, discussed the news in English, and learned bible story in English. There were a great variety of interest group activities such as

gardening, cooking, movie appreciation and games. We have also produced a newsletter regarding the Easter Day Camp as attached for your reference.

Now the renovation of the first floor was completed. The formal opening ceremony of Kids’ Learning Club was officiated on June 20 at the 1st floor of our centre. Two major sponsors, Macquarie Group and First State Investments together with Watermark Church and our Chairman officiated the opening ceremony.

With the commencement of

Kids’ Learning Club, kids start to develop different abilities in our Summer Day Camp and on weekdays and Sundays at our centre. We look forward to the development of the kids’ talents in the grace of God. Open ceremony on June 20 六月二十日開幕典禮

滅滅滅滅蚤蚤蚤蚤行動行動行動行動 我們透過探訪活動，了解到老友記家中有蚤患問題，尤其在炎熱的夏季情況更加嚴重，而且被咬後也影響到他們的身心。去年開

設此計劃，我們挑選了一些老友記去學習技術，然後去幫助其他的老友記在家中滅蚤，效果理想。在工作中，他們更可賺取津貼

呢!如你想參加清潔板間房或滅蚤，請致電 2548 9056 與林先生聯絡。

Flea Removal Project During outreach visits, we find that our friends have flea problems in their wood partitioned rooms. The situation is worst in

summer and our friends are irritated by fleas. Starting from this year, we have selected some of our friends to learn the flea

removal skills. They help other friends to remove fleas in their rooms and the result is satisfactory. Besides, when they work,

they can also earn some training allowance money. If you want to help with flea removal, please contact Mr. Lam at 2548

9056.

Sunday Dinner Project We have launched the Sunday dinner project since 2012. This project has been warmly received. Our friends prepare food,

cook and serve meals. They have been very involved with the project. They can receive job training and earn training

allowance money. If you want to receive job training, please contact Ms. Wong at 2548 9056.

當我回顧未信主前，我是一個貪玩的人，經常

和朋友四處玩，如旅行、賭馬、買六合彩等，並且

經常罵人。1982年，當我在一間出入口公司工作

時，我的同事邀請我返教會聚會，我在佈道會中，

很受感動，便舉手決志信主了。

自此之後，我一直都有參加團契和崇拜，我的

人生觀亦隨之而改變了。我再沒有賭馬、買六合彩

或罵人。參加聚會三年多，團契導師鼓勵我受浸，

猶豫了幾天，我向神祈禱，便向導師報名，接受洗

禮了。

我在 1985年 5 月 12 日受浸，三年後我和一位廣

西的女孩子結婚，婚後便離開了教會 20 年。

由 1989年至 2009年，我沒有參加教會聚會。

在 2008年我和妻子分開了。我一直都是自己一個

人生活，過著流浪的生涯。有一次好鄰舍福音堂舉

辦了一個嘉年華會及聚會，有一位姊妹邀請我參

加，自那天起我從新開始教會生活。現在我每星期

參加男子小組和主日崇拜，在當中我感受到弟兄姊

妹的愛心及關心，還有耶穌的愛。

我現年五十歲，他們稱我為「可愛」。我在

1991-2004年來港時是一位專業歌手，在 1998年成

為香港居民。

我在 1991年 11 月成為基督徒。在 1992年我帶

我的家人來港。我有六個孫及四個女兒。在 1994

年，我的丈夫離開了家庭，只剩下我獨自養大女兒

。

在 2013年，我三個月露宿在街頭，並遺失了手提

提電話。我和女兒失去聯絡，她們又搬了家，亦不

知我的去向。我在街上露宿了一段時間。警察致電

社會福利署，有一位社工帶我往聖巴拿巴，亦替我

在高街找到住處。我在露宿街頭、飢餓、無錢、無

家庭，甚至沒有朋友幫助下學懂了許多：我只單單

把生命交給神。我禱告，然後跟隨祂的帶領。現在

我有一份工作和一個目標。我打算建立一個「給予

希望家庭」，為他人帶來幫助。我將一切榮耀感謝

歸與神，因為祂的愛永無止息。

神已經準備好用各種方式來幫助你，祂行奇事。

我的生命已經改變，並且變得更剛強。我知道在我生

生命中會有很多試煉，一切患難中有很多挑戰，我

已準備好迎接每一個試煉。我不會放棄，因為我有

夢未圓。有神在背後幫助及支持，我不會浪費生命

。如果有神同在，誰會對付我？我相信我們是被愛

的。阿們。

Testimony of Tam Chung Kwong

When I have not believed in God, I was a person

who liked fun very much. I followed my friends

everywhere to hang around such as travelling, gambling,

, buying the Mark Six etc. I also often scolded others.

When I was working in an import and export

company in 1982, I was invited by my colleague to

go to a church gathering. I was very moved in the

evangelistic gathering and I raised my hand to

believe in God.

Since then, I attended fellowship and worship.

My life was changed accordingly. I did not gamble,

buy Mark Six or scold people. I had attended the

church gatherings for more than three years. My

fellowship mentor encouraged me to baptize but I

hesitated for a few days. After my prayer, I

registered from my mentor and got baptized.

I was baptized on May 12 1985. I married a girl

from Guangxi after three years. I left the church for

twenty years after I got married.

I did not attend church gatherings from 1989 to

2009. My wife and I got separated by 2008. After

the divorce, I lived alone and roved around. There

was a time that the Hong Kong Baptist Church

Good Neighbour Chapel organized a carnival and a

gathering. A sister in the church invited me to

attend. Since then, I began my church life again.

Now I join the men’s group and the worship every

week. I can feel the love and care from my brothers

and sisters as well as the love of Jesus.

Testimony of Rommillie H. Vidal

I am fifty years old. They call me Lovely. I came Kong as a professional to

Hong Kong as a professional singer from 1991-2004.

I became a Hong Kong resident in 1998.

I became a Christian on Nov 1 1991. In 1992, I

took my family to Hong Kong. Now I have six

grand children and four daughters. In 1994, my

my husband left the family. I brought up my four

daughters by myself.

In 2013, I became homeless for three months. My

phone was lost and I lost contact with my children.

They had moved places and they did not know what

has happened to me. I lived on the street for some

times. The police called the Social Service

Department and a social worker led me to St.

Barnabas’ and led me to have a home at High Street.

I have learnt a lot when being homeless, being hungry

with no money, no family even friends to help. I

simply gave up my life to God. I prayed and

followed where He led me. Now I have a job and I

have a goal now. I will build up a Hope Giver

Family which I will help people in the future. I give

all glory and thanks to God for His love never ends.

God is always ready to assist you, help you in any

ways. He works in mysterious ways. My life was

changed and becoming more stronger. I know trials

will never stop while we are still on earth. From

all the hardship in life, it makes more challenges to

me. I am ready to face every single trial in life. I

will never give up for I have dreams to fulfilled. I

don’t want my life that is wasted while God is

backing me up, ready to help all the time. If God

is with me, who can be against me? I believe that

we are loved. Amen.
