16th Sunday in Ordinary Time
“On Eagles Wings”, one of Christendom’s most beloved and uplift-ing hymns, was played and sung for the first time in the world in Omaha on April 27, 1976 at Saint Robert Bellarmine Church. Rev. Michael Joncas, the composer, based the hymn on Psalm 90 and Isaiah 40:31. The song was written at the request of his classmate, Rev. Doug Hall, for the wake and funeral of his father, H. Douglas Hall. The inspirational and comforting song has been translated into scores of languages, sung by millions and played in the presence of popes, presidents, and world leaders. We are honored that it all started right here at St. Roberts! Please stop in the Narthex to visit the original sheet music and learn more.

Words from Pope Francis: “Jesus,
help us to love God as Father and our
neighbor as ourselves.”
Mother Teresa
Everything in life comes down to the
choices we make, and not necessarily
the big ones, but the daily little choices.
Most of all, we choose our attitude to-
ward the moments of the day. In this
regard, Mother Teresa is a special gift
to us. In David Scott’s recently pub-
lished book, “The Love That Made
Mother Teresa: How Her Secret Vi-
sions and Dark Nights Can Help You
Conquer the Slums of Your Heart,”
Mother Teresa tells us, “Live life beauti-
fully.” Such a simple command, and yet
this is how she tried to live.
David Scott tells us, “She tried to make
everything she did, even her smallest
thoughts and tiniest gestures, an obla-
tion, an offering of love.” Mother Teresa
says, “Offer to God every word you
say and every movement you make.”
She “believed that there is nothing so
small that it can’t be offered to God.
The littler, the better. The smaller, the
more beautiful.”
“Mother Teresa of Calcutta was the
saint of ordinary time, of the divine
found in the routine. She reminded us
that God comes to us not like a bolt out
of the blue but in the din of the every-
day, in our families and workplaces, in
all the struggles and joys of our daily
doings. Most of the time, though, we
miss him because we never expect
God to be so darn ordinary.” And as
always, “It is not what we do, but how
much love we put into what we do.”
Mother Teresa came to show us what
real love is. “The love of the little. A
love that cracks the shell of all our
self-delusion and flings open the
doors of our hearts to Jesus.” She
tells us “that we could be—in every mo-
ment of our lives—God’s answer to
somebody’s prayers. We could be Je-
sus. If only we would let ourselves.”
“There are many people who can do
big things, but there are very few peo-
ple who will do the small things.” –
Mother Teresa

A SUMMER RE-GATHERING
The next meeting for the summer “Re-Gathering” will be Wednesday, July 23.
The topic for this session will be “Who Is Jesus? Just a Good Man or Lord
of Our Lives?” This is an outstanding presentation from Symbolon from the
St. Augustine Institute in Denver. The summer is a great time to slow down
and take a look at our relationship with the Lord. Learn more about who Jesus
is and how we can deepen our life in him. Learn about:
Was Jesus really divine? Or was he a liar or a madman?
Why did Jesus really become man?
How can Jesus be a divine person by possess two natures?
What difference should Jesus make in our lives?
We will meet in the Mainelli Center July 23 (Wednesday) at 7:00 p.m. Come and join fellow parishioners! Cookies and drinks will be served.
Sessions: July 23 (Wed.) – Who Is Jesus: Just a Good Man or Lord of our Lives?

“God Will Grow On You” ST. ROBERT’S PRAYER GARDEN
POOR CLARE SISTERS GALA
Have you visited the Prayer Garden in the evening yet? The theme of our gar-
den this year is MOON GLOW, and the center annual bed was planted with 10
different varieties of white blooming flowers. After dusk, the white blossoms glow
in the faded evening light. Take a close look at the flowers; they vary considera-
bly in size, texture and scent. It is not completely dark in the garden after dusk;
there are soft glowing lights throughout the garden illuminating the pathways and
art work. Mary in the grotto, and Christ on the crucifix, are especially beautiful
after dusk with the play of the light shadows on them. Come experience the gar-
den in a whole new way in the waning evening hours. The garden is open 7 a.m.
- 9 p.m. daily. If you can’t get up to it during the week, stop by after Mass for a
stroll to start your morning off appreciating the wonderful gift of nature that God
has bestowed upon us.
A Quick Trip Through the Bible
Would you like to know about the Bible but don’t know where to begin? Do you
find the stories in Scripture to be confusing? In the “A Quick Trip Through the
Bible” study, you will learn about the major people, places, events, and themes of the Bible—getting the ‘big picture’ of salvation. This exciting course will pro-
vide an overview of the Bible story. Your Bible reading and even the Sunday
Mass readings will come alive like never before. This class meets on Thursday
evenings in the Community Room 7:00-8:30. Classes begin Sept. 25.
Genesis, Part II: God and His Creation (chapters 12-50)
The book of Genesis is all about beginnings, and new beginnings. This study
picks up with chapter 12 in the continuing story of God astonishing plan for His
creation. He will do whatever it takes for men to know and love Him as He origi-
nally intended. Many participants from last winter’s session thought this study
on Genesis to be one of the best ever from St. Roberts. Classes will meet:
Thursday afternoons, 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm, Room #1, Aug. 28 - Nov. 20
Thursday evenings, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm, Room #1, Aug. 28 -Nov. 20
Sat. mornings, (men only), 7:30 am - 9:00 am, Comm. Rm., Sep. 6-Nov.29
Registration forms are available in the pamphlet rack, in the parish office, and on
St. Robert’s website.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS Saint Roberts Parish is the recipient of an extremely generous gift by a St. Rob-
erts parishioner. If you are curious of the happenings in the north parking lot
outside the church, wonder no more. We are breaking ground on the Way of the
Cross. The First Station of the Cross will be located at the east end of the path
with the remaining stations proceeding to the west end of the path with the final
station located just before the steps leading to the Prayer Garden. The area will
be a place of quiet reflection on the sacrifices Jesus made for us so we might be
saved and live. There will be access to benches and kneelers on the path of the
Stations for prayer. Dedication of the Stations of the Cross will be Sunday, Sep-
tember 14, 2015 after the 12:30 Mass. Please plan to attend this very special
dedication and gift to our parish and community.
