Suica Card is a convenient IC card that anyone can use. Just by recharging with cash payments, users can go through automatic ticket gates with a touch on the scanner at the gate. It calculates the fare for the section traveled and deducts that from the stored fare.

Suica comes in two types: a personalized “My Suica” card that bears the

cardholder’s name, and a general, non-personalized Suica Card.「Suica」には、「My 　Suica（記名式）」「Suicaカード」の2種類があります。

「My 　Suica （記名式）」は、入金（チャージ）しておくことにより、改札機にタッチするだけで自動的にご乗車区間の運賃を精算できる、便利なICカードです。

「My Suica（記名式）」は、Suicaエリア（首都圏エリア・仙台エリア・新潟エリア）内にある、JR東日本の駅のカード発売機、もしもし券売機、みどりの窓口でお買い求めください。

The personalized “My Suica” card is a convenient, rechargeable IC fare card that lets the user go through ticket gates with a touch on the scanner at the gate. It calculates the fare for the section traveled and deducts that from the stored fare.

● “My Suica” cards will be personalized at the time of purchase by registering the user’s name, date of birth, gender and other information. If lost or stolen, cards may be reissued based on the information registered. Only the card owner may use the card on trains and buses.「My 　Suica（記名式）」には、ご購入時にお客さまの氏名・生年月日・性別等の情報を登録させていただきます。紛失した場合は、登録した情報をもとに再発行することができます。なお、記名人以外は、鉄道やバスをご利用いただくことができません。

Even with Suica tucked inside the pass case, one touch of the gate’s scanner will let you “swish, swish” through.

The personalized “My Suica” card and Suica Card will automatically calculate the adjusted fare at the automatic ticket gate. The fare will be automatically calculated at the station where you disembark.

To make absolutely sure of smooth gate entry and exit, hold the card flat as you touch the gate scanner. A “peep” or “peep-peep” sound denotes a successful scan. As long as Suica makes full contact with the scanner, the card can be used as it is inside the pass case.

※ Do not insert the Suica into ticket slots of gates, as this may damage the card.※投入口にSuicaを入れないでください。カードが破損する恐れがあります。

入出場を確実に行うため、Suicaは改札機に水平にしてしっかりタッチさせてください。「ピッ」または、「ピピッ」という音がしたら、読み取りOKです。パスケースに入れたままでもきちんとタッチすればOKです。

Suica is a reusable card – a first-time buyer will need to make a returnable deposit of 500 yen

to prevent needless waste of throwaway cards. The deposit is included in the price of the card (2,000

yen) and will be refunded when the card is returned for reimbursement purposes, etc.

Suicaは、ご購入後くりかえしお使いいただけるカードです。カードの使い捨てを防止する観点から、初回購入時には預り金（デポジット）500円をお預かりいたします。預り金は、発売価格（一枚2,000円）の中に含めてお預かりし、払いもどし等でSuicaをご返却いただく際にお返しいたします。

Suica is available on a one-card-for-one-person system; you cannot use multiple Suica. You

cannot transfer a Suica stored fare balance to another Suica.

Personalized “My Suica for Kids” card こども用My Suica

My Suica（記名式）、Suicaカードは、改札機で自動精算します。なお、運賃はすべて降車駅で自動精算されます。

パスケースに入れたまま、改札機の読み取り部にタッチするだけで、スイスイ通過できます。

「My　Suica（記名式）」には、こども用があります。「こども用My Suica」は、入金（チャージ）しておくことにより、改札機にタッチするだけで自動的にご乗車区間の小児運賃を精算します。なお、「Suicaカード」には、こども用がありません。

「こども用My　 Suica」は、Suicaエリア（首都圏エリア・仙台エリア・新潟エリア）内にある、JR東日本の駅のみどりの窓口でお買い求めください。なお、お買い求めの際には、ご利用になるお子さまの本人確認ができるもの（保険証等）をご用意ください。ご家族の方が代理でお求めいただくこともできます。（代理の方がお求めの場合も、お子さまの本人確認をできるものが必要です）※1：満12歳に達する日（誕生日前日）以降の、最初の3月31日

Make sure to bring ID to identify the child who will be using the card such as health insurance card. Members of the child’s family may also purchase the card on his or her behalf. In that case, ID to verify the child must be presented by the family member.

Personalized “My Suica” cards are available for children. Just by recharging with cash payments, children can go through automatic ticket gates with a touch on the scanner at the gate, and the children’s fare for the section traveled will be calculated and deducted automatically. Note that there is no non-personalized Suica card for Kids.

Suica has a rewriting feature that allows printed information of the card to be rewritten. If you register your name and other information with the Suica Card to make it a personalized “My Suica” card.* Your personalized “My Suica” card cannot be changed into a non-personalized Suica card.

Suica comes equipped with a feature to add stored fare (recharge). Even if the card’s stored fare balance drops below a certain level, you can continue to use the same card repeatedly by recharging. (For details, see page 11.)

Personalized “My Suica” cards may be reissued even if they are lost, allowing you to use them securely. Report the lost or stolen personalized “My Suica” cards at major stations in the Suica or PASMO area. We will cancel the card, guarantee the stored fare balance at the time of usage cancellation, and reissue a card. Your reissued card will be handed out to you from the following day.

My Suica（記名式）は、紛失しても再発行できます。4

※You cannot go through a ticket gate if your card’s stored fare balance is less than the minimum required fare.

My Suica（記名式）は、万一紛失しても再発行が可能ですので、安心してご利用いただけます。紛失した際、Suica・PASMOエリア内の主な駅の窓口にご申告いただくと、紛失したカードのご利用を停止。停止完了となった時点での入金（チャージ）残額を保証して、カードを再発行します。なお、再発行カードのお渡しは、翌日以降となります。

Suicaには、券面の印字情報を書きかえることができる、リライト機能を採用しています。Suicaカードに氏名等を登録して「My Suica（記名式）」に変更することができます。※My Suica（記名式）をSuicaカードにすることはできません。 Suicaには、入金（チャージ）機能が搭載されていますので、残額が少なくなった場合も、入金（チャージ）することで同じカードをくりかえし使用できます。（詳しくはP11をご覧ください）

That includes a reissuing fee of 500 yen and a deposit of 500 yen. * Please pick up the reissued Suica within 14 days of application. * You will need to present official identification such as a driver’s license to apply for card reissuing and picking up the new card. * Please note that you cannot cancel your application for reissuing the lost card once the procedure has been accepted. * Reissued Suica may be picked up only at major JR EAST stations. * To reissue your lost or stolen card, we will need information such as your name, date of birth, and gender. When you purchase a

personalized “My Suica” card at a card vending machine, commuter pass vending machine or reserved seat vending machine, make sure to enter your personal information correctly. If your information had been entered incorrectly, we will not be able to reissue your card. Also, enter a phone number where you can be reached. The card can be identified by the card number (the number that begins with JE…) noted on the bottom right-hand side of the back of the Suica, so we ask you to keep a record of that number in a safe place.

Entering or exiting without using the simple Suica scanner may mean that your Suica will not operate automatic fare gates.

Gate scanners may not respond if the Suica is just passed over the top. Be sure to firmly touch the card against the scanner (do not slide it across), and check the processing sound to see if your card was scanned correctly.読み取り部の上をSuicaが通り過ぎるだけでは反応しない場合があります。読み取り部の上で滑らせたりせず、読み取り部に確実にタッチして処理音を確認してください。

Cautions When Using Ticket Gates　改札機ご利用の際の注意

① Hold your card flat and touch to go!水平にしっかりタッチ＆ゴー!

Suica handles data via signals, so it may not respond properly if the signal is impeded by something (metal that electricity passes through, etc.) close to it. Please keep your Suica apart from the following items.Suicaは電波によりデータのやり取りを行うため、電波を妨げるもの（金属など電気を通すもの）がSuicaの近くにあると反応しない場合があります。以下のようなものとは離してお持ちください。

② Do not jointly touch the scanner with any item that may impede the signal　 when using your Suica.

電波を妨げるものと一緒にタッチしない。

■Paper incorporating aluminum foil, such as cigarette packaging and scratch cards

■Metals, such as coins, precious metals and keys

■Silver or white-character rewrite cards, such as point cards・タバコの銀紙、スクラッチカードなどアルミ箔を使用した紙・コイン・貴金属・鍵などの金属類　　・ポイントカードなど、銀色地に白文字のリライトカード

If two or more Suica are carried in a pass case, or a contactless IC card (such as PASMO, ICOCA, Kitaca, TOICA or credit card with Suica function) is carried together with Suica, you will not be able to pass through ticket gates.パスケースにSuicaが2枚以上入っていたり、PASMOやICOCA、Kitaca、TOICA、Suica機能の付いたクレジットカード類など他の非接触式ICカードが一緒に入っていると、改札機を通ることができません。

③ Do not put other contactless IC cards in the pass case with the Suica.他の非接触式ICカードと一緒にパスケースに入れない。

If you put an uncovered Suica into a trouser pocket, it may bend or become distorted, and thus become stuck when used in ticket vending and fare adjustment machines. Please carry your Suica in a pass case, etc.

Suicaをズボンのポケットに直接入れるなどすると、Suicaが折れたり、Suicaがゆがんで券売機や精算機に入れたときに詰まったりすることがあります。パスケースなどに入れてご利用ください。

Suica can be recharged by cash payments at automatic ticket vending, card vending and fare adjustment machines that carry the Suica symbol( ). One of six amounts (1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, 5,000 or 10,000 yen) can be chosen per single recharge. And the card can be endlessly recharged to its upper limit balance of 20,000 yen.

At a ticket vending machine inside the ticket gates (such as on platforms), only if your Suica stored fare balance is insufficient to cover the Green Car charge, you can recharge your Suica with One 1,000 yen bill. (Excluding some ticket vending machines.)

After recharging your Suica following the ticket vending machine’s instructions, please proceed to purchase a “Suica Green Car Ticket”.

●PASMO is an IC farecard ticket issued by PASMO Commitee members (other railway companies' lines, subways, and bus companies in Greater Tokyo).

●Some stations have simple card scanner installed for the convenience of passengers who are transferring from JR lines to other railway companies’ lines. Make sure to touch the scanner with your Suica for transfer.

●Refunds of Suica issued by JR EAST are handled only at JR EAST stations. Likewise, refunds of Monorail Suica, and Rinkai Suica and PASMO are handled only at the respective card issuing counters.

●Handling of Suica at other railway companies’ lines and buses will be carried out in accordance with the terms of the individual railway or bus company.

●When you make a right-through trip like “JR — Other railway company’s line/subway — JR” with an IC farecard, fares could be different from the Transfer Ticket (magnetic ticket) price.

●If you wish to use Suica and a magnetic train ticket at transfer gates with other railway companies’ lines, first insert the magnetic train ticket, then touch the scanner with your Suica. If you touch the scanner with your Suica before inserting the magnetic ticket, your Suica may become invalidated and unusable the next time you try to use it. You cannot use two IC farecards together.

About Use in JR HOKKAIDO “Kitaca” Area, JR CENTRAL

“TOICA” Area as well as JR WEST “ICOCA” Area紛失・障害時のお取り扱い

My Suica（記名式）の紛失時、およびSuicaの破損等による障害発生時は、他の鉄道会社線の駅やバス営業所でも再発行のお申し込みができます（一部の駅、バス営業所を除きます）。ただし、カードの再発行は、お申し込み日の翌日以降、JR東日本の駅でのみお取り扱いします。

他の鉄道会社線との乗換改札機で、Suicaと磁気乗車券をご利用の場合は、磁気乗車券を投入後にSuicaをタッチしてください。磁気乗車券の投入前にSuicaをタッチすると、次回Suicaをご利用いただけない場合があります。なお、2枚のICカードを併用することはできません。

一部の駅では、JR線と他の鉄道会社線の乗り換え用に簡易改札機を設置しています。Suicaでお乗り換えのお客さまは、必ずタッチしてください。

Reissuing personalized “My Suica” card

Suica will be reissued by the following procedures. Refunds will be

made for the following cases when Suica is returned.Suicaは下記により再発行のお取り扱いをいたします。また、ご不要になった際には、Suicaをご返却いただきますと、下記により払いもどしをいたします。

●The information you registered when purchasing the card, i.e., name, date of birth and gender, along with other information such as telephone number will be used to identify your card.

●We will arrange to cancel your personalized “My Suica” card, and your reissued card will be handed over the following day or later.

●Please note that, once you apply to have a card reissued, you cannot cancel the application, even if your original card is found later on.

●When we hand over the card, we will charge you a reissuing fee of 500 yen and a deposit of 500 yen for the new card.

●The damaged card will be cancelled based on its number (17-digit number starting with JE… displayed at bottom right of reverse side of card).お持ちの障害カードのカード番号（裏面右下の「JE…」で始まる17桁の番号）にもとづき、カードの利用を停止いたします。

I know that I can use Suica in a Suica usable area, but what should I do if I go out of that area?

Suica was designed with the premise that it will be used at Suica-compatible ticket gates. The area

of use, therefore, will be restricted to the Suica usable area (see pages 22 to 24, 37 to 38, and 41 to

42). If you plan to travel beyond the Suica usable area, purchase a ticket beforehand. If you do travel

beyond the area, notify the station staff where you get off. You will be asked to pay the additional

fare in cash.

Suica also can be used in the TOICA area, however it cannot span the areas such as Odawara

(Suica area) and Numazu (TOICA area). Suica is designed to adjust the fares at the automatic ticket

gate in the respectively effective areas, therefore, it is not possible to automatically adjust the fares

beyond the areas.

If you plan to travel beyond the Suica usable area, such as from the Suica area to the TOICA area,

please purchase a ticket beforehand.

The following are probable reasons why you cannot use Suica. However, first check your

pass case to see if there is a problem. If you still cannot use Suica, request help from the

station staff at the ticket gate in the Suica area.

●There is an object in your pass case that is interfering with the ticket gate’s scanner signal (see page 8).

●You have used a station outside of the Suica area, and your Suica requires processing.

●An extensive period of time has passed since you last used your Suica.

●The Suica itself is damaged.

What should I do if I have insufficient stored fare balance on my Suica?

If the stored fare balance is insufficient, you may either recharge or use Suica along with cash to buy

tickets at a ticket vending machine. If you find the balance becomes insufficient after you have

A personalized “My Suica for Kids” card may be used up to March 31 of the year your child

graduates from elementary school. After April 1, however, it can no longer be used. If your child

after April 1, and we will change the card’s setting for adult usage.(see page 3)

If you use Suica to ride routes spanning multiple railway lines (JR and other railway companies), the

fare for the section traveled is deducted each time you pass through a ticket gate at the transfer-

ring station. The fare for the least expensive route will be applied to each section traveled.

Things to be Aware of when Using Suica ご利用に際してのご注意

●Suica is for full use in each usable area (see pages 22 to 24, 37 to 38, and 41 to 42). If you are going to make a trip that involves traveling inside and outside a Suica area, be sure to purchase the correct normal ticket in advance, and do not use your Suica.

●If you purchase a personalized “My Suica” card at either a card vending machine or JR EAST Ticket Office (“Midori-no-madoguchi”) , enter your name, date of birth and gender correctly. If your identity cannot be confirmed (in such cases as you entered

information incorrectly), you will not be able to receive services such as having lost

cards reissued. Also, please enter a phone number where you can be reached.
