This magazine, as the name probably made quite obvious, will be re-leased everyday - Monday to Friday. Its purpose will be to relay to you the highlights of the days’ news in music and in film. We will endeavour to publish an issue every evening.

The Angle Daily is an interactive magazine. That means that unlike a lot of other publications that just talk about music and video, we can actually show them to you and include them on the page itself. The majority of the images inside are clickable- doing so could allow you to play a video, listen to a song or just visit a website. The article will probably tell you what to expect.

We’re currently looking for unsigned bands and artists to feature in this magazine. To have a news piece written about something you have com-ing up- be it a new record, a massive tour, something you’ve released that you want streamed, whatever- or to have something reviewed, just send an email.

Every week we take performers outside for a professionally filmed and recorded acoustic session with great sound and visuals. Above is just one of those videos, you’ll find more on our website.

NEWS: All people! stream new videoAll People! From New Orle-ans release an inspiring, cre-ative feel good video with their song, “Conversations” taken from their album, “Learn Forget Repeat”.

The video is comprised of footage taken from 10 weeks of the band tour-ing earlier this year, where they pay homage to all the great opportunities, and people they have encountered during their time on the road. D-Ray says, “Every time I try to explain to friends and family exactly what it’s like to be on tour, the words don’t quite get the job done. I thought making a music video for “Conversations” with footage from tour would help augment the story telling.”

D-Ray is ”extremely happy with how well it turned out and I hope it provides a window into a world that many people may not get a chance to experience.” That it does, so be sure to check it out and get a glimpse into the world of touring!

NEWS: dream state release music videoIn a four-way split record entitled ‘Four Cor-ners’ Never Meant Records has drawn to-gether four talents from each of the corners of Ireland into one collaborative production of great music. One of the bands featured is Dream State, hailing from Galway, who have released a video for their contribution to the release ‘Mustered’.

Dream State vocalist Jack Wright comments on the release: “The four way split is collab-orative release of four friends that wanted to help each other out and be creative at the same time. We’re all heavily influenced by a strong DIY ethic despite playing quite different music under the punk umbrella, we wanted to put that to record and share

a unique experience. My offering for the release is about working through obstacles in a relationship and being all the better because of it!”

Alongside the other talents featured on the record – Wicklow’s Hostile Smiles, Limerick’s Anna’s Anchor and Cork’s Mide Houlihan – Dream State produce a song that showcases their growth as a band and a versatility of sound within their own punk aesthetic. Physical copies of ‘Four Corners’ are available for a limited period of time from Never Meant Records.

The video for ‘Mustered’ is available to watch via the image above. HA

NEWS: &U&I are streaming a new music video&U&I, the energetic post-hardcore band from Birmingham have come back with a new song: ‘The Artist’. The song will appear on the band’s upcoming EP, ‘Merci’.

Having not released anything in a some time, fans have been wondering where &U&I got to. They’ve been busy touring festivals this summer, thrashing out con-cert after concert.

“The Artist’ was written purely by ac-cident,” Thomas Peckett told Already Heard. “‘Merci’ was always only meant to be 3 songs but a couple of days before we were due to record, we went to our lock up to run through the record and ended up writing this song in like an hour and loved it! It’s rapidly gone from a song that we accidentally wrote to one that we absolutely love playing live.”

NEWS: handguns stream new trackHandguns, a 5-piece, pop-punk group from Baltimore, have uploaded the title track of their upcoming album, ‘disenchanted’. It’s available to stream on Pure Noise Records’ Soundcloud page. The full album is set to be released on November 13th on Pure Noise Records.

Guitarist, Brandon Pagano, shares his thoughts on the album and the track, “The record encompasses the idea of finding the faults of everything you’ve grown to believe in. All of the previous Handguns releases document our journey of starting as a small band working for ourselves and trying to balance life between touring and being home. This record sees us at a crossroad of sorts.”

“We wrote the record as a way to voice our frustrations with the things we put faith in that only brought us down on our crazy journey as Handguns. Being disenchanted with something is the first step to making positive chang-es to fall back in love with it.”

Check out the track via the image above. CM

NEWS: junior debut new videoThis Pop Punk trio from Cardiff, are an in-teresting bunch, consisting of a children’s book author, professional wrestler, and the head of a non-profit organisation, and yet they still find time to make music, and more importantly have fun with it!

Their video for ,‘If I Had The Time I’d Tell You I’m Not Sorry’ embraces this well! The band describe this song as their, ‘crowd surf’ song, which is easy to see with its fun high energy! It is taken from their upcom-ing EP, ‘Juniorland’. The song and video certainly is short but sweet, keeping things to the point. Something I don’t think they will ever be ‘sorry’ for!

“Juniorland” is due for release October 16th 2015. Stream the video via the image above. CL

ep review: thelem-we aint the same (ft t-man)Thelem’s brand new and much anticipated We Ain’t The Same EP was just released on Artikal Music UK. The album features three 140 BPM bangers alongside three, sub-loaded 87 BPM tracks. The EP features T-Man, a Man-chester based MC who spits fire over the haunting and heavy pulses of Thelem’s productions.

In this EP, perfectly separated frequencies shoot through the speaker, collaborating to raise the tension and drop into bass-pumped, synthetic and dark atmospheres. A lot of the sounds are reminiscent of the style he started towards in his previous Haunted Harmonics EP, (Artikal Music UK, 28/04/2014). Many of the songs, like Get A Grip and Equippin’, have that melodic, detuned, fuzz pushed over the sub bass. Surrounding this focus sound are dangerous arpeggiations, delayed triplets and rattling percussion which both trips and keeps the beat’s pace.

As we’ve seen with Thelem in his previous Artikal EP, or if you’ve ever seen him live in the mix, you’ll know he’s prone to mixing in some mind-bending, sub-driven, drum and bass alongside the dubstep he’s best known for. This EP seems to have been split in that respect and three out of the six tracks are drum and bass. This could show a shift in direction for him. However, it is more likely something that he’s wanted to put out there for a while, which his live sets suggest.

There is an element of trap music in his basslines too. His dubstep tracks have that slow, bassy push to them. It was only natural that trap, which was formed of a combination of dubstep and a certain type of hip-hop, would eventually combine more heavily with dubstep. Thelem is currently pioneer-ing a seamless fusion of the two, generating an instantly recognisable sound in his tunes.

Thelem can be most often caught around the UK and following this release, I’m sure you’ll hear the likes of J:Kenzo, Piezo and Sleeper, alongside the rest of the Artikal crew, playing these wicked new tunes out and about. CM

NEWS:brian fallon teases solo workFormer the Gaslight Anthem frontman Brian Fallon has been teasing clips of his brand-new

solo material, taken from his upcoming album, Painkillers.

After announcing details of the record last week he’s taken to Instagram to unveil a few snippets of the record which is set to arrive early next year via Island Records in the United States, and Virgin/EMI over here. “I’m overjoyed to be making this solo record,” says Brian. “And I can’t wait to go out on the road with the new songs I have as well as to get to play the Elsie [The Horrible Crowes] album live again!”

news: metallica are recording right nowMetallica frontman James Hetfield has suggested in an interview with guitar pickup company EMG that the band are currently recording their long-awaited new album.

The album will be the follow-up to their 2008 offering, Death Magnetic. Back in May the band’s drummer Lars Ulrich gave a rather untelling update on the record: “Compared to the age of the Earth, and the age of man populating this wonderful planet, it’s very close by,” he said. “I wouldn’t hold my breath or skip going to the bathroom – but it’s coming.”

NEWS:tyler the creator hits out at feministsTyler, The Creator has responded to a feminist campaign that recent-ly tried to have him barred entry to Australia in his new track, Fuck It.

The track takes aim at feminist ac-tivist group Collective Shout, which recently caused the rapper to can-cel his Australian tour. That wasn’t the first time his lyrics have gotten him into trouble, as he was recently banned from enterting the UK for up to five years.

In the song, which is quite simply moronic regardless of its subject matter, he addresses accusations of misogyny and homophobia with “witty” lines like “How can I be misogynist / Love titties and ass / How can I be homopho-bic when my boyfriend’s a fag”. Sigh. Check it out via the image above. AN

NEWS: skindred debut new trackWelsh metallers Skindred are gearing up to release their new album, Volume, on October 30th, and have re-leased a song of the same name.

Skindred will also be releasing a new film, Rude Boys For Life. The piece will document their past seventeen years as a band. Check out the video for Volume via the image above. Skindred are off on a UK tour with Crossfaith, (hed) PE and Yashin on the following dates in November.

NEWS: a new gorillaz album is comingIn a recent interview with DIY, Gorillaz co-founder Ja-mie Hewlett has confirmed that recording sessions have begun for the band’s massively anticipated comeback album.

“I’m working on it at the moment, and it’s going very well,” he said. “I’m very excited. I don’t want to say too much about it, but I’m at that phase of experimentation. What I try not to do when I’m working in this creative period, the cooking of the mess, is go to other peoples’ exhibitions and look at other peoples’ work. I close my eyes, and don’t want to know what anyone else is doing. Doing that has kind of ruined the creative process for me in the past, and I don’t want to let that happen again,” Hewlett has also been teasing new character artwork, some of which you can see on this page. news: francis lawrence talks mockingjay part 2It’s a definite relief to some, the Hunger Games franchise is about to end, but with the final instalment still to come we can’t quite forget about it all just yet- Francis Lawrence has sat down with SFX magazine to talk about why he didn’t go all out with the violence in the final chapter.

“Visually it’s different because it’s a very different story,” shares Lawrence. “The last one takes place underground and Katniss is sidelined. There’s a lot less action and it’s dark and claustrophobic. This one’s very different. Very quickly we’re out of District 13 and in District 2. And we spend a lot of time in the Capitol. That gives a different foundation for visual choices that opens the film up in a much bigger way. It’s much more epic.”

“I think it’s also much more similar tonally to the first two movies. The war in this movie is essentially an arena. There are definitely shared themes throughout the entire series. This is the movie where all of the themes coalesce. The last one was about propaganda and the media and the manipulation of imagery. Those aspects and the consequences of war and violence all come together here.”

Was he worried the violence might alienate the films fanbase of squealing teen-age girls? “I was both concerned and determined not to flinch,” he admits. “One of the big themes of this story is violence – the effects of violence and the con-sequences of it. These books are targeted at teenagers. Part of the reason they appealed is that Suzanne didn’t flinch. And luckily people have embraced it. You also don’t want to flinch.”

“But you don’t want to get an R rating and alienate all the teenagers that the books are meant for. My goal was not to focus on the carnage, on the bloodbath aspect of it, but on the emotional impact, the emotional consequences. We did the things that are in the book. It needs to have impact. That’s where you don’t want to flinch. You just don’t need to fetishise the blood, the carnage and the gore.”

Directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 hits UK cinemas November 20th 2015. AN

NEWS: jj abrams talks star warsIts December release date is al-most here, and J.J. Abrams has confirmed that he’s actually got a completed copy of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, meaning that he can finally sit down and reas-sure fans that the power of Disney hasn’t diluted his vision.

“When you do a Disney project, there’s a clause in there that you kind of go, ‘Well, if I were a lawyer I could probably drive a truck through it’,” said Abrams in reference to the studio’s ability to take a project out of a director’s hands should it wish.

“I cannot say enough about how Bob Iger and Alan Horn have understood this thing that is now part of the Dis-ney company,” continues Abrams. “And they’re not trying to Disney-fy it, they’re not doing anything other than, I think, an incredibly smart thing, which is letting Kathleen Kennedy — who is a remarkable person and producer — run and lead Lucasfilm to a place where I think it wants to go.”

Starring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac, Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in the UK on December 17th 2015. AN

NEWS: hail, caesar trailer arrivesGeorge Clooney, Josh Brolin, Frances Mc-Dormand and Tilda Swinton are just some of the stars appearing in the trailer for the Coen Brothers new move, Hail, Caesar! Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Jo-nah Hill and Ralph Fiennes, who have never featured in a Coen Brothers movie before, are also starring.

Set in Hollywood during the 1950s, Hail, Caesar! is the story of Eddie Mannix (Brolin), the head of physical production at Capital Pictures and the studio’s fixer. It’s his job to make sure that a clean reputation is maintained by the company and its stars, keeping them and it way out of any dodgy press that might affect their public appeal. Mannix soon finds that star Baird Whitlock (Clooney) is missing, having not turned up for work on production of their new movie, Hail Caesar, a Tale of Christ’s Life. His initial assumption is that Whitlock has merely been out drinking and hasn’t emerged from his hole yet, but a phone call soon complicates things- a group of communists claim to have kidnaped the star, and are demanding a ransom. Mannix must find the actor, and keep it all out of the gossip columns at the same time.

Hail, Caesar will be released February 2016. Check out the trailer via the image above.

NEWS: BRYAN CRANSTON WANTS TO PLAY AN X-MEN VILLAINBryan Cranston has in the past spoken about his desire to play a comic book character, stating that he’d love to play a character “from scratch”. Well, it would seem, according to a chat he had with Metro, that he’s set his sights a little broader.

During an appearance at the SuperMansion Panel at New York Comic Con, Cranston stated that he’d be keen to play the part of a specific antagonist- Mr. Sinister. One of the most infamous supervillains in the X-Men portion of the Marvel universe, he’s a telepathic, shapeshifting, regenerating dude that makes most big bads look like kittens.

Mr Sinister has yet to be featured on the big-screen so Cranston’s star power may well lead to this desire having legs. Watch this space. AN

news: the expendables 4 gets release dateIt might be a franchise that’s already been done to death, but variety has reported that The Expendables 4 is officially all confirmed. The film will begin production next year ahead of a 2017 release date.

No casting announcements have been made yet, but it would prob-ably be safe to assume that the

core team, helmed by Sylvester Stallone, will be returning. The film’s confirmation comes in the wake of a deal with SP International Pictures on behalf of SSXH Beijing and Max Screen Film Distribution, which includes equity investments and Chinese distribution rights. That means its likely that the fourth movie will include locations in China and, we expect, some Chinese bad guys. Stereotypes too. AN

film review: the martianIf you like the idea of watching an isolated Matt Damon wander around a deso-late planet for two and half hours, then this is the film for you. However, if you’re like me and don’t have that in your ‘list of what makes films good’, then you will probably get quite bored, like me.

From the trailers and general overview of The Martian, we know that the film is about a man who is stuck on Mars for a long time. Spoiler alert! It really isn’t much more than that. Like a lot of books that have been made into films, it seems that the action and ideas are really much more suited for the written medium. You only see the character’s thoughts and feelings through their actions in film, but books allow the character’s mind to speak to you directly. I think that would work better for a guy who’s alone on Mars.

Matt Damon’s character, Mark Watney, constantly reels off jokes, which are sub-par. They feel far too geared towards knowing there’s a cinema audience sitting in front of them. Obviously, all films know that there’s an audience watching them (you would hope), but this one doesn’t do well in hiding the fact. Mark Watney reels off pop culture references and jokes about his situation just to keep you entertained, rather than himself. Obviously it’s meant to show how bright his attitude is in the face of danger, but it would be better if he were actually funny.

Not only that, but the film treats you like a fool. There were far too many mo-ments where complicated mathematics and space ship trajectories were ex-plained through the use of condiments and general stationary. I know I’m not a rocket scientist, but save me the floating staplers and whooshing noises, Ridley.

Ok, so there are some good elements to this film. The cinematography is stun-ning and if you want to see top budget renditions of the orange, endless and lifeless Mars, then you won’t be disappointed. Much of the film is spent overlook-ing the vast orange terrains with a classically sci-fi score from Harry Gregson-Wil-liams… and a lot of 70’s disco music (Guardians of the Galaxy appears to have started a trend). Another part, which I appreciated, was that there was no love interest! Finally Hollywood, you break one rule of your rigid film structure!

Those two points however, don’t make up for the boredom and sheer length of the film. But if you’re a fan of Matt Damon, then I’m sure you’ll find some joy in the dusty desert of Mars. CM

HOWLS-REST WELL

the lucid experiment- she's my melody

The song lingers over the pensive thoughts in its lyrics before reaching a new level of energy in the chorus, seething in a apparent frustration at the world’s current state of affairs. You can only applaud the worldly scope of the subject matter and how concise the thoughts and emotion behind it are. This band know what their message is and just how they want to communicate it.

wolf like child-wars

The song starts with a simple guitar rift that is carried on through much of the song, and immediately an asso-ciation with bands like Dire Straits is created. It’s very easy to get into the groove of the track and special credit has to be given to the extremely dynamic bassline that underscores majority of the song. Towards the mid-dle and end it morphs from a saharan sunset roadtrip track to an increasingly psy-chedelic experience, before ending with a comfortable descent back from outer space.

Rest Well was released early, as a little teaser of what the band had to offer. Packed with intense depth and emotion that builds ten-sion, the track takes head banging to a whole new level.
