9.10.17

The reaction of the disbelievers is penetrated into their system. Whenever someone comes to them with a message, they will straight away mock and ridicule them. The believer must never mock anyone. If this happens to you, when you do da’awah, tell yourself that this is what happened to the messengers. This fact will make it easier for you to bear it.

Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals.

Why do they find it irresistible to mock and ridicule the messengers? This reaction is built in for them; it is not their nature, but it is inserted into their hearts. It is like a compulsion, they can’t hold themselves back. Deen brings balance and order to life; this compulsion is

caused by other triggers.

Why do they compulsively mock and ridicule the messages? Their behaviour resulted in this action of Allah, of inserting this reaction in them, so that they can’t avoid it.

The word نسلكه is derived from the verb سلك, which means : 🔹 threading a needle

🔹 pass through

🔹 follow The eye of a needle is so tiny and narrow, only a single thin thread will pass through it.

The way of the person who goes forth to seek knowledge is made easy by Allah. The intention must be only to seek knowledge for the pleasure of Allah. The thread has to go through the eye of the needle, so the person will pass on his way, a little constricted in the beginning, to show his truthfulness, and then smoothly, like a thread when it goes through the eye of the needle.

The word سلك gives the impression that there is hole, and something enters through it.

Fasting constricts the veins, so that the shaitan cannot enter and whisper to us, whereas too much eating will cause the veins to expand, making it easy for the shaitan to enter.

Allah gives a mini parable to explain this phenomenon. Imagine the needle as the heart, and the thread as the mockery and ridicule. The sickness of the heart of the disbeliever causes a hole to appear in his heart, causing him to reject the message and the messenger, accusing him of being a madman. This behavior of rejecting the message and maligning the messenger results in the actions of mockery and ridicule to be inserted into his heart by Allah, much as the thread is inserted into the eye of a needle.

The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل : said عليه وسلم

من سلك طريقا يلتمس فيه علما ، سهل اهلل له طريقا إلى الجنة

Whoever follows a path in the pursuit of knowledge, Allah will

make easy for him a path to Paradise.

This makes it so clear for us to understand the behavior of the disbelievers. We can pity them, because their reaction is a punishment for them, which they don’t realize. Allah in never unfair to His slaves; they brought this punishment upon themselves by their rejection. Allah doesn’t like oppression and injustice. So now their reaction to the truthful message is inherent to them. This urge to mock and ridicule the messenger is uncontrollable, it is in their hearts, and the heart is the controller of the person. People will go to Jannah and the hellfire because of their hearts.

They are criminals, so they deserve the punishment. They are complete criminals, not those on the edge; we see this because it is defined by ال. They are immersed in this characteristic of crime.

The word مجرمني is a noun, إسم the title of the doer, which ,مفعولis like a stamp, unchanging. The criminals are actually harming

themselves, Allah is unaffected by their crimes. All sins are crimes, albeit of varying degrees. Those who are criminals from all aspects are referred to as مجرمني. This is their characteristic, as if they are clothed with crime. So they are punished by Allah.

Allah will open the dunya for these criminals as a punishment, this is اإلستدراج, so that they are deceived into thinking they are doing nothing wrong, and will increase in their crimes. The dunya has no value with Allah, so He will let the criminals enjoy it, and then they will go to the hellfire.

Bad behaviour is a punishment, but sadly, satire and mockery and ridicule are the norm now, and have been become an art form. These people are criminals, so they can’t handle a da’ee in their lives. Crimes and mockery go hand in hand. You can expect a criminal to behave in this way. We can trace their crimes from the beginning of the surah, they are a chain. When they are mocking and ridiculing you, remember this is a punishment for them. This will make it easy for you it bear their behaviour.

Don’t reject any message that comes to you to you without analyzing it. If you want a peaceful life, submit to Allah. When you surrender to Allah, you will find everything easy. If you resist, you are unhappy. Kufr is a great crime, it covers all goodness.

They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples. The behaviour of mockery and ridiculing is preserved in their hearts. This goes with the theme of the Surah, the protection of the deen. Whatever reminders they get, they will not believe, because they are criminals, and

this has been inserted into their hearts.

The own who mocked the messengers will see everyone mocking him, so he will think he is retaliating. Whatever signs and messages come to him, he will not believe. He will never take the messages seriously, never see their importance, he will never believe in the unseen. These feelings in their hearts will prevent them from belief.

أال وإن لكل ملك حمى ، أال وإن حمى اهلل محارمه ، أال وإن في الجسد مضغة

believer is to increase faith and his store of good deeds. We must accept the reminders and the messengers with a good heart. The criminals will never believe, however much you try. Disbelief is not a light matter. The state of the disbeliever is like the dead.

This is the way of Allah, unchanging; it is not a new concept. This is how Allah dealt with the previous nations. All of them mocked and ridiculed the messengers.

The word خلت comes from the verb خال, empty, a vacuum. Everyone is originally a believer, and the disbeliever becomes empty of his belief, it is gone. So they are empty, alone and isolated.

The Sunnah is a way and a principle. The way of the disbelievers is always the same, through the ages, so Allah deals with them in the same way too.

يئ وال يحيق استكبارا في األرض ومكر السيئ إال بأهله فهل ينظرون إال سنت املكر الساألولني فلن تجد لسنت اهلل تبديال ولن تجد

لسنت اهلل تحويال [Due to] arrogance in the land and

plotting of evil; but the evil plot does not encompass except its own people. Then do they await except the way of the

former peoples? But you will never find in the way of Allah any change, and you will

never find in the way of Allah any alteration. سورة فاطر
