Dissection Lab Local veterinarian

conducts a dissection lab at her clinic to discuss anatomy.

Species obtained from local animal shelter. (Animals used were scheduled to be put down)

Animal Medical Clinic of Loudon County came to school to conduct physical exams.

She showed the students how to check vital signs and how to determine the body condition score for dogs and cats.

Microscope Lab Local Vet conducts

microscope parasite lab with students.

Shows slides of various parasites, discusses how parasites are spread, and treatment and prevention.

Spay and Neuter Surgeries Local animal

shelter and veterinarian let students observe spay and neuter surgeries.

UT Vet School Students are given

a tour of the UT Vet school.

They were given information on application and admission procedures.

Knoxville Zoo Behind the scenes

tour of the clinic Students talk to the

veterinary technicians on staff about daily tasks they perform.

Veterinary technicians give the students information about animals they are treating so the students can look for those animals when touring the zoo.

Small Ruminant Physicals

Lake Loudon Veterinarian did class lectures on small ruminant animals.

She brought a goat and a llama for the students to conduct physical exams on to the school.

Horse Lab

The veterinarian that owns Lake Loudon Veterinary Clinic let the students come out to her farm to perform various tasks on horses.

She taught the students how to check vitals, perform a lameness test, take a blood sample, float teeth, and trim hooves.

Students were allowed to tour the processing plant beginning with the holding pen.

The design and layout of the kill floor was also explained to the students.

Students were shown what the responsibility of a veterinarian is in a processing plant.

Young Williams Animal Shelter Students were

able to tour the shelter.

The quarantine and adoption process was explained to the students.

Students observed multiple spay and neuter surgeries.

East TN Livestock Center

Students observed a local veterinarian conduct pregnancy checks for a cow sale.

Students were taught how to age the cattle.
