Under the ground of London, there hides a farm. Two men have founded this farm together. Why don’t we take a visit now?　　 The farm is located in an abandoned tunnel, 100 feet under the ground. The founders grow leafy greens on this farm.

Hello, boys and girls. Nice to meet you all! I’m the mascot of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Now please let me introduce myself to you.　　 My name is Fuleco. It’s a meaningful name. It combines two Portuguese words together. “Ful” comes from the word “Futebol (Football)” and “eco” comes from “Ecologia (Ecology)”. Interesting, isn’t it?

I am an armadillo—an endangered animal native to Brazil. My body is yellow and I have a long blue tail. I wear a white T-shirt and a pair of green shorts. I am always happy to welcome people from all over the world.　　 Do you know what my favourite sport is? Yes, it’s football. See? I take a football with me all the time!

世界杯即国际足联世界杯，是世界上最高荣誉、最高规格、最高水平、最高含金量、最高知名度的足球比赛。世界杯每四年举办一次，与奥运会并称为全球体育界两大最顶级的赛事，其转播覆盖率甚至超过奥运会。

　　首届世界杯比赛于 1930 年举办，冠军是主办国乌拉圭队； 1942 年和 1946 年的世界杯因第二次世界大战而停办。

　　在过去已举办的 19 届赛事中，共有 8 个国家曾赢得冠军。巴西队是唯一打进全部 19 届决赛圈的球队，共赢得5 次冠军。意大利队获得 4 次冠军，仅次于巴西。中国国家队曾在 2002 年日韩世界杯首次闯进世界杯小组赛。

　　大力神杯是现今足球世界杯的奖杯，是足球界最高荣誉的象征。大力神杯高 36 厘米，重 4.97 公斤，由 18K黄金铸成，造型为两个大力士双手高举地球。

The Whales’ Song (II) Lily’s uncle walked into the room.

“Nonsense!” he shouted. “Whales were important for their meat and bones. People used to eat them and boil them down for oil!” Then he turned his back and went out to the garden.

That night, Lily dreamed about whales. In her dreams she saw them, as large as mountains. In her dreams she heard them singing, their voices like the wind. In her dreams they called her name.

Next morning, Lily went down to the ocean. She walked to the end of the old jetty. She took a yellow flower out of her pocket and dropped it in the water.

“This is for you,” she called into the air.
