Description:Design a magazine cover that showcases a self-portrait as well as articles about yourself.

Date: 9/29/2016

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 05Doug Holladay

Program(s)/Tools: Photoshop, Illustrator

Objectives:Create a working layout of a magazine you create. Using Photoshop and Illustrator merge your self portrait with your text.

Process: I wanted to focus on things that I really love and so I centered my focus on traveling and my photography. I ended up creating my own magazine title about traveling. I could honestly fill a magazine about different topics and tips, trips, and also travel photography. I would love to travel solo, and there is so much bias & bad thoughts about women traveling alone, but it can really be a great thing! I have done some travel photography and wish to continue it as a career after graduation. My last block is travel places in Oregon because that is where im from. There are hundreds of amazing places to visit in Oregon that are from senic to high adventure activities.

Description:Design a website homepage using a grid.

Date: 12/16/16

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Douge Holladay

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:create a web page layout for a new company website to communicate the executive committee’s vision to the web developer. Your full color, high definition, accurate prototype will serve as the blueprint for the new website. The web developer has requested wireframe and a .psd with layers based on the 960 web design grid for accurate sizing and precise coding.

Process: I dediced that I would continue my theme of using my own company for a design. I then started sketching an idea of how I wanted to lay it out. I wanted a simple and easily navigated page that hilighted my photos. After I sketched it on paper, I then opened Photoshop and opened the 16-column grid. I started to create my wireframe to get me started. After my wireframe, I started to add the actual content. My final design ended up being a little different from my original sketch and wireframe as I altered my title and photo layouts.

Description:A two sided folding brochure for a company.

Date: 12/1/16

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Doug Holladay

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe PhotoshopInDesignIllustrator

Objectives:design a full-color, folding brochure to help promote the company product, service or location. The purpose of your brochure may be informational or advertising. Use all three programs you have learned to create your brochure: design a logo in Illustrator, edit images in Photoshop, and design the brochure layout in InDesign.

Process: I first sketched and did a mock up of my brochure. Then I went into InDesign and started to create my brochure. I wrote my body copy in word and then added how I wanted it to fit. I then added my backgrounds and put in my images to InDesign that I had previously edited in Photoshop. A bit of rearanging went into the placement. At the end I exported the brochure document as a pdf for printing.

Photo DesignDescription:A personally taken photograph that has been edited/formatted using Photoshop.

Date: 10/13/16

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Douge Holladay

Program(s)/Tools: Canon reble T3i CameraAdobe Photoshop

Objectives:Learn basic photography skills. You are asked to submit a full-bleed, 8.5 by 11, photodesign project that includes an original, new quality image Useing a digital camera , Size and crop the image., a consistent color scheme based on that image, some text, and a few design elements.

Process: I decided what color scheme I was going to use. I loved the bronze watch my roommate had and I wanted to use that. I edited my photo slightly through the levels, saturation, and focus. I created a new 8.5 x 11 inch document in Photoshop with a brown background. Then I pulled my photo on top of it and masked half of it. I added the triangle on the left and then the text. I tried to keep a good flow throughout the design. I also made sure to pay attention to alignment.

Description:Design a spiritual poster montage using the blend of images and type..

Date: 10/20/16

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Doug Holladay

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:Learn to manage Photoshop layers.Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks.Use filters.Apply appropriate typography.

Process: I wanted to work with a photo of the D.C temple in my montage because it is where my parents were married and sealed. I then went through photos of landscapes that I recently had taken and found this great photo of a road here in Idaho. I then decided to merge them with one of my favorite quotes. In Photoshop I started with my main road photo, copied it, and added in the temple. After masking part of the background and temple, I added blur and decreased opacity to create the feel of atmospheric perspective and to give it the look of a mirage. I then added my quote and adjusted the text to fit well, be positioned right with the contrasting shadows, and to avoid widows.I then added and adjusted my border for a more professional and complete feel.

Description:Create an instructional presentation using the Prezi software to demonstrate it’s features and capabilities.

Date: 10/6/16

Course/Instructor:Comm 130Douge Holladay

Program(s)/Tools: PreziPhotoshop

Objectives:Using your topic that you chose, create an informative presentation for a client. The presentation should be within 10-15 frames and should be interesting.

Process: I’m semi familiar with Prezi so I first looked at a few examples. Creating my Prezi presentation started with researching a topic I love and chose a main theme,Traveling, then I started sketching. I sketched a background layout that I wanted to create and how the flow of the slides should go. I used a desert scene as my travel location. I then opened up Photoshop and used it to create my background by adding text to my original photo. I then added elements like my hat and map, then masked the bottom of the text to give it a feel for sitting in the sand. Next I went into Prezi, added my background, and started adding my slide sections. I added background music to finish it up.

Objectives:Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. gather data on a trending topic assigned by your project manager. Now, you will create any type of infographic to be shared on Pinterest as well as the company’s blog.

Process: I brainstormed some topics and decided to use Oregon land usage since I have such a love of Oregon. I did research to find data about the land usage. Next I sketched out an outline of information and made a layout of my doc. I then designed graphics that I knew I wanted to include. Next I opened up Illustrator and started assembling my Infographic. I created the pie charts and other graphics to organize the data, and added all my information.

Description:Three logo variations for the same company.

Date: 2/23/13

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 05Eric Lybbert

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:Create a variety of logos to fit a company or personal image.Use the basic tools of Illustrator.

Process: This was really fun to create a logo in Illustrator. I used the ellipse tool to create the basic shape of the tomato. I then used the direct select tool to manipulate some of the curves. This gave the shape a more tomato look. I then used the pen tool to make the stem and leaves. Most of the other elements are just typography. I made sure to choose fonts from contrasting categories to capitalize on the contrast. I also tried getting some more contrast by changing the sizes of the words.
