I brainstormed ideas and thoughts about what is important to me and chose a few that I felt represented me well. I had many photographs taken and found one that I liked and that was real and authentic. I adjusted some settings with the photo in photoshop to get the desired look, and then spent the remainder of time on the typography. I wanted something fun and bright with good contrast.

I decided to showcase Pittsburgh becuase that’s where I live and I love this place. I collected photos that I thought represented some of the best attractions in the city and imported them into Prezi. I designed the cover with a photo that I felt would draw the audience in and give a fun vibe to the city. I choose contrasting fonts that would work well together and enhance the theme I was going for.

Brochure

I chose to design a brochure for a company that I found inspiring and uplifting. I love well crafted children’s toys, and so I found images that captured the beauty and power of toys. I created my layout in InDesign and worked with the placement of images and text until I found a solution I was happy with. I added simple design elements to create unity and repetition.

Infographic

Create an infographic that organizes data in a visually pleasing way.

To represent some data and information visually.

I chose Harry Potter for my topic and gathered information on different sub topics. I decided to go with the sorting hat and the different houses of hogwarts, becuase I thought it would be a fun way for the audience to interact with the information that was being given. I designed the elements in Illustrator, I used textured backgrounds to create more of a magical feel, and I organized my data into charts.

I took this photo of my daughter and worked alot in Photoshop to adjust settings. I was trying to keep a good color scheme between text and image. I designed with the goal in mind to have unity and to send a clear and uplifting message.

Create a webpage mockup that a web developer could use to build a website.

To design a webpage in Photoshop for a company that uses good design principles.

I researched websites that I liked and admired and decided to go with a landscape design firm that could use clean design. I found a high quality image that would be the focal point and decided to make it the biggest part of the page. I then added the title header and links and wanted those to stay minimal so the photo would carry the power of the design.

Design a spiritual montage poster blending images and type.

To create an uplifting spiritual message visually using image and text.

I thought of a spiritual theme that resonates with me and then found photos that I thought would work well to blend to create a stronger message. I used one of my daughter and one of the mysterious stars and night sky to communicate the eternal and powerful worth of souls.

To gain experience with HTML and CSS by designing a website and coding a website.

I used my logo from my business identity project, and inserted it into a template that allowed me to alter the coding in a way where I could customize the websites features and layout. I found a background that worked well and softened the sterile look of the original template, and altered other things to give a unified feel.
