“I was tak-

ing photographs and then he started to reach

out with his arm. I was looking for the view and I

couldn’t see him reaching out. He suddenly grabbed

me with his hand that is the size of a baseball glove.

It’s like a bunch of bananas.” Mark Roberts, a free-

lance sound recordist, is telling the audience about

his encounter with a full grown, 150 kilos male

orangutan when he was recording for a documen-

tary in the forest of Borneo. “So I was being held by

that big ape and I couldn’t do anything about it. I

was literally, you know, his playmate. So the people

were running around, trying to distract his attention

and they were throwing down bananas and bits of

oranges. And he was just going ‘Go on, go on.’” The

room bursts into a wave of laughter and the story

ends

with the

orangutan finally picking up

some watermelon and Roberts himself being

dragged to safety.

Roberts was born and raised in England, and

he looks Asian because of the Malaysia heri-

tage from his mother’s side. He has more than

20 years of experience as a professional sound

recordist. He has worked for BBC, NBC and

dozens of video production companies. He has

done documentaries, dramas and commercials,

but he particularly enjoys filming science and

natural history. Roberts moved to Hong Kong

in 1993 and he now lives here with his son and

wife.

S o m e t h i n g that cannot be T A U G H TR oberts says he always did very badly at school

and he never studied in university, and his in-

terest in video started when he was in Further Edu-

cation College. When Roberts was 17, Robert’s god-

father, who was a musician, advised him to apply for

BBC. Roberts succeeded in the interview for the BBC

Academy and got a place.

We tell Roberts how Hong Kong people are accus-

tomed to the belief that without higher education,

one is unlikely to live a life as interesting and suc-

cessful as Roberts’s, and he responds with the story of

his admission interview for BBC. There were 5 can-

didates in the waiting room and Robert was number

5. The other 4 people went in and came out within 10

minutes. Knowing that BBC was a very tough train-

ing ground to get into, he had spent a whole week

before the admission interview trying to memoriz-

ing things in technical books. But to his surprise, he

wasn’t asked technical questions. “Question 1: When

is the weather getting any better? And question 2:

When am I gonna get rid of this stupid cold?” says

Roberts, recounting the interview. Roberts started a

conversation with the interviewer and stayed in the

room for 45 minutes. He realized that it was a per-

sonality interview. At the end, the interviewer said to

him “I’m sure you really like reading about his tech-

nical thing. That’s f ine. You’re gonna learn all that

and you’re gonna be sick and tired of learning about

that stuff. But what you have to realize is that we can’t

teach you to be nicer people.”

“And that’s essentially the philosophy I always live

with,” concluded Roberts.

U n p l a n n e d path of success

T he admission interview was in February but the Academy

would not start until October. While he waited for the time

to pass, he worked as a bicycle mechanic every Saturday. One day,

a customer, who happened to be sound engineer, gave Roberts his

card and said to him “Look, if you ever want to come and see how

a TV program is made, give me a call.” It took Roberts a month to

gather enough courage to call. After the f irst visit in a TV station

in London, Roberts started working there as a boom man, once a

week at f irst. At the fourth week, people asked Roberts to defer the

BBC Academy for a year and work full t ime at the TV station f irst.

It was a wise choice that Roberts took the offer. “By the end of the

f irst year, I have learnt way more than the BBC could teach,” says

Roberts. Roberts stayed at the company for a total of 4 years.

‘LISTENING’TOTHENATUREF ilming documentaries for a living, Roberts gets to go to very

special places and stays longer than a normal tourist would. He

kept on going back to rain forests, and he compared his experience at

the rain forests to looking at paintings. “You go to an art gallery and

you walk along and move on to the next one. But when you’re actually

embedded into the rainforest, you sit there and let it al l wash over you.

Over time, you start to see things, you start to hear things, and you

think, ‘Wow!’ There is a lot more to hear than what f irst meets the eye.”

“If you’re making a movie, you tell the actor ‘Okay, stand there. Say

your line. Walk from there to there.’ You can’t do that with a wild an-

imal,” says Roberts. There had been times when the crew had to wait

for days to get the perfect shot. In those long hours of waiting, the only

thing to do would be to stay awake, tel l each other stories and keep an

eye on the weather. If the weather changes or the animal to be f i lmed

comes back, the crew jumps into action.

A nother problem for documentary f i lming in the

wild is unknown danger. For Roberts, it is al l about

lessening the risk. They make sure the team do nothing si l ly and

work as a team of experts in their f ields. They do not go rock climb-

ing unless they have got rock climbing licenses, and they do not go div-

ing unless they have got diving licenses. Crew members are also med-

ically trained so that they can administer f irst aid. “The last

thing you want is to be with a group of people

who could nothing when somebody

gets injured. And that hap-

pens somtimes.”

Roberts recalls the time he was f i lming sharks and

interviewing a scientist in a sea in Bahamas. The

water was at waist-level and the sharks were swim-

ming around their legs. It looked just exciting to

Roberts, before the water turning red. A shark was

dragging the scientist into deeper water. When the sci-

entist was pulled to safety, his leg was already cut to

the bone. “All his muscle was gone and he was in severe

shock,” Roberts recalls. “So while I was keeping his leg safe and from getting infected,

we had somebody else look after his head and another per-

son look after his chest. We were talking to him, calming him

down. And that was all because we’d been trained to do that.

You don’t want somebody going ‘Oh my God, oh my God, this

guy’s going to die.’ There’s no time for that.”You won’t f ind him in L a n K w a i F o n g

R oberts’s profession is not an easy one for relationships. “There are a lot of breakups in the documentary world,”

says Roberts. But he has a very special wife who has been putting up with him being away for the past 20 years.

Roberts’s wife is a Hongkonger and the fact that she has a big family here makes things a lot easier. “So if I’m away for

a long period, it makes life just a litt le bit easier, knowing that she is at least with her own family here.”

Whenever Roberts came back to Hong Kong from a long work trip, he would do nothing but stay with his family, taking

up all the responsibilit ies, as he put it , that he would have missed out on. He would pick his son up from school, take

him to sports or movies, and cook at home. “So you won’t f ind me going to Lan Kwai Fong,” says Roberts.

L essening the risk

Documentary in Hong KongR oberts thinks that it is relatively

easy to f i lm on the streets in Hong

Kong, although there are certain areas in

which they had got stopped and securi-

ty off icers said “Sorry, you cannot f i lm

here.” In spite of that, Robert sti l l thinks

Hong Kong is good for documentary f i lm

makers. “It always comes down to being

nice to people. Don’t make a big fuss or

try to have a big presence when you’re on

the streets. Keep it small. You just need a

camera man and a director.”

Roberts thinks Hong Kong has not devel-

oped its local market enough. He points

out a lack in training of local talent in

making documentaries. The reason, he

believes, is that f i lming documentaries

does not make much money. There was a

time when Hong Kong ran out of stories

after 1997, because everybody had done

a story about the 1997 handover. Then

there came the SARS and the f inancial

crisis. Slowly, Hong Kong started to be-

come a story again. “And here we are, 15

years now, after the handover. And peo-

ple are starting to ask questions—‘What’s

going on?’ Socially, right now in Hong

Kong, it’s now one of the most fascinat-

ing times, because we have a lot of con-

f lict between Hongkongers and China.”

Apart from stories, Hong Kong also has

the landscapes for f i lming. “In another

country, let’s say, if I was shooting in Lon-

don, I couldn’t have a beautiful harbor, a

busy central business district, beautiful

beaches and rolling hil lsides, al l of that

within an hour’s drive. Here, you’ve got

al l of that,” says Roberts. The last major

documentary about the wildlife in Hong

Kong was made 20 years ago, in 1992, by

a friend of Roberts’. A lot has probably

changed in the 20 years and Hong Kong

is beyond ready for another documentary

series on its wildlife. Roberts adds, “An-

imals are only as interesting as the view-

ers are.” Hong Kong has 26 different spe-

cies of bats and Roberts says he knows of

a person who has spent his life studying

bats in Hong Kong. “You get him to talk

on camera about the importance of bats,

people will watch, because there is some-

body passionate about animals. If you get

an animal, especially a very interesting

animal, and an interesting person with

that animal, you’re halfway there to get-

ting a story.”

Asked whether a documentary about

Lung Mei Bay should be f i lmed, Roberts

says Hong Kong has lots of other aspects

that need to be raised. One of them is

the frontier close area between Hong

Kong and mainland China. “It has been

off limits for years. You have this very

rich wildlife in there, but nobody goes

in there,” says Roberts. He worries that

when China gets busier, more roads will

be crossing and developers will build in

the now untouched area.

Pollution in China

R oberts thinks of China as a green place despite what we read and

hear on the news. He thinks China has actually been doing a lot to

reverse its bad environmental record. “It’s just that, unfortunately, the West

chooses to focus on the negative side of China,” says Roberts, despite China’s

environmental predicament. “The pollution in Beijing last week had been off

the scale, and factories in Guangzhou are sti l l pouring harmful chemicals. All

these things are true. But China now has more eco-friendly cars than America

does. They’re also doing a lot of good with reusable energy ; they’re using solar pow-

er and wind power. There are a lot of things China is doing, but it’s a huge place. It’s

not going to happen overnight.” Roberts points out the fact that 2 centuries ago, people

were doing things just as bad to London and the pollution there was awful. “Look what

we had done to the forests in the UK. We cut them all down. And yet we point the f ingers

at Brazil and Indonesia and say ‘You can’t cut down trees.’ So, you know, these people in the

West are in some way very hypocritical,” said Roberts.

　　「自我介紹？呃……我叫Stephen，雙子座，未婚。」在香港土生土長的八十後 鍾 振 傑 S t e p h e n ， 在 讀 大 學 時 到 過 芬 蘭 交 流 ， 從 此 愛 上 了 E x c h a n g e 的 生 活 。 -S t e p h e n 在 交 流 時 喜 歡 遊 走 各 地 ， 但 不 愛 到 「 景 點 」 參 觀 ， 「 如 果 你 想 去 比 薩 斜塔 ， 你 可 以 上 網 找 到 一 百 張 比 薩 斜 塔 的 相 片 ， 人 人 都 用 手 指 戳 那 座 塔 ， 為 甚 麼 我 要拍 第 一 百 零 一 張 呢 ？ 我 寧 願 去 認 識 一 下 比 薩 斜 塔 下 的 人 。 」 S t e p h e n 認 為 華 人 比外 國 人 內 斂 ， 「 小 時 候 父 母 總 會 跟 你 說 ： 不 要 隨 便 與 陌 生 人 談 話 」 ， 令 外 國 遊 客 或到 香 港 工 作 的 外 地 人 很 難 認 識 到 本 地 的 人 與 文 化 。 於 是 他 希 望 辦 一 些 活 動 ， 令 外 國人知道到香港除了美食與購物之外，還有第三個選擇。

　 　 S t e p h e n 與 友 人 J o s i e 在 二 零 一 一

年二月開始構思成立香港Secret Tour，

利用空餘的時間搜集資料，帶團遊走各區

的大街小巷，參觀本地另類特色景點—不

是天壇大佛，不是山頂纜車，也不是海洋

公園，而是觀塘工廈、天水圍屋村商場、

黃大仙徙置區等等，探索一些連香港人都

未必知道的大小故事。「挑選行程地點的

首要因素是自己對該址有興趣，由朋友告

知有趣的資訊，然後對該區做資料搜集，

組成一條路線；或者找老人家訪談，聽些

故事，畢竟老人家知的事特別多。然後找

一個在該區居住的人走一次，若連他也覺

得有趣，值得行一趟，就會決定這路線為

Secret Tour。另外也想找一些人們原本

就知道的地方，但當你親身到訪後會有另

一番體驗，這就是我們組團的吸引之處。

譬 如 我 們 會 遊 墳 場 ， 並 且 會 由 祭 師 帶 領

着。體驗不是有一個會發聲的導賞員帶你

去一個地方，就能稱之為一個團。」

　 　 經 過 一 年 的 辦 團 經 驗 ， S t e p h e n 於

去 年 二 月 辭 去 廣 告 工 作 ， 全 力 投 入 S e -

cret Tour的業務。公司在今年三月時有

四 位 員 工 ， S t e p h e n 表 示 創 業 的 困 難 當

然以資金為首，其次是能力。所以起初有

Secret Tour的意念時先免費辦團一年，

累積經驗，並預計到這盤生意有潛力，於

是 決 定 開 辦 業 務 。 自 零 一 年 開 始 辦 團 以

來，他們共辦了約五十個團，每團大概有

二、三十人。記者本以為團友中以外國人

佔多數，但原來最初是香港人較多，「香

港人在本地居住，不會想發掘自己地方的

東西，就如你放假想去旅行，你不會說：

『我想到跑馬地看墳場。』但若有人跟你

說我們居住的地方其實很有趣，你就會想

去參加。不過收費以後就絕對是外地人較

多，因為香港人不會願意付費由別人帶自

己在香港逛一個下午。」

不秘密的Secret Tour

　 　 由 於 他 們 尚 未 獲 得 相 關 牌 照 ， 所

以Secret Tour不可以接待外地報團

的 人 ， 目 前 的 外 籍 團 友 都 是 來 香 港 工

作 並 有 香 港 身 分 證 的 人 。 記 者 好 奇 港

人 與 外 國 人 在 參 觀 時 的 反 應 有 甚 麼 不

同 ， S t e p h e n 說 兩 者 的 固 然 要 求 不

同 ， 他 認 為 港 人 對 旅 程 的 實 質 安 排 較

為 注 重 ， 比 如 步 行 的 距 離 、 導 遊 的 專

業 資 格 ； 至 於 外 國 旅 客 ， 英 國 人 則 要

守 時 ； 印 度 人 個 性 率 直 ， 會 馬 上 道 出

不 滿 或 想 知 的 事 情 ， 要 求 較 多 ， 需 多

加 了 解 他 們 ； 日 本 人 求 知 欲 很 強 ， 喜

歡 四 處 闖 蕩 。 S t e p h e n 指 常 見 的 女 性

B a c k p a c k e r （ 背 包 旅 行 者 ） 都 是 日

本 人 ， 即 使 她 們 的 英 語 能 力 未 夠 好 ，

都 會 自 己 一 人 去 旅 行 。 雖 然 團 友 來 自

五 湖 四 海 ， 各 有 所 需 ， 但 他 覺 得 要 令

他 們 開 心 其 實 不 太 難 ， 因 為 他 們 在 香

港的所看所聞均是新鮮的事物。

　 　 S t e p h e n 認 為 旅 行 中 ， 「 人 物 」

比 「 地 方 」 更 重 要 ， 不 論 是 團 友 還

是 參 觀 的 社 區 裡 的 人 ， 都 是 最 重 要 的

元 素 。 「 一 個 團 跟 自 己 一 人 的 旅 行 有

何 分 別 ？ 就 是 有 團 友 。 這 個 團 就 似

Speed dat ing一樣，團友在這數

小 時 的 旅 程 中 被 『 逼 』 着 跟 其 他 團 友

混 熟 ， 因 為 自 己 不 會 單 獨 遊 走 。 由 於

我 們 的 行 程 多 數 以 步 行 為 主 ， 很 少

乘 車 ， 旅 客 們 在 前 往 另 一 個 地 點 的 時

候 便 會 互 相 認 識 ， 聽 對 方 說 不 同 的 故

事 。 」 他 又 說 帶 團 期 間 非 必 要 時 自 己

會 較 少 發 言 ， 通 常 會 請 來 在 該 地 方 長

大 的 人 來 解 說 ， 比 起 由 他 自 己 來 說 更

有 效 果 。 例 如 S t e p h e n 想 請 圍 村 裡 的

人 擔 任 講 解 員 ， 主 要 是 靠 自 己 走 入 他

們 的 社 區 去 結 識 這 些 人 。 他 用 這 個 方

法 認 識 了 很 多 不 同 的 人 。 「 好 像 找 伯

伯 『 打 牙 骹 』 ， 一 開 頭 他 們 很 少 理 會

你 ， 但 當 打 開 了 話 匣 子 後 ， 想 停 也 停

不 下 來 。 這 些 上 了 年 紀 的 人 ， 都 有 很

多故事想跟人分享。」

　　被問到Secret Tour在「免費」

辦 團 期 間 為 何 以 分 享 秘 密 為 「 團 費 」

， S t e p h e n 說 ： 「 到 外 地 旅 遊 會 較 易

與 陌 生 人 分 享 心 事 ， 因 為 可 能 以 後 一

輩 子 都 不 會 再 相 見 。 當 然 ， 現 在 有 了

F a c e b o o k ， 情 況 會 大 有 不 同 。 但 我

覺 得 去 旅 行 應 該 要 放 開 自 己 ， 留 下 一

些 秘 密 ， 而 我 們 不 會 要 求 他 們 直 接 跟

我 們 說 出 來 ， 而 是 給 予 他 不 同 的 媒 介

記 錄 下 來 ， 不 需 要 留 下 名 字 。 現 在 已

累積到一百多個了。」

　 　 向 本 地 旅 居 的 外 國 人 ， 甚 至

本 地 人 本 身 傳 遞 每 個 已 被 遺 忘 了 的

故 事 ， 重 新 揭 示 香 港 的 另 一 面 ， S e -

cret Tour看似是一個很有意義，十

分 偉 大 的 活 動 ， 但 原 來 最 初 他 們 有 這

個 構 思 時 ， 並 沒 有 如 此 崇 高 的 理 想 。

「 其 實 一 開 始 的 時 候 純 粹 是 『 屎 忽

痕 』 ， 並 非 為 了 其 他 人 而 做 的 ， 只 是

不 想 替 人 打 工 ， 想 找 其 他 事 情 做 。 恰

巧 有 一 次 與 朋 友 喝 酒 時 突 然 想 到 這 個

念 頭 ， 於 是 很 快 就 開 了 F a c e b o o k

專 頁 。 整 件 事 其 實 是 個 『 巧 合 』 、 『

突然』，決定辦Secret Tour的簡單

程 度 、 不 負 責 任 程 度 、 衝 動 的 程 度

無 異 於 你 今 天 突 然 想 到 誠 品 書 店 轉 一

圈。」

　 　 要 放 棄 原 先 平 穩 的 廣 告 工 作 ， 毅

然走上身Secret Tour這條從未有前

人 踏 足 過 的 道 路 ， 除 了 要 有 過 人 的 膽

識 ， 家 人 的 支 持 同 樣 不 可 或 缺 。 記 者

問 他 的 父 母 當 初 有 沒 有 質 疑 過 他 的 抉

擇 ， S t e p h e n 坦 然 說 ： 「 當 然 有 ，

讀大學的時候我本身在港大讀Law，

但 後 來 自 己 偷 偷 地 轉 去 中 大 讀 J o u r -

n a l 。 其 中 一 個 原 因 是 自 己 的 家 在 港

大 附 近 ， 所 以 到 中 大 讀 書 就 可 以 住

宿 舍 。 當 時 他 們 已 經 對 此 不 滿 了 一 陣

子 ， 好 端 端 的 卻 去 了 做 記 者 ， 人 工 又

低 。 之 後 我 畢 業 出 來 做 了 廣 告 工 作 ，

傳 統 上 廣 告 這 行 算 是 偏 門 行 業 ， 幸

好 尚 能 賺 到 些 少 錢 。 後 來 辦 S e c r e t

T o u r ， 他 們 說 ： 『 不 是 嗎 ？ 你 跟 我

說 你 當 了 導 遊 ？ 』 『 導 遊 』 這 二 字 雖

不 是 『 負 面 』 ， 但 也 不 太 『 正 面 』 。

他 們 當 然 會 有 質 疑 ， 但 是 興 幸 他 們 最

大的支持是沒有反對。」

不負責任的衝動

不羈的抉擇

　 　 「 沒 有 使 命 感 ， 沒 有 偉 大 理 想 ， 只 是 喜 歡 搞

事 ， 做 些 有 趣 的 事 。 」 S t e p h e n 恃 着 不 甘 於 現

狀 的 態 度 ， 只 忠 於 自 己 的 眼 光 和 意 向 ， 帶 着 簡 單

的 理 念 開 展 不 簡 單 的 旅 行 。 在 筆 者 眼 中 ， 他 有 種

我 行 我 素 的 不 羈 ， 就 如 他 當 年 轉 校 的 決 定 一 般 。

「 我 入 學 那 年 是 零 三 年 ， 當 時 覺 得 鄭 大 班 好 影 響

到 大 家 ， 覺 得 傳 媒 有 種 力 量 ， 是 第 四 權 ， 於 是 就

轉了。」記者好奇地問，若Secret Tour不幸有

事 辦 不 下 去 ， 他 會 否 感 到 可 惜 。 「 當 然 會 ， 就 好

似 蓋 了 三 天 的 積 木 忽 然 被 人 踢 散 了 一 樣 。 不 過 我

沒有想過Secret Tour會做上一輩子。」又說：

「 其 實 這 就 似 一 種 精 神 ， 如 果 人 們 主 動 發 掘 自 己

地 方 的 S e c r e t ， 那 就 根 本 不 用 搞 　 T o u r 。 比 如

說 ， 只 要 搜 尋 一 下 在 將 軍 澳 最 好 吃 的 茶 餐 廳 ， 然

後 放 上 網 讓 人 探 究 ， 有 人 承 傳 便 已 足 夠 。 我 沒 有

想 過 要 發 揚 或 者 宣 傳 香 港 歷 史 文 化 這 樣 偉 大 的 事

情 ， 只 是 覺 得 自 己 在 香 港 長 大 ， 對 此 地 較 熟 識 ，

可 以 讓 自 己 隨 心 做 到 一 些 有 趣 的 事 。 當 我 忽 然 想

到 些 更 有 趣 的 事 情 時 ， 很 可 能 明 天 就 不 繼 續 帶 這

個團。」

　　記者問Stephen，Secret Tour為他帶來了

甚 麼 ， 他 先 開 玩 笑 道 ： 「 不 就 是 為 我 帶 來 了 你 們

嗎 ？ 」 ， 轉 而 篤 定 地 說 ： 「 人 ， 一 生 人 會 結 識 到

很 多 很 多 的 人 。 平 時 我 們 認 識 的 人 可 能 限 於 中 學

大學時的同學，但Secret Tour 讓我結識到很多

來 自 不 同 階 層 的 人 ， 而 每 個 階 層 都 很 特 別 。 」 談

到他與Secret Tour將來有甚麼計劃，Stephen

坦 言 要 見 步 行 步 ， 「 有 些 地 方 想 進 都 進 不 了 去 ，

你 知 道 啦 ， 現 在 香 港 有 很 多 地 方 連 拍 一 張 照 都 不

能 ， 又 怎 麼 願 意 讓 你 進 去 呢 ？ 但 那 些 都 不 重 要 ，

就 算 你 不 讓 我 進 入 ， 我 一 樣 可 以 找 到 更 有 趣 的 地

方。」

　　然而，目前的Secret Tour對Stephen又是怎麼的一回事呢？「第一，如果你能做到一樣你自己很喜歡

的工作，可以坦誠面對它，雖然這是很難得，但在這世代而言是不夠的，因為每個人都在說社會的參與度，現

在 人 們 都 很 關 注 社 會 ， 不 光 是 政 治 ， 而 是 各 方 面 的 發 展 ， 如 環 保 等 。 所 以 第 二 ， 要 是 你 做 的 事 情 對 社 會 有 個

　　筆者看來，八十後的年青人，就該如Stephen一般，像匹桀驁的野馬，不馴服於騎師之下，只為了心中的

夢想，在這個城市密林中馳騁長嘯。

推開木門，踏進一個不足三百呎的空間，

這裡就是à laz i z i ARTventure land 。

在 繁 囂 的 都 市 中 ， 大 人 為 了 生 活 而 拚 搏 ， 孩 童 則 沉 溺 於 富 足 的 物 質 生 活 當 中 。 久 而 久 之 ， 兒 時 對 童 話世 界 的 憧 憬 與 渴 望 漸 漸 泯 滅 ； 「 童 心 未 泯 」 此 四 字 與 香 港 市 民 看 似 風 馬 牛 不 相 及 ， 然 而 ， 在 這 個 缺 乏童真的社會之中，中環的一家書店àlaz i z i ARTventure land卻有如濁世裡的一股清泉，以童話為主的藝術物與收藏品來喚醒人們沉睡了的童心，使人們能從社會的洪流中尋回一點童真、一點回憶。

尋找失去了的童年

　　àlaz i z i ARTventure land 是一家以推廣藝術為主的書店，當中的商品與店舖中的擺 設 都 是 店 主 從 世 界 各 地 不 同 的 地 方 搜 索 而 來 的 「 奇 珍 異 寶 」 。 「 店 主 A l a n 之 所 以 創立 這 間 店 鋪 是 因 為 他 認 為 生 活 就 如 一 場 「 A r t v e n t u r e l a n d 」 ， 藝 術 就 是 在 生 命 中 不 斷探 索 、 在 人 生 的 路 途 上 體 驗 五 花 八 門 的 藝 術 。 這 裡 就 猶 如 一 個 童 話 小 天 地 ， 令 小 孩 子 得到美滿的童年回憶；大人能尋回曾經擁有過的童真和夢想。」工作人員Cary表示。

　 　 基 於 店 主 對 童 話 的 熱 愛 ， à l a z i z i A R T v e n t u r e l a n d 的 營 運 性 質 實 有 別於 一 般 的 書 店 ： 相 比 起 金 錢 上 的 收 益 ，它 更 重 視 向 這 個 對 藝 術 冷 感 的 都 市 ──香 港 宣 傳 童 話 ， 希 望 能 成 為 人 們 心 靈 的綠 洲 ， 對 社 會 作 出 一 分 貢 獻 。 故 此 ， 書店 十 分 歡 迎 任 何 人 到 場 免 費 看 書 及 欣 賞店 中 的 藝 術 品 ， 分 享 沉 醉 在 童 話 與 藝 術品當中的喜悅和童真。　 　 店 內 陳 列 了 多 件 作 品 ， 當 中 由 設 計師Sue製作的《Poor Fami ly》隱涵貼近香港現況的比喻。《Poor Fami ly》包 含 了 多 個 手 工 製 娃 娃 。 這 幾 個 娃 娃 都各 自 配 戴 了 一 兩 件 珍 寶 手 飾 及 其 他 光 鮮衣 物 。 然 而 它 們 的 身 體 是 由 殘 舊 的 破 布製 成 ， 臉 上 也 寫 滿 了 難 堪 的 表 情 。 「 身邊 經 常 有 不 同 朋 友 說 他 們 很 窮 ， 但 他們 一 直 都 穿 著 名 貴 的 服 飾 ！ 他 們 就 是 我創作《Poor Fami ly》的靈感。」Sue在解釋創作《Poor Fami ly》的靈感時 笑 說 。 很 多 人 雖 然 擁 有 富 裕 的 物 質 生活 ， 但 內 心 世 界 卻 十 分 空 虛 ， 實 際 並 不

快樂，就像《Poor Fami ly》的幾個娃娃 ， 外 在 看 似 光 鮮 亮 麗 ， 內 心 卻 孤 寂 無比 。 在 這 個 以 金 錢 來 衡 量 成 就 的 社 會 ，或 者 我 們 應 該 反 思 快 樂 丶 富 有 為 何 物 。在 我 們 追 求 金 錢 名 利 之 際 ， 我 們 到 底 得到什麼，失去什麼？　 　 為 了 令 藝 術 更 能 融 入 於 生 活中，àlaz i z i ARTventure land出版了《 藝 遊 首 爾 》 一 書 ， 由 擁 有 一 半 韓 國 血統 的 少 女 插 畫 師 S u e 與 她 熱 愛 繪 畫 的 好友 M y r a 一 同 介 紹 首 爾 中 不 少 著 名 的 藝術 景 點 。 她 們 以 遊 記 的 形 式 ， 用 自 己 的插 畫 、 照 片 、 文 字 把 遊 覽 首 爾 的 精 彩經 歷 記 錄 下 來 ， 與 讀 者 分 享 這 次 難 忘 的旅 程 ， 同 時 亦 能 多 點 欣 賞 身 邊 的 生 活藝 術 。 為 了 配 合 此 書 的 誕 生 ， à l a z i z i A R T v e n t u r e l a n d 也 在 Y o u t u b e 也 建立 了 其 專 屬 頻 道 ， 當 中 有 由 S u e 主 持 的《 韓 語 教 室 》 ， 以 輕 鬆 活 潑 的 形 式 教 授一 些 韓 文 ， 與 其 推 出 的 旅 遊 書 相 輔 相成。

《 愛 心 童 書 》 募 捐 計 劃

　　今年1月9號至1月25日期間，àlaz i z i ARTventure land推廣了《愛心童書》募捐計劃，與本地兩間慈善機構──書伴我行（香港）基金（Br ing Me A Book）及樂助童心協會（Chi ldren Wel fare Assoc iat ion）攜手合作。這次計劃 是 希 望 把 收 集 到 童 話 書 捐 贈 給 有 需 要 的 小 朋 友 ， 令 他 們 能 有 機 會 體 驗 閱 讀 的 樂

藝術創作

趣 。 除 此 之 外 ， 店 主 亦 舉 辦 了 《 童 心 童 夢 》 工 作 坊 ， 免 費 為 低 收 入 家 庭 的 小 孩 和 捐 贈 書 籍 人 士 的 孩 子 ， 提 供 一 個 聽 故事與學習製作美術作品的機會，溫情四溢。　　　 　 「 這 次 的 活 動 的 反 應 相 當 不 俗 ， 除 了 在 香 港 城 市 大 學 以 及 香 港 城 市 大 學 專 上 學 院 的 攤 位 ， 收 到 很 多 熱 心 同 學 所捐贈的故事書外，在àlaz i z i ARTventure land擺放的捐書箱也順利收集到為數不少的書藉。不少同學更親自致電給我 ， 想 把 他 們 的 童 話 書 捐 贈 給 我 們 ， 真 是 十 分 意 想 不 到 ！ 」 計 劃 負 責 人 之 一 C h e r r y 這 樣 說 。 這 次 的 活 動 再 次 印 證 了香 港 依 然 「 人 間 有 愛 」 。 除 此 之 外 ， 兩 天 的 《 童 心 童 夢 》 工 作 坊 亦 順 利 地 完 滿 結 束 ， 「 參 與 的 孩 子 十 分 享 受 這 個 活 動中 的 每 一 個 過 程 ， 令 我 覺 得 之 前 的 準 備 工 作 就 算 多 辛 苦 ， 在 看 到 他 們 快 樂 的 笑 容 後 ， 一 切 的 付 出 也 值 得 了 ！ 」 à l a z i z i ARTventure land不單是一間宣揚童夢的店舖，更是一間以童孩般善良的心的良心店舖，盡一分綿力以回饋社會。

室 內 有 眾 多 藝 術 作 品 ， 有 些 出 自 藝術 家 手 筆 ， 有 些 是 孩 童 親 手 設 計 ，但 都 價 值 不 菲 。 編 者 很 喜 歡 的 草泥 馬 畫 作 就 叫 價 港 幣 $ 2 3 0 0 以 上 ！

由中韓混血少女插畫師Sue撰寫的《藝遊首爾》已經出版，書本會以遊記形式與讀者分享首爾藝術旅程的精彩點滴；Sue更於Youtube的專屬頻道中，開辦了自己的韓語小教室。

　　老闆Alan做到了很多人想做卻不敢做的事情──為自己的夢想而活。

　　原來在不知不覺間，人的夢想往往因時間流逝而隨之幻滅，於童年時曾大言不慚的說過「要成為影響世界的人」這種思想可能已經從腦海中完全的遺忘得一乾二淨了。但，人生只能活一遍，何不勇於在生命上作出多點嘗試？不管結果如何，至少曾經為自己的夢想而奮鬥過，令生命精彩過，令人生無悔地過。 地址：中環荷里活道57-59號

新政府總部大樓位處於金鐘，這個地點相信對大學生來說不會太陌生，而對於示威人士而言，

這裡更是經常到訪的景點。集會完結後，有些人會選擇到上層的添馬公園草坪稍事休息。不知

大家有否留意，在公園旁有一間以溫暖橙色作基調的咖啡廳。當「門常開」用冷漠的態度拒請

願者於門外的同時，愛心社會企業Ibake ry Ga l le ry Ca fé用寬容博愛的胸襟迎接和聘用殘疾僱

員，為他們提供工作機會。

信念：工作是與社會間的Connec t ion

「原先是在復康中心裡工作，其中很重要的一環是職業復康，我們相信工作對每一個人都有

意義。在復康中心，每一個人都會得到培訓。久而久之，我們看到一些人有工作能力的人，

未必能在公開市場找到工作。即使外面企業有請殘疾僱員，如飲食業，亦比較High Func -

t i on，靠殘疾人士自己找工作比較難。但不容否認的是，他們擁有自己的工作能力。於是，

我們東華三院也開始做生意，宗旨是為殘疾人士創造就業機會，讓不同能力的人都可找到工

作。」負責Ibake r y的東華三院賽馬會復康中心副院長陳佩珊（Flo r ence）把Ibake r y成立的

因由娓娓道來。

Ibake ry的名字有雙重意義，她補充：「『I』有 Inc lus ion的意思，這是我們的主題；工作

對人們來說非常重要，因為每個人都需要和社會Connec t，這也是我們復康服務的主題。我

們希望全店由聘請、錄用、培訓，以至投入服務的整個流程，都能把In c l u s i o n和Con n e c -

t ion精神體現出來。」

「門常開」對他們的意義

I b a k e r y 作 為 社 企 ， 商 業 目 標 和 社 會 責 任 同 樣 重

要 。 在 政 府 總 部 大 樓 開 業 ， 他 們 看 到 的 是 商 機

──這裡位於都會中心，又有添馬公園一面綠油油

的草地，加上鄰近地鐵站，交通便利，相信對吸

引人流有一定幫助。同時，他們希望借助「門常

開」，使在這裡的人「用開放的心態認識我們的

工作，用開放的心情認識我們的同事。」

「度身訂造」的訓練

到目前為止，她們的員工有約一半是殘疾僱員，其中大部分是智障人士，而他們每個人的能力不同，

訓練他們掌握自己的工作成為最大的挑戰。舉一例子，「擺餐對我們來說應該沒什麼難度，但對某

一些同事來說，左、右可以是很難分辨的。其他同事想了一些方法幫他們解決，例如用手機把它拍

下來，甚至把它畫下。這些額外的幫助，外面的企業難以做到。看到能力差異，便要為他們Ta i l o r -

made。如何Tai l o r -made是要花心思的，有些方法用在一個同事身上成功，在另一個同事未必可以。

個別同事的能力差異可能較大，因此，負責訓練的同事需要十分敏銳，瞭解哪些同事可以勝任哪些工

作。至於工作的節奏亦需要調節，不能像外面餐飲工作般急促。」 Flo rence解釋。

Flo rence：最重要是Pass ion

與員工相處，有苦與樂，Florence 最難忘的其中一位殘疾員工──子鍵，初初

入職時，因為洗碗問題，積下太多碗碟洗不完而哭泣。「我們很奇怪聽到有人

在廚房抽泣，後來發現他邊洗碗邊哭，分不到他臉上的到底是水還是眼淚。」

這事成為她深刻的回憶，每次想起都不禁會心微笑。我們請來子鍵為這事作回

應，他稱毫不介意別人重提此事，而他現在洗碗也不會再哭了。他更為我們

即席煮熱朱古力，整個沖泡過程從調粉、加水、加奶，到拉花，都由他親手包

辦。只見他全神貫注在他自己的工作上，儘管有筆者一行人十多隻眼盯著，他

的操作也純熟自如，毫無差池，完成後更展露自信的笑容。殘障人士的工作能

力不言而喻。

對於員工的工作表現，她有不同的評價，她表示即使是擁有同樣程度障礙的員

工，他們的性格和能力也可能相差頗大。但他們和我們具有一樣的人性，也會

「偷懶」。當然，他們也擁有各自的優點。「一些自閉症員工對於自己喜歡

做的事，專注力會特別好。他們建立了Rou t i n e之後，便可以做重複性工作，

並樂在其中。他們的另一優點是穩定性高，這裡的員工大多數是前年開張時僱

Ibake ry 有一句口號，叫「Dif fe ren t ab i l i t i es , one pass ion .」（不同能

力，同一熱愛）。問到Ibake r y為她個人帶來了些甚麼，她這樣回答：「做

人最重要有Pa s s i o n。它可以是來自工作，也可以是其他範疇。我認為有

Pa s s i o n的人比較有趣，當你在做一些自己真正喜歡的事情，並很狂熱地

做，你的Qual i ty o f l i fe會很不同。」從她眼內，筆者看到Ibake ry 為她帶

來的，正是一份可讓她投入的熱愛。

敢逃，你就贏了

逃出香港─尹思騰、施煒恆

敢 ， 才 能 逃 出 新 天 。 香 港 人 平 日 的 娛 樂 不 外 乎 「 行 街 、 睇 戲 、 食飯 、 唱 K 」 。 四 位 不 到 三 十 歲 ， 敢 作 敢 為 的 年 青 人 誓 要 逃 出 這 了無 生 趣 的 公 式 ， 更 想 帶 香 港 人 逃 出 這 苦 悶 的 生 活 。 本 社 專 訪 了 密室逃脫遊戲「逃出香港」（Freeing HK）的其中兩位股東尹思騰（Instant）和施煒恆（Raymond），筆挺的西裝藏不住他們年青 的 活 力 ， 但 偶 爾 也 會 說 兩 句 老 成 的 話 語 ， 細 述 過 去 四 個 月 的 創業經歷。

停學扮返學　四位股東為夢想犧牲

　 　 I n s t a n t 是 一 個 生 意 人 ， 曾 經 從 事 過 營 銷 、顧 問 、 演 講 的 工 作 ， 更 是 個 戀 愛 達 人 ， 曾 出 版有 關 兩 性 關 係 的 書 籍 ， 從 商 經 驗 豐 富 。 而 R a y -m o n d 是 香 港 科 技 大 學 工 商 管 理 系 的 二 年 級 生 ，他 們 在 I n s t a n t 的 一 次 有 關 成 功 學 的 分 享 講 座 中認 識 。 I n s t a n t 回 想 當 時 ， 已 覺 得 R a y m o n d 是個 很 積 極 的 年 輕 人 ， 所 以 在 其 後 的 聚 會 中 經 常找 他 談 天 ， 兩 人 慢 慢 開 始 熟 絡 。 「 平 時 我 和 I n -s t a n t 都 會 像 好 哥 們 兒 一 樣 討 論 謎 題 ， 互 相 考 考大 家 ， 大 家 都 覺 得 這 種 玩 法 有 搞 頭 ， 所 以 開 始 了這 門 生 意 。 」 R a y m o n d 本 來 都 考 慮 過 開 展 專 為大 專 生 而 設 的 團 購 生 意 ， 不 時 和 I n s t a n t 討 論 做生 意 的 事 ， 後 來 兩 人 更 開 始 合 作 ， 創 立 「 逃 出 香港」。

　 　 I n s t a n t 認 為 應 該 找 有 創 意 和 熱 忱 的 年 輕人 一 起 做 生 意 才 過 癮 ， 於 是 湊 齊 了 這 個 四 人 團隊 。 他 們 的 熱 忱 絕 對 可 以 由 他 們 的 犧 牲 和 取 捨中 體 現 出 來 。 I n s t a n t 擱 置 了 其 他 的 生 意 ， 專心 地 處 理 「 逃 出 香 港 」 的 業 務 ； 負 責 技 術 工 程的 M a r c o 辭 去 微 軟 公 司 安 穩 的 工 作 ； 而 R a y -m o n d 更 是 不 理 家 人 反 對 ， 申 請 停 學 一 年 ， 追 逐創 業 夢 。 R a y m o n d 回 想 當 時 家 人 因 擔 心 自 己 時間 不 夠 用 ， 無 法 兼 顧 生 意 和 學 習 ， 以 致 學 業 成 績倒 退 。 R a y m o n d 說 ： 「 明 白 當 時 （ 生 意 ） 還 沒有 成 績 和 回 報 。 」 但 R a y m o n d 繼 續 堅 持 ： 「 我覺 得 自 己 的 路 要 自 己 走 ， 沒 有 堅 持 下 去 的 話 將 來一 定 後 悔 。 我 前 一 段 時 間 申 請 了 停 學 一 年 ， 但 我還 是 會 瞞 著 父 母 假 裝 回 校 ， 當 時 我 父 母 不 知 道 ，直 到 開 始 有 媒 體 報 導 ， 我 才 敢 跟 父 母 說 （ 停 學的 事 ） 。 」 至 於 另 一 位 負 責 設 計 的 股 東 W 則 只 是大 學 一 年 級 ， 她 選 擇 兼 職 處 理 「 逃 出 香 港 」 的 工作。

為何要逃？

　　一問到「逃出香港」的意念從何而來，Instant和Raymond都異口同聲抱怨香港人生活苦悶，娛樂活動不多。「我在科大讀書，科大有個別名，Univers i ty of S t ress and Tens ion。科 大 不 像 你 們 C i t y ， 附 近 有 個 商 場 ， 科 大 在 一 座 山 上 ， 連 叫 個 外 賣 都 難 ， 所 以 我 覺 得 沒 什 麼 娛樂。」Raymond繼續指出一開始純粹覺得這門生意好玩，沒想過賺錢。Instant也認為香港應該 擁 有 本 土 的 娛 樂 ， 所 以 「 逃 出 香 港 」 會 將 香 港 文 化 融 入 其 中 ， 身 邊 的 事 物 都 可 成 為 一 些 遊 戲和謎題。

要創業 先要有滿盤皆輸的準備

　 　 從 籌 備 至 今 的 四 個 月 期 間 ， 兩 位 都 沒 想 過 放 棄 。 「 其 實 期 間 沒 有 遇 到 什 麼 大 風 浪 ， 因 為 我 以 前 撞 過板 。 我 有 以 前 做 生 意 的 經 驗 ， 知 道 有 什 麼 要 留 意 ， 所 以 這 次 順 利 很 多 。 」 I n s t a n t 從 商 經 驗 豐 富 ， 而 且人 脈 廣 ， 提 供 了 不 少 意 見 和 支 援 。 不 過 有 時 候 難 免 發 生 一 些 小 問 題 ， 如 客 人 在 訂 位 上 出 問 題 或 員 工 做 事馬 虎 不 俐 落 。 I n s t a n t 指 會 透 過 合 作 解 決 問 題 ， 所 以 股 東 間 甚 少 有 爭 吵 。 「 和 人 合 作 要 清 楚 每 個 人 的 長處和特點，崗位要按照能力明確劃分，如果大家做同樣的事，爭執會慢慢變多。」

　　這兩位年青人如此成功，Instant和Raymond都鼓勵年青人勇敢地闖。Raymond當時亦憑勇氣去冒 險 一 試 ： 「 我 覺 得 自 己 最 多 也 就 是 輸 掉 整 副 身 家 財 產 ， 我 有 時 間 重 頭 來 過 。 年 青 人 創 業 最 重 要 是 有 決心 ， 相 信 自 己 的 眼 光 ， 因 為 途 中 一 定 有 很 多 人 質 疑 你 。 還 要 不 怕 輸 ， 要 有 全 盤 皆 輸 的 心 理 準 備 ， 接 受 了才 去 做 。 」 I n s t a n t 建 議 創 業 第 一 步 要 多 留 意 身 邊 事 物 ， 指 ： 「 創 業 即 創 造 價 值 。 」 能 捉 緊 他 人 需 要 ，自 然 就 有 一 個 商 機 。 同 時 ， 人 際 網 絡 也 十 分 重 要 ， 僅 籌 備 了 三 個 月 的 「 逃 出 香 港 」 ， 首 月 就 達 至 收 支 平衡，期間沒大肆宣傳，全靠身邊的朋友支持，繼而造就口裨。

　 　 R a y m o n d 未 完 成 學 業 就 自 立 門 戶 做 生 意 ， 他 說 父 母 有 要 求 他 作 出 承 諾 ： 一 定 會 完 成 學 位 。 「 出來 工 作 ， 發 覺 學 歷 並 不 是 那 麼 重 要 ， 我 自 己 聘 請 員 工 也 不 是 看 學 歷 ， 而 是 看 他 能 不 能 做 到 我 要 求 的 事 。不 過 同 樣 ， 我 也 明 白 為 什 麼 要 有 學 歷 這 回 事 ， 因 為 人 實 在 太 多 了 ， 所 以 要 訂 一 個 門 檻 。 」 對 於 能 否 完成 學 業 ， R a y m o n d 並 不 能 作 保 證 ： 「 將 來 的 事 很 難 說 ， 我 都 想 盡 量 讀 完 這 個 學 位 ， 但 公 司 發 展 得 比 較快……」「逃出香港」會在銅鑼灣開分店，也正籌備擴展到澳門及海外。

　 　 開 設 「 逃 出 香 港 」 用 了 六 位 數 字 的 資 金 ， 四 位 股 東 都 可 算 是 白 手 興 家 ， R a y m o n d 指 I n s t a n t 和M a r c o 來 來 有 工 作 ， 積 蓄 比 較 多 ， 付 出 會 相 對 較 多 ； 自 己 則 用 自 小 打 工 賺 來 的 錢 ， 可 謂 賭 上 了 全 副 身家 。 父 母 皆 為 生 意 人 的 R a y m o n d 在 家 庭 經 濟 上 沒 什 麼 負 擔 ， 加 上 從 小 喜 歡 到 處 打 工 ， 體 驗 人 生 。 「 我在Year1的時候做過兼職的財務顧問，還是有一筆積蓄的。」

　 　 「 逃 出 香 港 」 這 個 密 室 逃 脫 遊 戲 掀 起 城 中 熱 話 ， 究 竟 是 曇 花 一 現 還 是 另 一 香 港 傳 奇 ， 仍 有 待 他 們 的創意和努力，但他們創業的事跡定會是一個發人深省的故事。

編按：　　「逃出香港」的生意的確忙個不停，訪問途中時不時傳來電話聲，辦公室外一批批客人進出不斷。而營運這門生意的小老闆卻是眼前跟我年紀相約的小伙子，CEO Raymond散發著年青活力，訪問途中會「講開又講」，說些趣事。「我籌辦澳門分店時做過Research，你知不知道為什麼澳門叫Macau？」我們都搖搖頭，他興奮地解釋：「啲鬼佬以前剛剛來到澳門就自然會問『呢度係咩地方』，咁當地人聽唔明就答『乜鳩呀』，所以澳門就叫Ma-cau。」我們哄堂大笑，一臉難以致信，他繼續說：「真架！以前袁祟煥夠有個打仗口號係『掉哪媽，頂硬上』啦！」這位CEO完全沒有距離感，跟一般年青人無異，只是比別人敢一點，所以有了今天的成就。

Vegetarianism, being, partly ascribed to health issues concerning

the society in an increasingly intensive manner, is drawing more

attention in this decade where some people merely take into consider-

ation the ethical value of saving creatures. The Green Living Education

Foundation (GLEF), previously named the Hong Kong Vegetarian So-

ciety, however, possesses an even more complicated interpretation and

is very passionate in advocating the practice.

Catherine Hing Ling HUNG, who chairs the GLEF, is a 73rd generation

descendant of Confucius. ‘We always go far beyond simply the process

of vegetarianism, and we provide preparation services,’ she said, ‘Yes,

we need preparation.’ The GLEF, a non-profit organization, believes

that vegetarianism expresses affection towards creatures, and also pro-

vides everyone time to refresh themselves and learn fundamental life

values, a temporary separation from the everyday rush of commercial

activities. ‘Club O’ is a programme by the GLEF, which was initiated

to promote this message.

The elementary preparation is to establish a spiritual connection with

the nature. The concept of delivering care to creatures in vegetarian-

ism implies, according to Catherine’s speech, the importance of staying

close to the green atmosphere, in which one starts to feel the soul of

nature and learns to treasure the world. Releasing oneself from the

city’s hustle and bustle and getting into the unfrequented environment

are two of the principal objectives of different activities from Club O,

such as hiking and meditation.

There is an organic food store run by Club O, called the Club O

Choice, next to the GLEF office. It provides mainly raw organic

food, at a cheaper price than that in the market seemingly very wel-

coming to the middle class. As organic farming is less harmful to the

soil, and provides healthier products to humans, GLEF prefer organic

food and have opened the food store, in a bid to take the second step

of preparation. ‘Why not prepare cheaper healthy food for those vege-

tarians who come and wish to have a more spiritual life?’ asked Teresa

YU Lai Ling, the vice-chairperson. ‘When we just started the store,

we really had to go to books for knowledge of running a shop,’ she

continued, ‘we have learnt the acknowledgement system and we really

try every food and condiment purchased.’ Moreover, they encourage

local agricultural development, as they see it as an essential element

of structuring a healthy society, so purchasing local organic produce

has been on their top priority. The local supply, however, falls short

of demands and lacks varieties. Therefore, despite their attempt to

support the local industry, overseas produce still remains irreplace-

able on shelves.

The routine vegetarian dinner at GLEF is scheduled for every Thurs-

day and Saturday evening. Vegetarians from all walks of life attend

the dinner. Occasionally a spiritual master will be there presenting

sacred ideas relevant to green issues. In that evening, they retrieve

old wisdom, perform old manners and turn back into old pace of sim-

ply eating. When they eat, they do it literally, in perfect silence, with

a slow rhythm and just eat, practicing an old Chinese proverb: ‘Eat

with no words.’ Catherine suggested slow and just eating leads one

to get a delicate touch with food, directs one to sense the nature and

soul of food in detail and allows one a quiet moment to think about

themselves.

Basically, the GLEF welcomes everyone, including non-members.

They may participate in any activities for free, such as the vegetarian

dinner, but some functions are charged on a minimum basis to cover

part of the costs. However, expenses of activities, rent for offices,

function rooms and wage for a few workers pose a financial challenge

to them. They even provide free services, such as teaching people to

cook organic produce, offering courses such as meditation and cre-

ative disposal of leftovers, and holding talks at school. Fortunately,

donations pop out at times, from different parties and even the anon-

ymous. ‘More importantly, we really have plenty of voluntary profes-

sionals in various disciplines who are willing to assist the operation

and services of the GLEF. A doctor, for instance, who supports the

promotion of vegetarianism, frequently provide free medical consul-

tation,’ Teresa mentioned, ‘That we are financially able to stay till

today is simply a result of help by different people.’

They have a goal on furthering their one-stop vegetarian service from

elementary spiritual preparation, food buying, cooking to actual eat-

ing, by adding agricultural activities to the beginning of the series.

They wish, though not a concrete plan yet, to run a farmland in the

territory, so as to support local farming. They added, ‘The plan is still

very far, but there is one thing a lot more important. That’s everyday

passion and small steps. We don’t have an ambitious 10-year plan. We

don’t have an imposing blueprint. But what we have is our passion

and the will to do things in detail. This elaborate thing can touch

people, and staying true and enthusiastic about life is always the key

to living a meaningful life.’

‘Not to change others, but you yourself.’ Catherine’s motto has made

her tough throughout her long way at the GLEF, even at moments

of hesitations. Vegetarianism is considered by them not only as an

act of denying oneself meats, but, considered more in a comprehen-

sive understanding, as a thorough twist in attitudes towards life. As

a mark of picking up morality and a declaration of promoting animal

care, vegetarianism at the GLEF describes a new interpretation of

life meaning.

Ecol s尤注重環保細節和設計，售賣的產品用的是天然的、可生物降解的、循環再造的物料。Ecols亦留意廠家的生產過程是否符合環保的準則，例如，LED燈的生產商是用水力發電的，減少生產過程對環境的影響。除了環保產品的用料和生產過程外，設計及創意也很重要。因為外表吸引與否除了會影響銷售外，亦決定了產品的普及程度。「型格」的產品較易市面流

行，從而喚起大眾對環保產品的關注，提高他們的環保意識。

Ecols大部分產品來自世界各地，包括美國，歐洲，泰國。例如，店內的其中一張椅子是由一位比利時設計師設計，材料則名為「鳳眼籃」，是一種源自泰國的水生植物。

綠色起源

Ecols老闆Phoebe一開始做LED燈，但發現LED燈價錢太高，零售商不會接受。於是她夫婦倆開始自己創業，發現原來綠色產品不限於LED 燈，還有很多日常家居用品。

產 品 的 外 觀 和 生 產 過 程 外 ， 亦

注重其耐用性。她解釋，如果一

件環保產品的生命週期較同類產

品 短 暫 ， 那 麼 它 其 實 也 稱 不 上

環保，因為要涉及更高的平均成

本。

另 外 ， 產 品 種 類 多 元 化 亦 是

Ecols的賣點之一。有別於國外

一些品牌公司，它們多集中銷售

自家品牌產品，種類較少。Viv-

ian表示，Ecols老闆會從各地搜

羅環保產品，回港銷售。Ecols

成了各地環保產品的集中地。此

外，Ecols注重本地創作，故一

直跟本地環保產品設計師建立良

好關係。她認為本地創作及製造

是長遠的可持續方式。

Vivian又提到，由於大部分的產

品是人手加工，每件產品的藝術

成分和獨特性較一般大眾化商品

為高，能夠較吸引一些注重美感

的客人。

綠色趨勢

在香港，愈來愈多本土設計師將

環保融入產品和室內設計裏，情

況令人鼓舞。剛開業時，本地設

計不足Ecols產品的5%，現時已

上 升 至 1 5 % - 2 0 % ， 其 中 有 大 部

分為學生作品。

顧客方面，亞洲地區（除日本、

台灣）的消費者普遍對環保產品

比較陌生，未必會在購買時考慮

環保因素。主要原因是如政府宣

傳不足，未有提倡綠色消費 。

Ecols 與客人

Ecols回收玻璃樽，利用熱力將

其 做 成 圖 中 的 擺 設 。 有 一 天 ，

一 位 客 人 要 十 個 這 樣 的 玻 璃

樽，Ecols職員大感驚訝，因為

平時的客人只要一、兩個而已。

原來那位客人竟然想到用這擺設

來放壽司。

Ecols不單是一間店鋪，還肩負

教育大眾的責任。Ecols以前在

中環營業，接觸的多為遊客；後

來搬到尖沙咀The One，讓更多

普羅大眾認識到環保是可以「有

型」和具創意的。Escols的客人

有別於一般客人，他們喜歡聽每

件產品背後的故事和意義。

V i v i a n 表 示 ， 不 時 會 遇 上 一 些

顧客不瞭解環保產品價錢較高的

原因。一些客人會覺得用垃圾造

的產品不值這些價錢，有些更認

為他們自己也製作到，根本不用

買。對此，Vivian並不會無奈，

反而覺得若客人逛過Ecols後，

真 的 會 動 手 用 廢 物 製 作 一 些 用

品，那已經很足夠。因為公司的

產品能夠成功感染客人，實踐綠

色生活。

E c o l s 引 入 外 國 綠 色 設 計 品 牌

的 產 品 ， 並 於 店 舖 零 售 。 此

外，Ecols致力跟本地設計師合

作，為一些新晉設計師或設計系

的 學 生 提 供 指 導 及 市 場 銷 售 支

援，如提供銷售平台、產品測試

及改良等。

未來挑戰和機遇

Vivian坦言，環保意識、綠色消費的概念在香港仍未普及。大部分消費者未必願意花費在環保產品上。她建議市民可從日常生活開始，實踐綠色生活，如多用環保產品Vivi-an期望日後有愈來愈多的本地創新環保設計。她認為大部分消費者都會被新穎的設計所吸引，因此不斷的創新是保留甚至擴闊客源的重要元素。

E c o l s 打 算 跟 設 計 師 合 作 ， 於 年 中推出一系列新產品。另外，兩者亦正籌備一個公開的產品設計比賽，主題是環保設計。Vivian透露比賽將於暑假進行，喜歡設計並深熱環保的同學要密切留意。

1. 舊物如黑膠唱片漸漸被淘汰，但ECOLS令它們起死回生，變成掛牆鐘，既環保又能使舊物以另外的形式重現大家眼前。

2. 市場部主任Vivian手中的Taxi bag由本地設計師和已退休裁縫製作。原料乃棄置的的士座椅套，縫線的靈感則來自的士線的三種顏色，富本地文化特色。
