OUR Call To missions

Happy Holidays, Family and Friends,To some of you this letter may come as a surprise and to others it may make perfect sense. Our desire to serve God andmeet the physical and spiritual needs of the poor have led our family to an exciting opportunity and a very new direction.Over the last six months we have received afrmation of God calling us to the mission eld in Kampong Cham, Cambodia.

Why are you receiving this letter?We have chosen to send these letters to you because you haveimpacted our lives in some way and we deeply desire or you

to be a part o this journey with us. We invite you to share ourexperiences and stay connected with the Barson amily as weplan, move, and land in our new destination in 2013.

Because there is too much inormation to share with you injust one letter, we will be sending out three more letters inthe next ew months to tell you specifcally why we are goingto Cambodia and what we will be doing there. We will alsoinorm you about World eam, our sending agency and howyou can partner with us on this journey.

Once we were chosen by our churchs board o elders weunderwent a rugged week-long missionary assessment withWorld eam, our missionary organization. We passed theassessment and ater talking with several current missionarieson the feld in Cambodia, we were invited to join the feldin Kampong Cham! We have lots to do to prepare ourselvesor the feld including reading several books, taking an onlineBible course through World eam, and participating in six

weeks o intercultural training. Our ormal language studywill begin once we arrive in Cambodia, but we have alreadybegun to learn conversational Khmer.

Getting Ready
