Fifteen years ago, a kid stood in front of the Taj Mahal, awestruck. The monument stood there, tall and proud, its marble glistening in the sun. In that moment, he became conscious of scale, proportion, articulation and beauty, and has pursued them ever since.

Hello! I am Tejas Chavan, a Year 4 Architecture student from the National University of Singapore (NUS). I am passionate and hard-working, and I always strive to create the best in design. This portfolio showcases my works in 3D modelling and parametric design.

100 E 53RD STHotel Design | CVUT | 20153D model of twin hotels in Manhattan. Grasshopper was used to automate the area and floor (no. of ) calculations, to speed up the design process. The code below is fed with plot boundary and floorplate (shapes of typical base and tower floors) parameters and returns skyscraper geometries as shown above, that comply with New York area and shape regulations.

SEVILLE PARASOLGrasshopper Module | CVUT | 2015The waffle shaped parasol at Seville recreated in Rhinoceros using Grasshopper. Six control points define where the parasol touches the ground and also act as attractor points in Grasshopper script. Data trees and lists from individual attractor points are manipulated and combined to create a sinuous and undulating parasol shape.

OBSERVATION DECKDonkey Workshop | CVUT | 2016Viewing platform design developed during a 2-day workshop for Donkey plug-in for Grasshopper at CVUT, Prague. The Donkey plug-in allowed for comparative structural analysis of the platform, which is to be installed atop a now obsolete chimney. The concept of the deck involved a simple square shaped floating platform supported by cables. The staircase to the deck wrapped around the chimney, smoothly transforming from a circular shape to a square one as it rose up to the deck. The Donkey plug-in primarily took in line geometries as parameters (beams) and produced qualitative structural analysis as output. Multiple combinations & iterations of the deck were fed into Donkey to find the best solution.

BIOMIMETIC DEPARTMENTX-LAB Studio | CVUT | 2016X-LAB Studio at CVUT explores the potential of experimental and futuristic architecture, this time focusing on biomimetic design. This design for a biomimetic department explores a possibility of bone-like truss structure for the building. The trusses and columns for this building were developed using the T-Splines plug-in for Rhinoceros.

WEAVEBIRD2015Personal project that explores sinuous form development using Voronoi 3D function and Weavebird plug-in for Grasshopper. Voronoi cells are selectively chosen based on their proximity to a curve. The resulting mesh is further processed using Weavebird, which adds subdivision, porosity and smoothness.
