2:13-17

13 主所爱的弟兄们哪，我们本该常为你们感谢神；因为他从起初拣选了你们，叫你们因信真道，又被圣灵感动，成为圣洁，能以得救。 But we must always give thanks to God for you,

brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because God chose you

as the first fruits for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit

and through belief in the truth.

14 神借我们所传的福音召你们到这地步，好得着我们主耶稣基督的荣光。For this purpose he called you through our proclamation of the

good news, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus

Christ.

自第一封信后，当时门徒受到的冲击 :Since the 1st letter, the disciples were facing a lot of challenges:

v1:4,7

the persecutions and trials from locals and officials

v2:2

false prophecy used Paul’s name to claim the Lord has come already

v3:11some are idle, not busy, but are busybodies
