Artwork inspired by the tremendously popular manga and anime, Doraemon, will be on display. Yurakucho is an area in Tokyo where many large theaters, such as the Imperial Theatre, Tokyo Takarazuka Theater, and Nissay

Theatre, can be found. It also has many movie the-atres. The adjacent district of Ginza is known for its many department stores and high-class brand-name shops. To the east of Ginza, there are two theaters, Kabukiza Theatre and Shinbashi Enbujo (theater), both of which attract many theatergoers and tourists. Alternative Theatre specializes in catering to non-Japanese tourists. Various strategies have been devised so that those who do not speak Japanese can understand what’s going on. For instance, at Japanese

theaters, announcements such as “Please turn off your cellphone” and “Guide lights will switch on in case of emergency” are made, but at this theater this informa-tion is communicated before the show through mime.オルタナティブシアターの特

The plays that are performed have very little dia-logue and the plot can be understood via gestures. The performances employ aerial stunts, dance, smoke and light, making them enjoyable to watch.
