H782 ProcessMultimeter Operation guidance

4. Operation guidance

4.1 Power charging

Considering the actual condition of field use, AC and DC power sources are both available to this instrument. There are a pack of rechargeable batteries inside this instrument. In condition there is 220V AC current, the attached charger can be used to supply operating source to the instrument (charging the battery at the same time). When the voltage of the battery pack is lower than 4.4V, the symbol (undervoltage) appears. The instrument shall be charged with 220V AC current.

Page 23: H782 ProcessMultimeter Instruction - AideTek · H782 ProcessMultimeter (hereafter, also referred to as ―the ... multimeter function, which makes it an ideal option for field meterman,

Generally, it shall power off the instrument before charging, and

then use the attached charger to charge the battery, which shall

follow below steps:

1) Plug the charger into 220V AC socket, then the green Indicator

light will be on.

2) Use the connecting cable to connect the charger to the Charge

terminal on the top of the instrument, then the indicator light

will be converted from green to red, which indicates that the

instrument in charging.

3) When the indicator light converted from red to green, it

indicates an end to thi charging. The charging shall last for4~6

hours.

The battery shall be full charged in each charging, otherwise its service life may be influenced. Generally, a full charged battery can work for more than 24 hours, and under the condition with maximum output current 20mA, it may deliver 8 hours of continuous service. If the work time of the instrument is significantly reduced, it shall take a replacement of the battery into account.

H782 ProcessMultimeter Operation guidance

4.2 Auto power off

1) If there is no any operation (except pressing SHIFT) within 15 minutes after power on, the output display area and measurement

Page 24: H782 ProcessMultimeter Instruction - AideTek · H782 ProcessMultimeter (hereafter, also referred to as ―the ... multimeter function, which makes it an ideal option for field meterman,

display area of the instrument will turn to sleeping state through power off to save electricity energy.

2) After power off, if turn the rotary switch or press any one of ▼/HOLD, ▼/REL and FUNC key, the measurement display area restores to normal operation. If in output state, pressing FUNC key may make the output display area restore to normal operation.

3) If press and hold FUNC key to power on, the auto power off function of measurement display area will be cancelled.

4.3 Backlight

1) If it is difficult to read figures due to poor light condition in measuring, RANGE key may be long pressed for over 2s to turn on the backlight.

2) Long press the RANGE over 2s again may turn off the backlight.

3) After the backlight is on, if RANGE is not long pressed for over 2s, it will be auto turned off 10s later.

Note:

1) The illuminant of backlight is LED with high operating current. Though this instrument has timing circuit (the set interval is about 10s, i.e., the backlight will be auto turned off 10s later after turned it on), but frequent use of the backlight will reduce the life of battery, it shall use the backlight as less as possible, unless necessary.

2) The brightness of the backlight will decline along with the reduced voltage of battery pack.

H782 ProcessMultimeter Operation guidance

4.4 Reading hold

Page 25: H782 ProcessMultimeter Instruction - AideTek · H782 ProcessMultimeter (hereafter, also referred to as ―the ... multimeter function, which makes it an ideal option for field meterman,

1)If reading hold is required in measuring, it may press ▼/HOLD, then the buzzer makes a sound, the value displayed in the measurement display area is locked.

2)Press ▼ again, then the buzzer makes a sound, the reading hold state is removed.

4.5 Function switch

1)In voltage, current range, press FUNC, the instrument will be switched between AC and DC.

2) In diode and break-and-make range, press FUNC, the instrument will be switched between the two ranges.

4.6 Relative measurement switch

1)When measuring, press ▼/REL, then the instrument go to relative measurement state with initial reading returned to zero.

2) In relative measurement state, if current displayed value is stored in the memory as the reference value, in future measurement, the displayed value will be the difference value results from subtracting the reference value from the input value. i.e., ▼/REL(current reading)= input value – reference value.

3) After pressing ▼/REL, the instrument enters into manual range mode.

4) In REL measurement state, by pressing this key again, the relative measurement (△) function is removed.

5) In reading hold state, by pressing this key, the reading hold is cancelled, and the actual measured valued is stored in the memory as the reference value, in future measurement, the displayed value will be the difference value results from subtracting the reference value from the input value.

6) Press FUNC key or turncap switch both lead to cancel of REL measurement mode to return to normal measurement state (the symbol △ on the screen disappears).

Page 26: H782 ProcessMultimeter Instruction - AideTek · H782 ProcessMultimeter (hereafter, also referred to as ―the ... multimeter function, which makes it an ideal option for field meterman,

H782 ProcessMultimeter Operation guidance

7) OL triggering: in REL mode, when the input value higher than the allowable value within this range, it shows OL, press this key again, the relative value measurement function cancels; when OL is showing on the screen, REL mode is not accessible.

4.7 Measurement preparation

1) Turn the rotary switch, switch on the power. If the battery voltage is low (≤4.4V approximately), the display shows the symbol

,which indicates that the battery pack needs to be charged.

2) The symbol nearby the input wire indicates the input voltage or current shall not be higher than indicated value, in order to protect the internal line from damage.

3) Turn the rotary switch to required measuring function and range.

4) When connecting wires, the common test wire shall be connected first, then the live test wire. And when removing wires ,the live test wire shall be removed first.

5) Never measure high voltage or current when the rotary switch is

at ―Ω‖ scale.

And never carry out misoperation of voltage measuring when the

rotary switch is at ―mA‖ or ―μA‖ scale, inorder to avoid damage to

the instrument.

6) Do not connect the test lead to measured signal when turning the

rotary switch.
