Firstly, many thanks to all those who took the time and
trouble to complete and return our reader survey. It has been
really interesting to fnd out more about the type o
properties you are looking or, where in the world you avour
and what you would like to see eatured in the magazine.
Ive been editor o International Homes or six years now and I still get a
tremendous buzz rom hearing your eedback. The most gratiying thing has to
be when we receive calls rom airports all over the world ater people have read
the magazine during their fight and ound a property they would like to know
more about. Its also rewarding or our team to get response rom estate agentsand developers who have sold their properties due to our coverage. The uture
is bright or the property industry and there is nothing we like more than being
able to present the nest properties in the best possible way to the most
discerning o audiences.
Highlights o this issue include a special eature celebrating 16 years o the
International Property Awards. I must admit that, despite having been a judge or
some time, I hadnt ully appreciated how the idea or them came about or all the
dierent stages that have shaped them into the world-renowned awards that they
are today. It makes you wonder what urther heights the International Property
Awards and their winners will reach over the next 16 years.
We also explore the delights o owning a property in one o the less obvious
destinations Lebanon. Now a stable Middle Eastern country, its government is
showing a huge commitment to rebuilding the economy and this is refected in
Lebanons growing investment property market. It also has much to oer with a
combination o plenty o sunshine, abulous beaches and snow-capped mountains
providing year round attractions.
Last but not least, you will nd we have selected the most stunning collection o
waterront properties around the world to whet your appetite or living in the lap
o luxury!

Most of us strive to find our own little
oasis of peace and quiet away from the
pressures of modern life. We hope to find a
special place where we can feel totally at ease
and take time out to recharge our batteries
whenever we feel the need. If this strikes a
chord with you then this fabulous French
retreat in Gascony named Therou could fit
the bill perfectly.
The original house at Therou was built in
the early 1800s; a maison bourgeois, it came
complete with a Napoleon III park which
served as a garden. The house maintained its
status as a leading domain for vines lying in
both the Madiran and St Mont regions
for many years but also extended to other
activities such as the stabling of racehorses.
Even to this day, the property is individually
marked on most good road maps, showing theimportance it has been given over the years.
Disaster struck in 1950 or thereabouts
when the original house caught fire and the
property was left deserted for many years. At
long last someone realised the immense
potential the house and grounds held and it
was purchased by SCI Chuchoter (a single
purpose company) in 1999. This meant that
for the first time in 50 years the borders of
Therou began to be re-opened and the
painstaking restoration and rebuilding
programme started to take shape. Planning
permission was granted in 2000 to rebuild
384m of the original house, collapsed barns
were demolished and strengthening work
was conducted to the surviving 200m barn.
Rising from the ashesThe site was a hive of activity between 2001
and 2004 as construction of the new house
took place with over 10 different contractors
being employed to ensure that the desired
result was achieved. The work was finallycompleted at the end of April 2004 and all the
appropriate guarantees run from that date.
No expense has been spared in terms of
either the craftsmanship or quality of the
materials that were used in the construction.
Special features include: copper gutters and
drain pipes, oak floors and ceilings, exotic
wood balconies, apparent cross-shaved oak
beams, Spanish antique and modern doors and
cabinets, double glazing with hinged wooden
framing, ethernet cabling (CAT 5), speaker
cables in every room, an AGA cooker,
Andalusian tiled floors and 1000 litres of hot
water through three separate systems.
Now an impressive seven-bedroom, six
bathroom property with 650m of living space,
it not only signifies the height of luxury but
also elegance. Hidden underground to keep
cool in Gasconys glorious climate, there is
even a larder, wine cellar, technical room and
cinema. All of this stands in five acres of oak
woodland with the same amount of acreage
available again should the new owner wish itto be included at an additional cost.
The swimming pool was the final feature to
be completed only last year and, as you can
appreciate from the picture, it forms a
fabulous focus for the grounds. The pool is
twice the size of a normal one due to the
extra waterway running from it, adding to both
its beauty and the fun that can be enjoyed by
those using it. Looking from the house to
the north-west, the pool house has been
designed as a folly, reflecting the shape of the
house, with the swimming pool in turn
reflecting the shape of the folly.
So where is this haven of tranquillity you
may ask? Well, despite being in the midst of
vineyard country, the nearest airport is at Pau
which is only 35 minutes away from the
property. It currently operates seven flights
daily to Paris as well as direct flights to
London and Amsterdam. Bordeaux can be
reached in an hour and 20 minutes, add
another 20 minutes and you can be in
Toulouse and Biarritz!

Salcombe is widely acknowledged as being
one of the most beautiful places in England
and a highly sought after location for keen
yachtsmen and sailing aficionados. Ideally
located at the mouth of the Salcombe-
Kingsbridge Estuary, its also within the
South Devon Area of Outstanding Beauty
a status the area is set to preserve as most
of the surrounding land belongs to and is
protected by the National Trust.
A rare opportunity has just arisen to own
a marine estate complete with its own
Napoleonic fort and breathtaking estuary
views. The Old Vinery, is being sold as three
plots or as a whole, with planning permission
to create a five-bedroom mansion, a three-
bedroom guest cottage, a studio in the
Napoleonic fort and to restore and expand the
boat house and jetty. The foreshore also includes two swinging
moorings and one running mooring, adding
even greater value to the property. Yet perhaps
of greater interest still, is the private beach and
foreshore, one of very few stretches in private
hands today. With expansive low water acreage,
it might even be possible to land a helicopter
at low tide!
Steeped in historyAs it stands, the Old Vinery was designed by
Elizabeth Jennings, a graduate of the Royal
Academy. It was built in the 1960s on the
grounds of her old family home, Woodcot
part of the original Woodcot Estate bought
in 1906 by Andrew McIlwraith, grandfather to
Ms Jennings and one of Salcombes most
illustrious benefactors. The expansive five-
bedroom house is located within the original
walled gardens and was designed to have full
180 degree views of the estuary from Bolt Head
to South Pool Creek and towards the Salcombe
Bar which inspired Lord Tennysons poemCrossing the Bar.
The Old Vinery is steeped in history, as
the remnants of a Napoleonic fort on the
frontage show. The fort, which probably held
a garrison of several men, was built at a
time when the threat of invasion by the
French was a real danger. Another one, Fort
Charles, further down the estuary, famously
withstood five months of siege from enemies
closer to home, when Salcombe was the
last place in England to hold out against
Cromwells Roundheads.
What makes the Old Vinery really stand out
is the wonderful opportunity it creates to build
Salcombes first marine estate in one of the
towns most prized and exclusive locations.
Indeed, the Old Vinery is being sold with full
planning consent to create an important new
house in excess of 6,000 square feet over
twice the size of the existing one.
The plans have been meticulously drawn up
to take full advantage of the location and views
of this exceptional plot and create a state-of-the-art, modern and luxurious property,
perfect as a family home but with fantastic
entertaining space. The house will be on two
levels, in keeping with its surroundings. The

The mere mention of the name Cowes
summons up mental images of a world-
renowned sailing destination with numerous
yacht clubs, restaurants and bars all adding
to its vibrant social scene. The Isle of Wight
as a whole has wonderful areas of unspoilt
countryside, much of which is designated asan Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty,
as well as stretches of Heritage Coast
including hidden coves and sandy beaches.
All of these elements combine to offer a wide
range of land and water based pursuits.
Our featured property, Oakhill, is within the
Conservation Area of Cowes, just 200m from
the sea front as the crow flies and a short walk
from the Royal Yacht Squadron and other
principal yacht clubs. Being high up, it has
enviable views of The Solent and is in a prime
position for watching both yacht racing and
liners en route to and from Southampton.
If sailing isnt your sport, then nearby
Northwood Park provides tennis courts and
a putting green and theres a nine-hole golf
course close by. In addition the island has a
wealth of attractions ranging from historic
houses and castles to hosting some of the
countries leading music festivals. All the
facilities Cowes has to offer are within easy
walking distance, as are the fast and frequent
passenger ferry services to Southampton thattake only about 20 minutes to cross.
The IoW has a good range of facilities
including many major stores and is served by
three separate car ferry routes (including
East Cowes to Southampton) and beyond
the Red-Jet running from Cowes there are
additional high speed passenger services from
Ryde to Portsmouth and to Southsea, all of
which provide good access to the mainland
train and motorway network as well as nearby
Southampton Airport. All these factors,
together with an excellent number of sunshine
hours, make the island a very popular location
for both permanent and second homes.
Oakhill was built in the early 19th century
in the style of well-known local architect,
John Nash. The house was sympathetically
renovated by the current owners around 2001
and retains many of its original features
including period fireplaces, ornate skirting and
cornices and good ceiling heights, all typical
of the period. Little details like the original
range in the basement, a skylight showing thedate 1870 and a workers signature in the
lead work keep the sense of history about
the property.
The principal rooms have deep windows
taking in sea views and there are balconies to
both the dining room and main bedroom. As
well as the flexible accommodation there is a
detached studio/office plus a garage/store
thats in need of repair. The gardens include an
extensive terrace, sloping lawns with colourful
borders and trees forming the perfect setting
overlooking the water for entertaining.
Historic and royal connectionsThe house has such a prominent location that
it has been illustrated in several historic
prints by the artist J Brannon but this propertys
claim to fame doesnt end there. Its believed
that Queen Victorias carriage was frequently
parked in the stable block when she was
visiting the Royal Yacht Squadron. Indeed, she
may even have visited Oakhill on one or
more of these occasions. The current owners have been operating
a high quality bed & breakfast facility at
Oakhill and, due to its character and prime
location, the property has been in strong
demand for Cowes Week lets. Guests have
included the world-renowned sailor Paul
Cayard and Peter Harrison the multi
millionaire who bankrolled the British
Americas Cup campaign.
Amusingly, Princes William and Harry
went to their cousin Peter Phillips stag
weekend on the Isle of Wight and the
organiser asked if the party could stay at
Oakhill. Even though royalty was involved the
B&B held a strict policy of no stag groups and
so they were turned away!

Anahita World Class Sanctuary in Mauritius set its
architect and interior designer the task of evoking an

Light and white were two key words in the
design brief for these new Mauritian style
villas. The use of white concrete floors,
sand-blasted decking, stone walls and
distinctive accents of stainless steel and
wood gives these homes an interesting
shabby chic ambience.
The interior designer behind this look is
Virginie Dalais. She was brought up in a
beautiful Victorian home in the middle of the
sugar cane-fields of Northern Natal in South
Africa and feels she was born into the whole
design ethos. Our home was full of special
things, explains Virginie. My mother had a
natural flair and style and an incredible
ability to create moments and ambiances
that always surprised us. A simple picnic
with its attention to detail turned into a
grand occasion!
As the villas were to be family homes, the
spaces needed to be designed with the word
fun in mind. At the same time they had toallow each member of the family to feel relaxed
but also be able to integrate with each other
in an environment that was conducive to
enjoying a memorable time together.
I so wanted guests or home owners who
invested in Anahita to experience a home from
home feeling, says Virginie. Moving from one
hemisphere to another also allowed the client
to enjoy a completely new experience being
on an island and on the coast amongst the
mangroves and looking out on to coconut
groves and the Ernie Els golf course was an
inspiration to create a home that was beachy,
tropical, cool and fun.
Breath of fresh air
Both Virginie and the architect Alistair
Macbeth focused on cross ventilation using tall
pivoting doors that allow lots of fresh air to
circulate though the building. I focused on
white and light, explains Virginie, with
touches of colour to enhance a very white and
neutral furniture package. I love texture thedecor allows a lovely balance between the
rough and the smooth yet keeps a very
comfy flop in the sofa atmosphere after a long
day out in the sun!

All the artwork incorporated in the
interior design has been inspired by the island
using items such as shells, corals and sand
and these details are picked up in the fabrics
and parts of the furniture and wall sculptures.
The fabrics are all natural linen and cotton
fibres, continues Virginie, long flowing
drapes blowing in the breeze really are
conducive to island living. I love the softness
of this palette which has allowed this islandstyle atmosphere to be created.
The architect and I put our heads together
and not only focused on the big picture of
getting the spaces right but also keeping an
emphasis on the small details which make an
interior special. This holistic approach allows
this villa to be unique. This home was designed
as if it was my very own. I could so easily live
in it part of me is so part of these spaces.
Magical mismatchAs to the future of interior design, Virginie
believes we will move into an age of blending
the old and the new. At present we are moving
from a very contemporary moment in design
(with too many things copied in China) to a
more eclectic way of mixing the classical,
quirky, rustic and contemporary ambiance a
magical mismatch of texture and a feeling
which can make interiors far less copy and
paste but allowing designers to have a unique
and individual flair.
There will be no barriers with colour, style and design. Lets do away with the
stereotyped interiors and add a cutting edge
to the spaces. Reintroducing the old and the
new, the rough and the smooth, the light and
the dark will be used in more innovative ways.
Whatever style of design you favour, Virginies
parting advice is to be passionate about your
living space. Light candles make it
comfortable and sensual! Live the moment. Be
generous with form, colour and comfort. But
keep in mind less is more!

What do actress Sienna Miller,
singers Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Skin
of Skunk Anansie, Cheryl Cole
and Beth Ditto and models
Agyness Deyn and Alice Dellal all
have in common? The answer is
that they have worn creations
from the London-based
MariaFrancescaPepe (MFP) label.
Its always interesting to fnd
out what inspired a ashion
designer to enter the business. In
Maria Francesca Pepes case she is
quick to say that, more than being
an inspiration, it was a necessity. I
studied philosophy and literature
or a while beore realising that I
needed to make my hands dirty
and make something besides
thinking it, she explains.
MariaFrancescaPepe Jewellery-
Wear is described as being a new
concept or both ashion jewellery
and clothing that become
interchangeable items and
essential pieces or a new luxury
ideal. The boundaries between
clothing and accessories are aded
and they become unctional, one
to the other. All the pieces are
made in Italy to the highest
tailoring and handcrat quality
standard and Maria works in close
contact with all her selected
artisans and actories.
Bathing beauties
This years MFP spring/summer
collection is entitled Bathing
Beauties or good reason. Water
elements and movement have
inspired this collection, explains
Maria. I wanted to explore the
weightless eect o the sparkling
ragments o my creation as they
came into contact with water and
light. The airy shapes o Ertes
illustrations and the glamour o
Esther Williams movies did the
rest. I draped and olded the metal
to achieve light and fn-like
jewellery as marine creatures.

Maria says the most recent
memorable moment o her career
so ar was when she was
nominated as Best New Talent in
Accessories Design at the British
Fashion Awards. Prior to that it was
her very frst Vogue Italia editorial
and watching as celebrities
gradually discovered her creations.
But the best sensation, she
recalls, came rom my very frst
London Fashion Week catwalk
show with Fashion East and the
next days double page spread o
my show fnale in the Evening
Standard. I have been blessed by
the press. This sudden amazing
exposure has given me the guts to
keep working hard and building
up my own brand. I love working
with editors and photographers:
its the part I enjoy the most giving

head or too long and fnally
sharing my vision, looking at how
others receive it and inuence it.
Dress to impressMany amous ashion designers
have made an impression on
Maria during the course o her
career such as Martin Margiela, Rei
Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, Alber
Elbaz and Karl Lagereld. The
Tubular has become MFPs most
recognisable art-crat, being
eatured in all the most prestigious
magazines and worn by
celebrities. These have become
iconic and will be always a

best thing is that we keep fnding
new ways to re -invent them.
They are an evergreen. Although
my avourite pieces are the

Maria believes stones are going
to make a big comeback or
jewellery, especially semiprecious
ones like quartz and hematite.
The Goth accents o religious
jewellery is also something thats
going to be hot. And, thereore the
use o chains, is still going to be
developed in so many ways. As or
pairing jewellery with clothing to
create the best eect, Maria
advises that you should frst
choose the piece o jewellery you
want to wear and then work the
rest o your outft around that, not
vice versa.
As to uture ashion trends,
Maria predicts that strong colours
and prints will continue to be
relevant as the overall aesthetic.
I think its reaching a new orm o
minimalism that includes the idea
o ornament and embellishment
next to the rigour o the silhouette
and the defnition o the shapes.
Versatility and comort are key.
So, our fnal question has to be,
i Maria could design an outft or
someone past or present who
would it be? Without any

The international auction house Bonhams is currently sourcing collectors
cars or its frst sale o this type in Dubai. It will be held at the Royal Mirage
Hotel during the traditional October auction season, along with their
regular Modern & Contemporary Middle Eastern, Iranian & South East Asian

Bonhams has continued to expand in the region since 2008 and, despite the
current economic challenges, Dubai's art market remains strong. Recent success
means that the company eels its only logical to introduce Collectors' Motor Car
auctions. Bonhams was the frst to hold auctions in Monaco in the 1980s and
now have annual sales all over the world, oten coinciding with prestigious
events, in the USA, UK, Monaco, Paris and Australia.
Watches are a natural partner or motor cars and the auction in October will also
include vintage and limited edition watches. The appetite or Collectors Motor
Cars is certainly growing in the area, says James Knight, group head o Bonhams'
Motoring Department. With the emergence o events such as the Dubai Classic

A fine catchCruden Bay is a small village in Scotland, on
the north coast of the Bay of Cruden in
Aberdeenshire, Being just 24 miles from
Aberdeen, the oil capital of Europe and
probably the world, it has not been hit by the
recession and the entire surrounding area is
prosperous. Aberdeen itself is like any new
cosmopolitan city with all the amenities you
could wish for and an international airport.
In the early 1900s Cruden Bay was home to
one of three old grand hotels owned by
British Rail, the others being Gleneagles and
Turnberry. Hence the famous Cruden Bay golfcourse which our featured property within the
fishing community of Port Errol overlooks.
Port Erroll was purchased three years ago
from a local family who had worked the
salmon fishery for hundreds of years. Port
Erroll Developments purchased it to carry on
this tradition as its one of the only places
where there is the right to fish for wild salmon
in the UK.
Donald Trump came to the area a few years
ago and fell so in love with the coastline
that he purchased a huge part of it. He is
currently spending over 1 billion building
what he claims will prove to be the best
golf development in the world, 14 miles from
Port Errol.
Because of Port Errolls unique site, the
developers decided to apply for planningpermission to build a new house and also
redevelop an existing old salmon cottage.
This was a long shot because included on the
site is an ice-house which Historic Scotland has
great interest in. After going through much red
tape permission was finally granted so long as
the developers restored the ice-house which
will be included in the sale of the new house.
Due to all the facts above, Port Erroll
Developments decided to push the boat out
with the reconstruction of the salmon bothy.
It will be a three-bedroom house with its
exterior walls of two-foot thick local granite
being totally refurbished to restore them to
their original state. These walls are a unique
feature as they would be nearly impossible to
build nowadays.
The interior is to be very similar to anoriginal Nantucket beach house but with
distinct touches that will make it to the high
standard that any buyer would expect from a
five-star, world-class hotel. The property will
feature highest quality natural flagstone floors

to the lounge kitchen and halls. The bedrooms
will have solid oak with tasteful hand made
rugs to suit the setting. Under floor heating will
be installed throughout to ensure comfortable
warmth, while the kitchen will be hand built
at serious cost with all modern equipment
hidden behind an old world exterior. The
bathrooms and all other living areas will also
be completed to an exceptional finish. There
are a few weeks remaining in which a new
buyer can change any of the specifications
therwise the property will be completed
within the next three months. The second house is a totally new build but
will not look as if it is because the developers
are using different materials on the exterior
that will bring a blend of ultra modern and old
fashioned to give a unique property. The
house will have four bedrooms with large
social areas and a great open plan kitchen/
living area. The interior can be still changed
by a new buyer as the developers are still
going through the floor plan to determine the
interior design.
There are some amazing features to this
house which include a World War II pillar-box
in its original position. This will be refurbished
to make a barbecue house and a fabulous sun
terrace. The ice-house will also be included in
the sale of this new property.
Either of the two houses presents a rarechance to purchase something totally unique
with awesome views and a wild salmon
fishery. The developers will retain any rights
to the fishing but the purchasers will be
encouraged to fish with them.

Resplendentin RomeExperience the Eternal City in the height of elegance and style by
staying amidst a veritable living art gallery of Old Masters, rare
tapestries, exquisite sculptures and French period furniture
Italy is one of the most popular holiday
destinations in the whole of Europe, not least
because all four seasons are equally good for
a visit. In summer, Italy is an international
playground, with visitors from all continents
mingling with holidaying Italians at the
famous resorts. Spring arrives early and
autumn lingers giving the opportunity for
exploring the many art centres, museums
and historic monuments at a quieter, moreleisurely pace.
Rome is without question the art and
historic capital of the world stretching
back over 2000 years, evidence of which
can still be seen today. As the famous saying
goes, Rome wasnt built in a day, and it
certainly cant be experienced in a day! If youre
planning to visit the city and would like to stay
somewhere that will make the holiday truly
memorable, then Rome Cavalieri has an
admirable reputation.
Having opened its door to international
travellers some 45 years ago, Rome Cavalieri
has become one of the Eternal Citys leadinghotels. Now part of The Waldorf Astoria
Collection, it joins an exclusive club of
properties that are simply one of a kind.

Astoria, each hotel in the growing collectionhas its own distinct character, timeless
architecture and special history.
Perfectly situated in a 15-acre private park
just two miles from the Vatican, the Rome
Cavalieri is hailed as a luxurious resort in the
heart of Rome. Featuring 370 guestrooms,
including 25 suites all with private balconies
overlooking the citys monuments, the hotel
is home to a highly prized private collection
of furniture, paintings, tapestries, statues and
artefacts exhibited throughout its public
spaces and suites. Most of the collection has
been purchased by the hotels owning company
from Christies and Sothebys over a number
of decades.
Living the high lifeIf youre looking for the ultimate in
pure, unadulterated luxury, then the new
penthouse suite located on the exclusive
executive floor spans 250m as well as having
a 200m panoramic roof garden. Arrival and
departure from the Rome Cavalieri areguaranteed to be in style with the hotels own
chauffeur-driven Bentley that also remains at
the guests disposal throughout their stay in
the penthouse.
Furnished with armchairs and sofas thatonce adorned Karl Lagerfelds Paris home and
featuring such important works of art as a
series of Andy Warhol paintings, its dcor is
a blend of antique and modern.
Stress-relief was a major consideration for
its design. Pinpoints of optic fibre light set in
the ceiling twinkle over the whirlpool that is
set on a raised plinth to offer an exclusive view
over the dome of St Peters and across the city.
The hotel also features six food and beverage
outlets including the legendary La Pergola
restaurant and bar. Helmed by acclaimed
chef Heinz Beck, La Pergola was in 2005
awarded the Michelin Guides most prestigious
rating the coveted third star. The guide is
notoriously reluctant to grant three stars,
signifying excellent cuisine worth a special
journey to hotel restaurants which makes
the award especially impressive for the
Rome Cavalieri.
Style counselling
One-on-one, in-room access to Romes topcelebrity stylists, shoppers and make-up
artists is also provided at the hotel. This
enables all those ladies who have ever wished
they had the effortless chic style of Carla
Bruni, the perfect glossy locks of MargheritaMissoni or the flawless maquillage of Sophia
Loren, to learn the style secrets Italian women
swear by. They can also begin and end their
transformation with exclusive La Prairie face
and body treatments in the Cavalieri Grand
Spa Club.
Drive your dreamWhile the ladies are taking advantage of this
remarkable style by appointment service,
gentlemen are given the opportunity to drive
the Italian super car of their dreams with a
specially crafted experience day and luxury car
rental. Guests can drive through hilltop villages
along the winding roads of the route that made
the Gran Turismo sports car famous on the
iconic Mille Miglia route.
As the hotels website states there are places
you will always remember and experiences you
will never forget and with everything tailored
to offer the ultimate retreat in the heart of the
Eternal City, the Rome Cavalieri is almost
certainly guaranteed to provide both.

Riding
highThere are very few opportunities to rent houses of such
historic note and grandeur as Mas Mateu. The property
is in the heart of Girona, amongst the Gavarranmountains, and was originally built as a grand estate
more than 400 years ago. Now privately owned by one
of Spains most distinguished families, it was decided
that a team of architects, interior designers and
landscape planners should be carefully selected to
carry out the most extensive restoration imaginable. The
end result has to be seen to be believed. Original features
dating back over the centuries have been retained and
lovingly restored to their former glory while every state-
of-the-art amenity you could possibly desire for 21st
century living has been seamlessly added.
Its generally accepted that location is of vital importance
and Mas Mateu is admirably placed to exceed all
expectations on this requirement. Firstly, complete privacy
is assured as the main house is within the grounds of a
beautiful 173 acre forested estate, Secondly, Mas Mateu
provides the perfect base for exploring the surrounding
coast and countryside. Coves and white sandy beaches are
nearby, while if you drive just a few miles inland you will
discover a glorious yet often overlooked area, offering
outdoor pursuits to please all the family.
One place well worth a visit is the nearby medieval town
of Peratallada which is steeped in Catalan history andculture as well as being extremely attractive. The castle here
is famous for its keep and palace which dates from the 11th
century, while the church of Sant Esteve will delight those
with an interest in early Catalonian architecture.
