• I used clay to represent a cell and it’s organelles because it can be moved and shaped without damage and looks like cell organelles.

FunctionsThe cell wall provides structure for plant cells. The cell membrane protects the cell and let’s only certain thing enter or leave. The nucleus contains the cells genetic material (The brain of the cell). The mitochondria creates energy from the cell from respiration. Chloroplast creates energy from sunlight through photosynthesis. The Golgi body packages proteins for the cell to use. The endoplasmic reticulum forms an interconnected network between organelles. Ribosomes creates proteins for the cell. Vacuoles stores materials for the cell to use. The nuclear protects the nucleus and nucleolus.

Functions cont.• Cytoplasm is the gel that helps to protect the

organelles, keeps them in place, and is the place all chemical reactions occur in the cell. Lysosomes are used to digest food in the cell (like a stomach). A cytoskeleton is used to provide structure and further secure organelles in place. The nucleolus produces ribosomes for the cells. The chromatin is a jumbled up ball of chromosomes.
