Online Information Session: Global Talent Mentoring™ and

Other Advanced Learning Experiences

Objectives

Global Talent Mentoring™ is a valuable opportunity for exceptionally talented and

motivated youth to cultivate their academic, innovation and career development in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical sciences). It is a long-term one-on-one online mentoring programme and platform, with mentors who are world-leading STEMM experts. Students in the program also become part of a prestigious global community of STEMM talents and scientists. Global Talent Mentoring will assist students in learning and working on STEMM subjects by guiding them via an individualised learning path on their talent-development journey. Global Talent Mentoring™, directed by Prof Dr Heidrun Stoeger of the University of Regensburg, is a flagship offering of the World Giftedness Center (WGC). WGC is an endeavour by the UNESCO-recognised Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance in Dubai, UAE. The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) has formulated an official partnership with Global Talent Mentoring™ and is in charge of mentee nomination in Hong Kong. This is an information session to introduce the new and exciting Global Talent Mentoring™ programme launching in 2020. In addition, other advanced learning experiences and opportunities provided by HKAGE will also be introduced.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the programme, participants should be able to:

1. identify the nature, objective and scope of Global Talent Mentoring™;

2. identify the requirement and critical dates for application;

3. describe the selection criteria of Hong Kong round; and

4. identify other advanced learning opportunities offered by HKAGE.
