About the University
Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) is well connected with
community. The university regularly renders high quality community
services through its own wings such as National Service Scheme,
University Outhreach, National Cadet Corps, Department of Students
Welfare, and Community Centre. The proposal of establishment of
Community College at the University campus is under process. The
overall progress made by the University in all fields resulted in the th University receiving 78 NIRF ranking in the year 2021, and the 'A+'
grade from NAAC in March 2019. The university has been conferred
the National Service Scheme (NSS) Award for 2018-2019 in the university category by the Ministry of Youth Affairs
and Sports, Government of India. The university Faculty Development Centre regularly delivers online Faculty
Development Programmes.

RATIONALE OF THE FDP
Community service is the process of assisting ordinary people to improve their own communities by undertaking
collective action. It involves unpaid work performed by a person or group of people for the benefit and betterment of
their community without any form of compensation. Community service helps people to become active promoters
of more peaceful, tolerant, inclusive, secure, and sustainable societies. The main benefit of community service is
creation of a welcoming and inclusive community. Many people participate in community service because they
enjoy helping others and improving their community. The community services have become more important in
post-COVID-19 era.
OBJECTIVES OF THE FDP
The main objective of the proposed programme is to facilitate the effective implementation of the new education
policy. The specific objectives of the programme are as follows:
(i) To train the participants for research and innovation in the area of community services.
(ii) To enable the participants for carrying out community service projects.
(iii) To improve the employability of students by developing community service skills.

PEDAGOGY
The pedagogy of this programme includes delivering online lectures by subject experts and conducting an online
live mediation session.
PARTICIPANTS
The faculty members of the AICTE approved institutions, research scholars, PG Scholars, participants from
Government, Industry (Bureaucrats/Technicians /Participants from Industry etc.)/School Teachers and staff of host
institutions. No more than 30% participants would be from host institution.
TYPE OF TRAINING
The FDP training will be of elementary level and practical sessions will be conducted.
TEST AND CERTIFICATE
An online test shall be conducted by coordinator at the end of the program. The certificates shall be online generated
to those participants who are registered on ATAL portal www.aicte-india.org/atal and attend the program with
minimum 80% attendance and score minimum 60% marks in the test.
