Ottawa Japanese Cultural Activities Guide

Ikebana International is a worldwide non-profit cultural organization founded in Tokyo in 1956. At present there are 143 chapters worldwide with membership of more than 7,000 individuals. The organization, with its motto “Friendship through Flowers,” is dedicated to perpetuating and spreading the art of Japanese floral design (Ikebana) and other facets of Japanese culture.

Ikebana International Ottawa Cen-tennial Chapter No 120 is an affiliate of Ikebana International. The Ottawa Chapter received its charter in 1969 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019.

How to join: Recruitment of new mem-bers is from May 1st until June 30th each year. Annual membership fee: $145Contact for information:

Ottawa Chapter’s President: [email protected] International Ottawa Chapter does not teach or endorse any single type of Ikebana. It is an association that encompasses many different Schools of Ikebana. Two Schools offer Ikebana classes in the National Capi-tal Region: Sogestsu and Ohara.
