The Problem Introduction

In 1959 he co-founded the branch suryemení of the Arab Nationalist Movement (NAM), which emerge in 1963 the National Liberation Front (NLF) of South Yemen.

"The chair is an original excuse to draw world attention to our right to be a full member in the UN," said Abdulfattah. "We are a people that has over 60 years waiting. Just want to be like everyone else," adds Abdulfattah.

The world watches impassively crime being committed, day after day, the Zionist State of Israel, and is called the 'Palestinian problem', as if the Palestinians were the problem.

A Palestinian people, suffering is the one directly in the flesh the consequences of this 'problem' artificially created at the time by the Western powers and now and always well lubricated by the United States.

News of the problem

Page 7: Palestinian Statehood

In September 2011, the U.N. General Assemblyis expected to vote on a resolution recognizing Palestinian statehood.

This resolution is linked to Palestinian efforts to obtain U.N. membership as a state and to delegitimize Israel.

Page 8: Palestinian Statehood

These efforts will have no legal significancebecause the General Assembly has no standing to recognize statehood—that is the right of sovereign states—or to grant U.N. membership without the Security Council’sprior recommendation, which the U.S. has indicated it willveto.

Page 9: Palestinian Statehood

But they will undermine U.S. interests by escalatingtensions and harming efforts to resolve the internationalpeace and security issues in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

The U.S. should take steps to oppose the Palestinian effortto gain international recognition at the expense of Israel, rather than through negotiations with it.

Page 10: Palestinian Statehood

As the Palestinians seek U.N. support for a state of their own, Washington has advanced two arguments to dissuade them: first, that taking the issue of statehood to the United Nations is a unilateral move away from negotiations with Israel; and second, that the effort will be counterproductive because the United States will veto any such U.N. Security Council resolution.

The White House said Tuesday night that President Barack Obama would meet with Abbas on Wednesday on the sidelines of the meeting at the UN. Obama's diplomatic delegation reiterated repeatedly that the United States, Israel's main ally, will exercise his power of veto in the Security Council if the Palestinians get the necessary 15 votes to nine that the powerful body adopt a resolution recommending the incorporation of Palestine as a member of the United Nations.

Talking points

Page 13: Palestinian Statehood

The Palestinian effort to gain U.N. membershipand state recognition through a GeneralAssembly vote is based on false assumptions.

Page 14: Palestinian Statehood

The General Assembly has no authority toadmit a new member state without a SecurityCouncil recommendation or to compelU.N. member states to recognize Palestine asa state.

Page 15: Palestinian Statehood

Diplomatically and rhetorically, Palestine willportray the vote as support for its unilateraldeclaration of statehood, attempt to use it toimpose unacceptable conditions on Israel bycircumventing negotiation, and refer to it asevidence in its ongoing assault on the legitimacyof Israel.

Page 16: Palestinian Statehood

The U.S. should veto any recommendationon granting U.N. membership to Palestine, declare that the U.S. will not recognize aPalestinian state unless it renounces terrorismand recognizes Israel’s right to exist, andannounce that the U.S. will withhold contributionsto any U.N. organization that admitsPalestine as a state or grants it non-memberstate observer status.
