What Happened ?

• The deadliest terrorist attack ever in the history of Pakistan

• On December 16, a group of gunmen from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked an army-run school in Peshawar, northwestern Pakistan

• Over 140 people, including at least 132 children, have been killed and more than 100 were injured in the attack

How it Happened

• The terrorists began their attack at 11 am local time (6 am GMT) and entered through a graveyard behind the school.

• Successive explosions were reportedly heard, followed by firing from automatic weapons.

• Then gunmen were asked to kill older children and release younger ones.

• Students who were trapped had to run past the dead bodies of friends and classmates as they escaped.

• One of the student said, “when we were coming out of the class we saw dead bodies of our friends lying in the corridors. They were bleeding. Some were shot three times, some four times”.

• Children were forced to watch their teachers burn alive including the principal Tahira Kazi, being burned alive before them.

• Students and other staffs were soon taken to Peshawar hospital. They said the hospital was flooded with blood and tears.

What was her fault ?

Aim of the Attack• The Talibans targeted the innocents because they

were the children of Army officers.• One of the spokesperson of Taliban said that that "we

targeted the school because the Army targets our families. We want them to feel our pain.”

• The attack was a revenge for Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the Pakistani military's military offensive in North Waziristan that started in summer 2014.

• The attack is believed to have been in retaliation for Malala Yousafzai's Nobel Peace Prize
