TREATMENT RESEARCH INSTITUTE ABOUT US Since being established in 1992, the Treatment Research Institute (TRI) has been a leader in the substance use research field, with a belief that science can only be truly impactful when it is used to improve policies, programs and practices. Our work focuses on applying research to change behaviors, with the ultimate goal of improving outcomes for individuals, families and communities affected by addiction. Our collaborations with distinguished partners from across the globe have enhanced our quest to advance the way in which addiction is perceived and managed. TRI’s relentless commitment to discovering and disseminating SOLUTIONS to substance-use problems drives our work, our mission and our vision. OUR MISSION AND APPROACH TRI’s principal and driving objective is to use science to change behaviors in the area of substance use disorders. We work to achieve our mission through four key initiatives/areas: 1 CONDUCTING RESEARCH and publishing our findings in academic journals and at conferences around the world. 2 ENGINEERING SCIENCE-BASED TOOLS that meet the needs of families, schools, criminal justice, treatment providers and the community. 3 INFORMING THE PUBLIC about the disease of addiction – and offering solutions. 4 IMPACTING POLICY by working with state, federal and international groups to provide guidance on improving the overall system of care. MULTIDISCIPLINARY AND COLLABORATIVE TRI is comprised of experts from multiple fields, each dedicated to applying their knowledge to finding solutions for substance use problems. Our team includes academic researchers, clinicians, data analysts, policy-makers and public affairs specialists. Our organization has a long history of working across sectors to achieve major priorities, and draws on a breadth of expertise to continue to be innovative and impactful in our work to prevent, intervene earlier and effectively treat substance use disorders. © 2013 Treatment Research Institute To learn more about TRI’s work and impact, please visit our website at www.tresearch.org.
