Quiero comenzar esta editorial, para en primer lugar y con carácter especial, expresar nuestro gran agradecimiento, en nombre de todo el equipo de redacción, fotografía, diseño, publicidad, marketing, comercial y en el mío propio, a todos aquellos, que han depositado su confianza en nosotros.

De nuevo, con todos ustedes, presentándoles la información, de los acontecimientos y eventos, que bajo nuestra modesta opinión, más les pueden resultar de interés.

Nuestra idea, es ofrecer a todos los jugadores, aficionados y simpatizantes de este deporte, un contenido ameno, divertido, fiel a la noticia, con un tratamiento profesional, pero sin olvidarnos, de la visión del jugador amateur, con el que intentamos mantener una gran complicidad.

Quiero, desde esta tribuna, que me brinda Golf Shots, mostrar mi más fuerte convicción de que, con la ayuda de todos y cada uno, de nuestros lectores, vamos a conseguir, establecer en este segmento, una revista, que junto con la más actual información, cubra todos y cada uno de los aspectos, datos y comentarios, que a ustedes, no sólo les llamen la atención, sino que además, repasen toda la actualidad, de nuestro golf más cercano, el de todos nosotros, el de los campeonatos semanales, el de nuestras academias, es decir, NUESTRO GOLF, con mayúsculas.

Espero, que este segundo número de nuestra revista, comience a cubrir, ese hueco, falto de información, que nuestros lectores desean, y espero poder contar con todas vuestras ideas, comentarios y sugerencias, para hacer crecer más, esta VUESTRA REVISTA.

I want to begin this editorial one, in the first place and with special character, to express our great gratitude, in name of all the team of editing, photography, design, publicity, marketing, commercial and in mine own, to all those, that

have placed their confidence in us. Again, with you, presenting them the information,

of the events, that under our modest opinion, they can result them of interest.

Our idea, is to offer to all the players, enthusiastic and supporters of this sport, a faithful, amusing, mild content to the news, with a professional processing, but without forgetting us, the vision of the amateur player, with the one that we try to maintain a great complicity. I want, since this tribunal, that Golf Shots offers me, to show my but hardly conviction that, with the aid of all and each one, of our readers, we are going to obtain, to establish in this segment, a magazine, that along with the but current information, he cover all and each one of the aspects, data and comments, that to you, not alone they call them the attention, but besides, they review all the present time, of our more nearby golf, that of all of us, that of the weekly championships, that of our academies, that is to say, OUR GOLF, with capital letters.

Para comenzar, un gran par 4 que será un indicio de lo que vendrá más tarde. El drive debe pasar un barranco hasta llegar a una calle empinada.

El Chaparral Golf Club se ha convertido desde su reapertura en uno de los campos de golf más atractivos de la Costa del Sol. Todo ello se debe al empeño y tesón de D. Antonio Rubio y su empresa familiar en situar a El Chaparral Golf Club como uno de los campos del golf preferentes de la Costa del Sol.

Diseño Original de Pepe Gancedo, es el único campo de la Costa del Sol con 6 pares 3, 6 pares 4 y 6 pares 5. Con una longitud de 6.000 metros de largo, cuenta con una gran variedad de hoyos y es bastante exigente, por lo que requiere gran precisión y habilidad.

Servicio de primera calidad desde su llegada al Club: parking techado en madera en un 90 %, atención inmediata de bienvenida, recogida de bolsa de palos, atención en la pro-shop por personal especializado, vestuarios muy acogedores e inmejorablemente decorados.

Incuestionable la hierba de este campo, famoso entre los Campos del Golf de la Costa del Sol por los greens, donde la mano de D. Manuel Pantoja como Ingeniero Agrónomo ha influido enormemente, tanto en rediseño de algunos hoyos como en el estado actual en el que se mantiene.

El éxito de El Chaparral ha venido garantizado por la excepcionalidad de su entorno, sus infraestructuras, la calidad de su servicio y su buena relación calidad-precio. Desde cada hoyo se puede divisar un marco incomparable.

Se hizo esperar, como todo acontecimiento importante; no en vano es el tercer evento deportivo en orden de importancia tras los Juegos Olímpicos y los Mundiales de fútbol.

Una edición con un fuerte sabor a venganza, al menos desde el punto de vista del equipo europeo, que tiene como objetivo recuperar para Europa la Ryder, que hace dos años, en el Valhalla Golf Club de Louisville (Kentucky), se adjudicó el equipo americano con un resultado de cinco puntos de diferencia.

El escenario está preparado: las calles y los greenes del Celtic Manor

Golf & Resort en Newport (Gales) esperan con ansiedad el espectáculo, que los jugadores salgan al campo y comience la disputa de este desafío entre Europa y América.

Están todos, absolutamente todos, por parte americana: el eterno segundo del mundo Phil Mickelson, el recién ganador del Tour Championships, y a su vez de la FedEx Cup, Jim Furyk, los debutantes y, por supuesto, el número uno mundial, tanto deportiva como socialmente, Tiger Woods.

An edition with a strong flavor to revenge, at least from the point of view of the European equipment, which it has as aim recover for Europa la Ryder, who two years ago, in the Valhalla Golf Louisville’s Club (Kentucky), awarded the American equipment with a result of five difference points.

Siguiendo el símil teatral, se alzó el telón y allí estaba Dustin Johnson preparado para realizar el primer golpe de esta Ryder Cup 2010.

Y el espectáculo comenzó, pero como en cualquier tragicomedia que se precie intervino la sorpresa, sorpresa en forma climatológica que interrumpió la función a las 9.45 hora local.

Era tan inmensa la cantidad de agua vertida sobre el Celtic Manor, en la ciudad de Newport, Gales, que el juego tuvo que ser suspendido.

El partido restante entre Harrington y Donald por parte europea y Watson y Overton como pareja americana se mantenía igualado.

En ese momento, todo hacía presagiar que en unas tres horas, se podría reanudar el juego y esta grandiosa competición.

Pero el suspense también se ha querido unir a la representación, y la reanudación se ha hecho esperar, como la novia ante el altar, y no se ha podido reiniciar la competición hasta pasadas las 5 de la tarde hora local.

Resultado final, los primeros cuatro partidos no pudieron acabarse, y el

primero en salir lo reanudará desde el hoyo 13 del Celtic Manor.

La mitad de la primera parte de la jornada quedó suspendida por falta de luz, reanudándose mañana con el final de los cuatro partidos en juego para completar la jornada con seis encuentros en la modalidad de foursomes y, si el tiempo y la luz lo permiten, una parte de los siguientes fourballs.

Hasta el momento de la suspensión, la parte que se ha podido celebrar ha estado plagada de cambios en el rumbo de los diferentes partidos; sólo el protagonizado por la pareja europea Westwood y Kaymer se ha mantenido siempre al mismo lado de la balanza, la del equipo europeo.

El resto han ido alternándose, para acabar con ventaja del bando americano por dos puntos y medio a un punto y medio.

Aplaudiendo con insistencia, vitoreando a los nuestros, aupándolos y animándolos para con su aliento llevarlos hacia la victoria, pero con una educación exquisita, aplaudiendo todas y cada una de las acciones brillantes protagonizadas por los componentes del equipo americano.

El panorama se presentaba muy igualado, con alternativas constantes en el marcador, tan pronto los fourballs que restaban de juego de la jornada de ayer se decantaban hacia el lado europeo, como se inclinaba la balanza hacia el lado americano.

Y así las cosas, los primeros

cuatro encuentros, se inclinaban definitivamente al lado americano, situando el marcador con un total de dos puntos y medio, contra un punto y medio a su favor.

Tocaba a remontada a cargo de la caballería europea, y el comienzo de una jornada maratoniana; comenzó con buen ritmo y con claro color azul, el europeo.

Pero esta Ryder ha estado, está y va a terminar estando muy igualada.

Los partidos no se decantan de una manera contundente hacia ningún lado, y eso da pie a que tan pronto el marcador se viste de azul como que se tiñe de rojo, color que representa a los americanos.

Y en el discurrir del día, los encuentros en disputa bajo la modalidad de foursomes se empezaban a decantar de manera definitiva. Por una parte Jiménez, nuestro único representante

como jugador, formaba pareja con Peter Hanson, y se enfrentaban Tiger y Stricker, que se imponían por 4 hoyos y tres pendientes de jugar; primer batacazo para el equipo europeo.

Los hermanos Molinari mantenían una encarnizada lucha por mantenerse con vida en esta su primera intervención en la Ryder, pero al final se tenían que rendir ante la pareja americana compuesta por Zach Johnson y Hunter Mahan.

En el resto, nos imponíamos en los encuentros de Fisher y Harrington, este último invitado por el propio Colin Montgomery a formar parte del equipo europeo, en contra de bastantes opiniones, y hasta el momento, no ha sido capaz de mostrar ni su juego ni el porqué de su elección.

Y también nos imponíamos con el dúo formado por Ian Poulter y Luke Donald.

Y la sorpresa negativa llegaba al empatar un match que teníamos dominado desde el hoyo uno. La pareja formada, por Westwood y Kaymer se dejaba en el último hoyo de su recorrido medio punto, cediendo un empate ante Furik y el debutante Fowler.

Ampliando el comentario para hacerlo más fácil de comprender, los resultados que se sumaran a los respectivos marcadores serán aquellos de los partidos que se hayan disputado en su totalidad y todos aquellos que, por cualquier motivo no pudieran acabarse, se darán por empatados. Las predicciones no son nada halagüeñas, más bien todo

En el segundo encuentro, los irlandeses McIlroy y McDowell se imponían también, colocando el empate a seis en el marcador. Nuestro Miguel Ángel Jiménez, junto a Peter Hanson –una selección, bajo mi modesta opinión, no muy acertada del capitán Montgomery– se imponía a sus adversarios. Y de esta manera, Europa iba sumando punto tras punto, incluido el de Harrington, la auténtica, al menos hasta el momento, sorpresa negativa del equipo europeo por su bajísimo estado de forma.

Hasta el último de los enfrentamientos de hoy, donde los hermanos Molinari se defendieron con uñas y dientes agarrándose al campo con fuerza y con el apoyo de todo el público asistente, consiguieron al final salvar medio punto que puede resultar definitivo para el transcurrir de esta competición. Hemos podido comprobar la complicidad de todo el equipo europeo, incluidos los vicecapitanes. Hemos visto a Björn, Clarke, McGinley y nuestro Sergio García encarar al público, con claros gestos de emoción y arengarle para que anime más si cabe.

En resumen, grandísima reacción del equipo europeo. Nueva lección del público asistente mientras los americanos, con su peculiar forma de equipo, hacen en muchos casos la guerra de forma individual a la espera del milagro.

Preparación Física

Cuántos sobresaltos, de mayor o menor entidad, sufren a diario algunas personas, cuyos últimos recuerdos de actividad física, aunque encaramados en las ramas más altas y lejanas del árbol de los tiempos, los sienten tan cerca que confunden pasado con presente, poniendo en claro riesgo el futuro de su salud. En lo referente al ejercicio físico, lo que tú fuiste, hiciste o conseguiste hace 20, 10, 5, 1 año, o incluso, unos pocos meses, ya no sirve de referencia. Si has estado inactivo durante un periodo de tiempo, sea por enfermedad, lesión, trabajo, falta de tiempo o pereza, comienza por el principio, y no donde lo dejaste. Y el principio siempre es el mismo: visita a tu médico.

El estilo de vida occidental está jalonado de horarios estresantes: te levantas muy temprano, desayunas un café rápido, al trabajo, comes rápido y mal, vuelves al trabajo, recoges a los niños del colegio, los llevas a las actividades extraescolares, los vuelves a recoger, llegáis todos a casa, estás tan cansado que cenas un sándwich y te acuestas totalmente destruido. La Salud en la Preparación Física y la Nutrición.

EL COMIENZO DE TODOLo que es evidente, es

que, en estas condiciones, es muy complicado cuidar de tu cuerpo con un mínimo de lógica. Y, los más preocupados por todo esto, en cuanto tienen un rato libre,

se enfundan en sus zapatillas deportivas y se

disponen a hacer, en una hora, todo el ejercicio físico

que no pudieron hacer durante toda la semana. Error. Gran

error.

Al comenzar mis sesiones con nuevos alumnos, muchos de ellos me dicen: “Franko, tú no me entiendes. No tengo tiempo de estiramientos dinámicos, ni de calentar las articulaciones, ni, mucho menos aún, de realizar estiramientos estáticos después del ejercicio físico.” Y yo les contesto que, si disponen de pocos minutos para la actividad deportiva, se limiten a una buena tabla de estiramientos, y para casa. “Tú no me entiendes, Franko. Entro muy temprano a trabajar o estudiar, y no puedo realizar ejercicios matinales, ni prepararme un desayuno adecuado, y, además, no tengo apetito tan temprano”. Se necesitan 30’ exactos para:

1º.- Tomarte un poco de agua o zumo de naranja azucarado, para evitar la cetosis, causante de la falta de apetito por la mañana, así como del mal aliento (5’).

2º.- Realizar unos sencillos estiramientos para acondicionar el aparato locomotor, músculos y huesos, después de varias horas de inactividad (10’).

3º.- Prepararte y tomarte un tazón de cereales con leche desnatada y algo de fruta (15’). (El tridente imprescindible en el desayuno: cereales, lácteos y fruta).

Levantarnos 30’ antes de lo habitual posibilita una mejora considerable en tu calidad de vida y en tu salud. Lo sentirás y lo agradecerás en muy poco tiempo. Y, de la misma forma, podríamos mencionar innumerables

“Franko, tú no me entiendes, …”, que tienen respuestas sencillas, prácticas y realizables.

Eso es priorizar en tu salud. Ser consciente de tus limitaciones, sean de tipo físico, mental, de horario, de edad, y, sean las que sean, hacer lo correcto para tu salud. Olvídate de otras historias o fantasías. La salud. Tu salud. Eso es lo único realmente importante. Y, para ello, existen unas reglas de oro básicas e ineludibles:

1º.- Antes de iniciar una actividad física, realízate un buen chequeo médico. El facultativo te va a indicar qué es lo que no puedes hacer. De lo restante, eliges la actividad que te apetezca. Debes repetir este control facultativo periódicamente.

2º.- Debes ser consciente de que la actividad física debe estar unida a una nutrición. (no confundir nutrir con comer) y un descanso adecuados.

3º.- Estirar antes y después del ejercicio físico, y si escasea el tiempo, sólo estirar.

4.- Busca un profesional que te asesore y te dirija. No hagas locuras.

5.- Tú no eres un deportista de élite. No intentes imitarlos.

6.- Escucha a tu cuerpo. Si te dice basta, ¡¡¡¡párate.!!!!.

En sucesivos números, hablaremos de la fisiología de los sistemas orgánicos; tipos de estiramientos y cuándo se deben realizar; de los tipos de nutrientes, qué alimentos los contienen y cuándo, cuánto, qué, cómo y por qué hay que ingerirlos; del concepto de descanso reparador, necesario para poder realizar una actividad física óptima.

Y en el próximo, trataremos de la importancia de los estiramientos, de los tipos que existen, de cómo y cuándo realizarlos, y, por supuesto, veremos algunos específicos para la sana práctica del golf.

Boonchu Ruangkit cerró con un impresionante siete bajo par ronda final de 64, para capturar su cuarta victoria de 2010 en el Masters Seniors Benahavis, y agarrar con una mano la Orden al Mérito del Senior Toru Europeo.

El tailandés, que comenzaba el día, con una ventaja de un golpe sobre Jerry Bruner, terminó con un impresionante siete bajo par, y distanciando a sus perseguidores, el campeón inglés Carl Mason y John Gould, que acabaron con9 bajo par en el total.

GOLPE CORTOEL CHIP

Bueno, en un golpe de chip, vamos a seguir un orden de colocación como en cualquier otro golpe, que sería:

Primero, colocar el palo, de tal forma que respetemos los ángulos. Seguidamente cogeríamos el palo con un grip neutro, y a continuación el palo, cuadrando la cara.

Colocaríamos el cuerpo de tal forma que la bola siempre nos quede al centro de los pies y el pie izquierdo ligeramente más retrasado que el derecho, para que nos sea más sencillo

el giro, en el follow through en la bajada.

A partir de ahí, jugaremos con los grados de la cara del palo, si queremos que la bola levante más o levante menos, en el primer caso , abriríamos la cara del palo dándole más grados, y en segundo, al revés cerraríamos la cara del palo, es decir, quitándole grados al palo. Pero la colocación siempre seria la misma.

Dependiendo de la distancia que tengamos a la bandera, haremos más o menos swing.

En un golpe intermedio que tengamos 20 o 30 metros a la bandera,

seguiríamos ese orden de colocación que hemos dicho, y en este caso haríamos más o menos la mitad del swing, de tal forma, que muy importante sería el giro de cadera en el follow through, por eso hemos retrasado el pie izquierdo para que nos sea más fácil ese giro, también es prioritario dejar la cabeza quieta, para no levantarla, y que no nos venga ningún topazo.

Cuando me has dicho que respetemos los ángulos del palo, te refieres al hecho de que el jugador, sobre todo el amateur tiene la costumbre de abrir un poco más el palo con el ánimo de levantarlo.

Claro lo abren o incluso adelantan mucho las manos, muchas veces no es malo adelantar un poco las manos, pero yo soy partidario de colocar el grip al centro, cuando te hablo de respetar los ángulos del palo, principalmente es apoyar la base entera del ángulo que forma la base con la varilla, tendría que apoyar toda la base del palo para respetar ese ángulo y aparte respetar los grados de la cara del palo.

Lógicamente cuadrándola normal, sí que es verdad que habrá veces, que abramos un poquito más la cara y otras menos, pero en general la cara del palo deberíamos colocarla cuadrada.

CHIP RODADO

El chip rodado es un golpe que solemos hacer cuando estamos muy cerquita del green, en el anillo del antegreen. A un metro escaso, metro y medio del green es muy práctico, porque se basa en reducir al máximo al margen de error y ello lo vamos a conseguir reduciendo el tamaño del swing, cuando menos swing hagas

mas difícil que falle.

Dependiendo de la distancia de la bandera, voy a coger un palo u otro, siempre independientemente de esa distancia, intentaremos botar la bola al principio del green porque es la zona más cercana a nosotros donde sabemos cómo va a reaccionar la bola, la distancia siempre la va hacer el palo.

Si hablamos de palos concretos para un golpe rodado qué palos recomendarías.

Ya te digo, depende de la distancia

que tengamos a bandera, en general

la gente suele usar un 7 o un 8, pero se puede hacer con cualquier palo con un hierro 3, un hierro 5, incluso se puede hacer con alguna madera, todo va a depender de la distancia que tengamos desde el principio de green hasta nuestro objetivo que es la bandera, lógicamente.

LA COLOCACION DE LOS PIES

En la colocación, intentaríamos siempre respetar lo que hemos dicho antes, los grados de la cara del palo, para que la bola nos haga distintas distancias, dependiendo del palo que tengamos porque si no respetamos esos grados, te puede salir cualquier distancia.

Golf Infantil

La cantera de golfistas andaluces no deja de acumular éxitos. Buena prueba de ello fueron los excelentes resultados logrados por nuestros jugadores en el Campeonato de España Infantil de Pitch & Putt REALE, celebrado los días 4 y 5 de septiembre en el campo de Masía de las Estrellas (Valencia).

A pesar de la alta participación (más

de 130 jugadores de categoría Infantil, Alevín o Benjamín), los representantes andaluces dieron un auténtico recital de juego y se auparon a los primeros puestos de la mayoría de clasificaciones.

Por encima del resto, destacaron Isabel Bascuas Marcuello y Ángel Hidalgo Portillo, campeones de España en categoría Infantil Femenino y Alevín Masculino respectivamente. Estas brillantes victorias tienen doble mérito, ya que ambos jugadores lograron revalidar el título conseguido la pasada edición en el trazado murciano de Torre Pacheco.

Ángel Hidalgo, autor de 105 (54+51) golpes, se valió de su segunda vuelta para arrebatar el primer puesto al madrileño Alejandro del Rey González. Por su parte, Isabel Bascuas, también

con 105 golpes, protagonizó la remontada del campeonato gracias a una extraordinaria segunda ronda de 47 golpes.

La delegación andaluza completó su gran actuación con las terceras posiciones de Guillermo Elías Moreno Piña (Infantil Masculino), Ana Peláez Triviño (Alevín Femenino) y Laura María Gómez Ruiz (empatada a golpes con la segunda clasificada en categoría Infantil Femenino).

1ª JORNADA

Ha comenzado el Andalucía Valderrama

Masters con una presencia muy alta de jugadores importantes movidos básicamente por dos razones: por un lado, el importante montante económico de premios –nada menos que tres millones de euros a repartir– y, por otro, porque se trata de la última prueba del Circuito Europeo que sirve como clasificación y último eslabón a la final de la Carrera a Dubai.

Centrándonos en el aspecto puramente deportivo, la primera jornada comenzaba con muchos interrogantes que después se irían resolviendo. ¿Sería Sergio García capaz de volver a ser el de antes? ¿Aguantaría nuestro maestro, José María Olazábal, un campo tan exigente después de un año de inactividad?

Sergio, en un día muy complicado, ha dado la talla. Se ha mantenido bajo par y ha firmado una vuelta muy buena; hay que recordar que sólo 17 jugadores eran capaces de ganar al campo. Nuestro Chema Olazábal aguantaba

la jornada y, a pesar de sus dos golpes sobre el par, se mostraba satisfecho y, con él, nosotros de haber comenzado la recuperación de uno de los grandes. Pablo Larrazábal ha realizado una primera jornada impecable, después de que su padre nos comentara que le hacía falta jugar más tranquilo antes de la salida. Jiménez, Fernández-Castaño y los Cañizares cumplían sin grandes alardes.

Mención aparte merece la actuación de Álvaro Quirós, el último campeón del Open de España, que ha sucumbido fatídicamente ante un campo, el de Valderrama, que curiosamente conoce a la perfección por estar situado a pocos metros de su residencia habitual.

En lo meramente deportivo, gran

jornada de Miguel Ángel Jiménez, que con un total de 2 bajo par se mete de lleno en la pomada en la lucha por el título en esta primera edición del Andalucía Valderrama Masters. Bien por Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño, que a pesar de ser el jugador que más torneos del circuito ha disputado sigue luchando como el primero.

Bien por Sergio García que ha conseguido pasar el corte en su segunda cita tras su reaparición en los campos de golf tras dos meses inactivo por un periodo de reflexión que se tomó. Parece que ha resultado positivo.

Esto es señal inequívoca de cómo es de complicado Valderrama, de la gran labor de preparación del mismo. Un campo que no regala absolutamente nada, y que en cuanto te descuidas lo más mínimo, no solo te penaliza, sino que como lo pienses un poco te manda para casa y sin posibilidad alguna.

La gran alegría nos la daba Chema Olazábal que vuelve a pasar el corte aunque con muchas dificultades. Ignacio Garrido, Alejandro Cañizares, y Santi Luna. Y por otro lado Graeme

McDowell, el héroe de la Ryder Cup, un líder muy sólido que encabeza la clasificación con 7 bajo par.

Mañana comienza el asalto al poder con Miguel Ángel, Sergio y Gonzalo como mejores clasificados. Pelearán hasta la extenuación por acercarse al líder y Valderrama tiene en su mano ayudar un poquito a los nuestros. Hay mucho golf por presenciar y ojalá podamos celebrar el triunfo de alguno de los nuestros.

3ª JORNADA

Qué jornada, con toda la incertidumbre que cabía esperar. Apareció de nuevo el viento, protagonista principal en Valderrama, aunque no en la medida que todos esperábamos y que necesitábamos.

El día amaneció con claros y nubes, pero con una mañana impecable, aunque, todo sea dicho de paso, Valderrama se defiende solo, como bien indicó Felipe Ortiz-Patiño.

La lástima es que al frente de la clasificación tenemos a dos escoceses, que como bien comentó Miguel Ángel Jiménez al finalizar su recorrido, “estos dos sí que juegan con el viento”.

Pero esto es GOLF, sí, con mayúsculas. Como estaba previsto, este Andalucía Valderrama Masters va a poner muchas cosas en el sitio que corresponden. Ha puesto en su sitio a Lee Westwood, jugador que se merece, por trayectoria, por garra y

por golf, el número 1 del mundo.

Y ha colocado a Westwood como número 1 porque la actuación de Martin Kaymer no ha sido la esperada. La temporada está siendo muy larga y los jugadores están realmente cansados, y esto tiene su repercusión, a la hora de afrontar los últimos envites.

Todo está muy complejo; el campo en unas condiciones sólo aptas para los mejores, para los grandes. Valga un solo dato que certifica esta opinión: sólo hay seis jugadores bajo el par del campo, después de tres jornadas.

Chema nos sigue deleitando con su presencia, aún falto de rodaje y de competición, pero agarrándose al campo con uñas y dientes y demostrando una vez más que se trata de un Maestro.

Vamos a por todas y mañana es el día. Miguel, la afición está contigo y aunque es difícil, sabemos que estás ahí. Como diría la frase taurina, Suerte

y al toro maestro.

Graeme McDowell supo

aguantar contra viento y marea, y nunca mejor dicho. El dios Eolo se había aliado a primera hora de la mañana con nuestro Pisha, pero él no supo o no pudo corresponderle.

Se acabó, la suerte ha quedado echada. Todos los intentos resultaron baldíos y el ganador de la Orden de Mérito, el héroe de la última Ryder Cup, se ha impuesto en el Andalucía Valderrama Masters. Graeme McDowell supo aguantar contra viento y marea, y nunca mejor dicho. El dios Eolo se había aliado a primera hora de la mañana con nuestro Pisha, pero él no supo o no pudo corresponderle.

Valderrama amanecía como todos los aficionados esperábamos, con un día de amenaza de lluvia y viento claro de poniente con fuerza y sin pausa, dejando claro que sólo los campeones llegarían al final con opciones de triunfo. Miguel Ángel Jiménez ponía su calculadora en el tee del hoyo 1, pero la primera suma no concordaba con lo pretendido y el de Churriana se anotaba un bogey en su tarjeta que le colocaba en clara desventaja con sus enemigos deportivos.

Parecía que los irlandeses se habían aliado con el viento, en contra de los aficionados, que desde el primer golpe jaleaban y apoyaban hasta la extenuación a Jiménez. Esto es:

público, un campo en perfectas condiciones, una nómina de jugadores de primerísimo nivel y grandes premios.

Sólo faltaba un ganador que fuera de los nuestros. Y esta última premisa fue la única que no se cumplió. Ganó un irlandés, McDowell. Un jugador que, según sus propios compañeros, lo ha merecido con creces tras una gran temporada que incluye hasta la Ryder Cup pasada, en la que resultó ser el autentico héroe de la armada europea, anotando el punto definitivo que nos dio la victoria.

¡VIVA EL GOLF! –escrito así, con mayúsculas– y un “hurra” con todas nuestras fuerzas a los preparadores de este escenario, que ha significado un antes y un después de cómo preparar un campeonato de este nivel. Se bajó el telón de esta edición del Andalucía Valderrama Masters.

Con el mejor posible, el torneo es un éxito, tanto a nivel de jugadores, de público, de organización, bueno hemos alcanzado nuestro objetivo y los siguientes serán todavía mejores.

El esfuerzo ha sido grande, yo hablaba con algunos de tus colaboradores, por ejemplo con Ramón y me decía, lo que ha habido que preparar y el tiempo en que se ha preparado.

La verdad, es que ha habido poco tiempo de preparación, no te parece?

Pues sí, poco tiempo, pero el tiempo tampoco era tan problemático, porque el equipo del que disponíamos tenía experiencia, competencia, hemos trabajado con unas personas magnificas y ese equipo ha respondido mucho mas allá de las expectativas, como presidente del Club, estoy muy orgulloso, tanto de mis socios como de los trabajadores del Club, como del equipo de organización.

Y del campo que vamos a decir, cuatro jugadores solo por debajo del par, después de cuatro jornadas y 98 jugadores de lo mejorcito que se puede dar cita, hoy por hoy en el Golf

Mundial, exclusivamente 4 por debajo del par. Ha tenido gran influencia los cambios que se vienen realizando desde 2006?

Creo que todo tiene su importancia, llevamos desde el año 2006, realizando obras y reformas de adaptación de diferentes hoyos, greenes, etc.

Pero, bueno Valderrama es Valderrama y la dificultad pues la tiene, mi trabajo y el trabajo de mi junta directiva y el encargado de Campo es que el reto sea razonable, trabajamos en el campo lo modificamos, con arquitectos, con diseñadores, de manera que, el reto sea cada el mismo que hace 25 años y así lo es.

Pues por otra parte, mi enhorabuena. Que la edición de Valderrama Master del 2011 sea por lo menos tan exitosa como este Felipe.

Muchas gracias y podéis estar seguros que la próxima edición de este Andalucía Valderrama Masters, si cabe, va a ser aun mejor.

Mención aparte de la Organización, el campo que nos hemos encontrado ha sido objeto de múltiples alabanzas, qué significa para vosotros ésto?

La verdad que han venido los mejores del mundo, podemos decir que hoy en día, los mejores europeos, son también los mejores del mundo, y esto da una imagen de que tenemos un campo muy competitivo, un campo que creo que es justo, pero que realmente es exigente, como ha dicho nuestro presidente, pero la mejor demostración es esa, que estando los mejores jugadores del mundo, los resultados en rojo son los que se han visto.

Como te sientes después del éxito que ha habido aquí esta semana.

Me siento muy satisfecho, porque sinceramente hemos tenido un reto único, hemos organizado un campeonato que se puede decir, que es el mejor en todos los sentidos de Europa Continental esta temporada, en 45 días, con muchísimas dificultades, con bastantes diría, algunas personas en contra del propio Campeonato, algunos muy cerca, lamentablemente, muy cerca del nombre de Valderrama, pero a pesar de esos contratiempos, hemos conseguido hacer algo, creo que muy digno, que esta al nivel que se merece Valderrama, que se merece la Junta de Andalucía, y que se merecen todos los aficionados al golf, y en especial los andaluces.

No obstante, ha habido muchos comentarios, de toda índole, todos ellos, al menos bajo mi opinión, con el fin de desgastar la imagen y el resultado final de este Andalucía Valderrama Masters.

Yo te voy a ser muy sincero, hemos sufrido diferentes intentos de boicotear el torneo, uno de ellos, en concreto por el propio Jaime Ortiz-Patiño, que nos ha pedido, una cantidad imposible para cedernos las parcelas donde ubicar la zona comercial.

Pero, también he de decirte, que estoy convencido, de que hemos transformado las dificultades en ventajas, ahí tienes, sin ir más lejos, la villa del público, donde se han instalado nada menos que 2000 metros cuadrados de suelo teka, algo que no se había hecho nunca, y

con ello se ha dotado de una visión compacta del campo, alrededor de la Casa Club, consiguiendo que el publico haya vivido el autentico “corazón de Valderrama.

En este entorno privilegiado, formando una U de cara al azul Mediterráneo, está el parador. En la planta superior las habitaciones, con sus terrazas, ofrecen unas vistas inmejorables de la playa, la piscina rodeada de zonas ajardinadas y del propio recorrido del campo de golf.

Tras las recientes obras, el número de habitaciones se ha ampliado en 28, hasta alcanzar un total de 88.

En la planta inferior se ubican las zonas comunes, que ahora han sido redistribuidas o ampliadas, como es el caso del comedor.

Además, se ha redecorado todo el parador. Las zonas comunes y las habitaciones se han renovado con materiales como la madera y se ha utilizado un mobiliario sencillo y moderno, de líneas depuradas y bien estilizadas. El objetivo principal ha sido reforzar la sensación de luminosidad y dar amplitud a todos los ambientes, para resaltar la naturaleza circundante.

On the top floor the rooms and their balconies offer unbelievable views of beach, the swimming pool surrounded by gardens and the entire golf course. After the recent work the number of rooms has increased to 28, making for a total of 88. On the bottom floor is where the common areas are found, such as the dinging room, which have been redistributed and enlarged.

Additionally, the whole parador has been redecorated. The common areas and rooms have all been beautifully redone in wood and decorated in simple, modern furniture proves to be refined and stylish. The

main objective was to reinforce the sensation of openness and light as well as to highlight the beauty of the natural surroundings. The result is the perfect harmony of comfort and environment, fruition of the sustainable development policy and the environmental protection to which the Network is committed to. The fact of the matter is that the Network has more hotels that are environmentally certified by the EMAS regulations than any other hotel chain in Europe. The improvements have meant an 11.74-million-Euro expenditure, set to increase with the construction of a new spa area this year.

Corrían los años veinte del pasado siglo cuando la Familia Real británica descubrió la belleza y el encanto andaluz de la Costa del Sol, así denominada por un cónsul austriaco que quedó impresionado por sus innumerables horas bajo los rayos del astro rey. Cuentan que fue Beatriz de Battenberg, bisabuela del actual rey de España, quien impulsó la construcción de un campo de golf con 9 hoyos, junto con el Sindicato de Iniciativas de Málaga, organismo local potenciador del turismo en la zona. En 1929 se colocó la primera piedra y 17 años más tarde se decidió la ampliación del campo a 18 hoyos. El rediseño fue obra del eminente arquitecto Tom Simpson, constructor de los campos de Turnberry y Muirfield, en Escocia.

El Barclays, primer torneo de los play off de la Fedex Cup 2010, no ha podido tener un major y apasionante final, con el primer titulo y los primeros 2500 puntos en juego, los mismos se tuvieron que dilucidar en un play off, en las inmejorables instalaciones de Ridgewood Country Club, de Paramus.

Matt Kuchar y Martin Laird, se jugaron el tÍtulo, después de concluir ambos con 12 golpes bajo par.

Matt Kuchar remontó el domingo con un 5 bajo par, para forzar el play off de este Barclays, con el líder de la tercera ronda Martin Laird. Kuchar hizo un birdie en el primer hoyo extra para ganar su tercer título de la PGA TOUR, y el segundo en otros tantos años en un desempate (victoria

sobre Vaughn Taylor en el Turning Stone Resort 2009 Campeonato).

La victoria mueve Kuchar, que partÍa en el número 9, al número 1, en la lista

de puntos después del primer evento en los Playoffs de la PGA TOUR para la FedExCup.

Una de las notas más destacadas y comentadas, es la clasificación con muchísima holgura de Tiger Woods, para la siguiente prueba de los play off por esta edición de la Fedex Cup.

The Barclays, the first tournament of the playoffs for the FedEx Cup 2010, has not been able to have a major and exciting final, with the first title and the first 2500 points at stake,

they had to clarify in a play off in the excellent facilities of Ridgewood Country Club, Paramus.

Matt Kuchar Martin Laird and were played the title after finishing two under par 12.

Matt Kuchar went back on Sunday with a 5-under-par

to force a play off of the Barclays, the third-round leader Martin Laird. Kuchar made a birdie on first extra hole to win his third title of the PGA TOUR, and the second in as many years in a playoff (victory over Vaughn Taylor at the Turning Stone Resort Championship 2009).

The victory moves Kuchar, who started at number 9 to number 1 on the points list after the first event in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup.

One of the outstanding notes and commentary, is the classification with a lot of slack from Tiger Woods for the next round of the playoffs for this year’s FedEx Cup.

Play Off - FedEx Cup

La segunda cita con los play off de la Fedex Cup, nos condujo hasta el campo de TPC Boston, donde Charley Hoffman se alzó con la victoria.

Hoffman realizó 11 birdies en su camino en la ronda final. El 62 de Hoffman es su mejor marca personal en el TOUR. Su anterior mejor marca era un 63, en el 2008, en el Clásico Bob Hope y Valero Texas Open 2009.

Hoffman graba su primera victoria y se coloca entre los 10 primeros del Playoff y se garantiza un puesto en el Tour Championship presentado por Coca-Cola por primera vez. Hasta el momento el mejor resultado de Hoffman en la FedExCup es el puesto 37, en la edición del 2009.

Hoffman empató el récord de torneos bajo puntaje de 9 hoyos con un 29 en la espalda.

Jason Day, clasificado en segunda posición, se ha colocado 4º en la clasificación FedExCup, Geoff Ogilvy y Luke Donald, ambos clasificados en segunda posición empatados con Jason Day, se han colocado en los puestos 16 y 5 de la clasificación de la Fedex Cup.

Steve Stricker, clasificado en la

novena posición, en este Deustche Bank, se ha colocado 3º en la calsificacion de la Fedex Cup.

De momento todos los grandes favoritos siguen en la lucha por el título de la Fedex Cup, pendientes de la tercera prueba y de la final del Tour Championship presentado por Coca-Cola.

En las instalaciones de Cog Golf Hill & Country Club, en Lemont , Illinois, se ha disputado el tercero de los Play Off de la FedexCup 2010.

Dustin Johnson se alzó con la victoria en el tercer Play Off de la Fedex Cup, saliendo en el último partido de la ronda final, por quinta vez este año, ha conseguido colocarse en el partido estelar, y con su victoria en el BMW Championship, se ha colocado en 2ª posición de la FedExCup.

Con la segunda victoria de Johnson de esta temporada, sumó su victoria 15, para un jugador de 20 años.

• Con esta victoria de su carrera, Johnson es el jugador, de hasta 20 años, que tiene más victorias, superando a Sean O’Hair, Camilo Villegas, Mahan Hunter y Anthony Kim, todos ellos con tres victorias.

Matt Kuchar, se mantiene como número 1 en la FedExCup, gracias a sus 11 top 10, y su 3ª clasificado en este BMW Championship.

Phil Mickelson, al terminar en 8ª posición en este BMW Championship, se ha colocado en la posición número 10 de la FedExCup, éste top 10, también supuso su mejor clasificación en un BBMW Championship, pues hasta ahora, la mejor clasificación había sido 17ª en la edición de 2008.

Tiger Woods, aunque ascendió desde la posición 51 a la 42, ha quedado fuera de la final de estos Play Off de la FedExCup.

En su décima participación en los Playoff, Woods tiene seis top 10 y tres

victorias. Su mejor resultado en 2010 en Los Playoffs fue el puesto 11, en el Deutsche Championship.

• A menos que Woods juegue y gane un evento de la serie de otoño o el evento WGC - HSBC Champions, no va a conseguir ninguna victoria en el PGA TOUR, por primera vez desde que comenzó su carrera en la PGA TOUR (14 años) , situación que se remonta a 1996 .

La primera edición oficiosa del Open de España, fue en el 1982, en el mítico campo de Valderrama, conocido entonces bajo el nombre de Las Aves, participando un total de 43 jugadoras, entre ellas las primeras clasificadas en la Orden del Merito Europeo.

Por entonces, nuestra mejor baza, era Marta Figueras-Dotti, con categoría amateur, y que en este Open, actúa como caddie de una de nuestras representantes, en concreto Tania Elosegui.

En aquella época, el montante en premios ascendía a 900 libras esterlinas, siendo la primera campeona, la norteamericana Rose Jones.

En esta ocasión, el premio para la ganadora asciende a 52.500 euros, del total de los 350.000 euros, que reparte esta edición, lo que coloca en segunda posición, tras el British, en cuantía de

premios, dentro del circuito europeo.

Esta edición se celebra en las instalaciones del Flamingos Golf Club, situado en plena Costa del Sol, en el término municipal de Benahavis, y dentro del complejo de Flamingos, inaugurado en 2001, un par 71, con un recorrido total de 5.996 yardas.

Este Open de España, significa una clara apuesta por parte del Patronato de Turismo de la Costa del Sol, a favor de este deporte, habiendo formalizado el compromiso con el Ladies European Tour, por los próximos cuatro años.

Esta apuesta, tiene un objetivo final, que es traer un evento deportivo como la Soldheim Cup, a la Costa del Sol, en el 2015.

Con una gran participación, y grandes estrellas, como Laura Davis, Nina Reis, Gustafsson, Cristina Kim, y el nutrido grupo de españolas, encabezadas por la rockie del año en el circuito americano, en éste, su primer año como profesional, Azahara Muñoz.

Primera jornada que ha deparado, que 40 jugadoras, se hayan situado bajo par del campo, un campo complejo, con estrechas calles, sobretodo en sus primeros 9 hoyos, que exige jugar muy recto y firme, y unos amplios y generosos greenes, que recibían perfectamente los impactos, quizás un poco lentos, pero en perfecto estado, para albergar una competición de este nivel.

Centrándonos ya en los resultados, nos ha sorprendido la actuación de Maria Hernández, con una vuelta de 7 golpes bajo par, en una jornada con 8 birdies y un solo lunar.

Custodiada en segunda posición por la veterana Laura Davis, a la que contemplan, nada más y nada menos

que 75 triunfos en su trayectoria profesional, única jugadora, por otra parte, que ha disputado como integrante del equipo europeo de la Solheim Cup, las once ediciones que de este evento se han disputado.

Empatadas con Laura Davis, en segunda posición, todas ellas con 6 bajo par, Carin Koch y Alison Walshe, seguidas de un nutrido grupo de cinco jugadoras, con 5 bajo par, en el que destacan la defensora del título, Becki Brewerton, Nina Reis, Caroline Masson, Verónica Zorzi y la malagueña Laura Cabanillas.

En cuanto a la actuación de Azahara Muñoz, la vuelta fue buena, terminando con 3 bajo par, aunque como ella misma reconocía al terminar, concluyó con la sensación de haberse dejado varios golpes en el campo.

La segunda jornada de este Open de España,

no ha podido celebrarse por causas climatológicas, las fuertes lluvias, en algunos momentos de forma torrencial, a pesar del microclima de estos parajes de la Costa del Sol, y lo más importante las diferentes tormentas con aparato eléctrico, han aconsejado a la LET (Ladies European Tour) y la Organización de este Abierto de España, la suspensión definitiva de la jornada.

El aplazamiento se mantuvo, hasta las doce del mediodía, momento en el que las previsiones meteorológicas, parecían concedernos un respiro, por eso se adoptó la decisión de reanudar el juego a partir de las 12.55, conociendo de antemano, la imposibilidad de celebrarse en su totalidad esta segunda jornada.

Pero, nuestro gozo duró poco, solamente unos cuarenta y cinco minutos.

Cuando el quinto partido, había salido desde el tee del 1 y del 10 respectivamente, y comenzaba su andadura, de nuevo una tromba de agua, provocada por una fuerte tormenta, acompañada por gran aparato eléctrico, hizo imposible mantener el juego, y tras un nuevo parón de aproximadamente 1 hora, se acordó la suspensión definitiva de la jornada.

Rumores, miles, acompañaban las horas de espera en la sala de prensa, unos decían que se iba a reducir a tres jornadas, otros que mañana sábado, se iban a jugar dos rondas, cosa que nos parece del todo imposible, pero doctores tiene la Iglesia.

Veremos cómo amanece el día de mañana y que el cielo, el clima, la temperatura y el buen juego, nos permitan disfrutar de unas jornadas, sean las que sean, de autentico golf de primer nivel mundial.

Buenísima noticia, Maria Hernández, sigue líder de la clasificación de este Open de España, y fuera de bromas, todas las favoritas y mejor clasificadas en el ranking, se encuentran en el

top 20, es decir, en plena lucha por el título.

Por fin volvió el tiempo, a ser normal en Andalucía,

y más concretamente en la Costa del Sol, y después de un viernes con una climatología infernal, para la práctica del golf, el cielo abrió, dando paso a las últimas jornadas de este Open de España femenino 2010.

Con un sol espléndido, bastante público, y un golf de primerísimo nivel por parte de las profesionales, que tras esta jornada ha colocado a la inglesa Laura Davies en el liderato del Open de España Femenino a falta de 18 hoyos para su conclusión, con las españolas Laura Cabanillas y María Hernández, sextas.

Por una parte cabe destacar, la actuación repleta de garra, de dos de nuestras representantes, Marina Arruti y Ana Belén Sánchez, cada una por diferentes motivos, pero acudieron a este Open de España, muy mermadas en sus posibilidades, debido sobre todo a su falta de ritmo de competición, no obstante su garra y su lucha, las tuvieron luchando con el

campo, apurando sus opciones hasta el final.

Pero la bomba informativa de esta Open de España, y más concretamente de esta jornada, fue el nombramiento de la golfista norteamericana Christina Kim como embajadora de la Candidatura española de la Costa del Sol a la Solheim Cup 2015, el torneo profesional femenino más importante del mundo que enfrenta, a imagen y semejanza de la Ryder Cup, a los equipos de Europa y Estados Unidos.

La gran esperanza, a priori, de la representación española Azahara Muñoz, mantuvo el tipo, clasificándose para la jornada final, pero muy alejada de los puestos de cabeza, que dan opciones al triunfo final, como ella misma nos comentaba, al acabar su vuelta:

Nos presentamos ante la última jornada de este Open de España Femenino, con dos dudas importantes a resolver.

Pues la verdad, es que tras los

primeros hoyos, de esta tercera y última jornada, parecía todo resuelto, Laura Davis, realizo dos birdies consecutivos, en los hoyos 1 y 2, que parecían darle la ventaja definitiva.

Su amiga y compañera de partido, Lisa Hall, se colocaba en segunda posición, y todo pintaba, como un autentico paseo para la Davis.

Y llegó el hoyo 13, maldito numero, dirían algunos, y Laura Davis manejaba una renta de cinco golpes de ventaja, cuando el milagro pareció producirse, mando su bola a una de las zonas complicadas, fuera de calle, en un montículo, con piedras, arbustos, tierra, es decir, muy complicada, pero la bola estaba perfectamente colocada.

Todos esperábamos que su experiencia salvara la situación, y ocurrió todo lo contrario, dio 2 golpes al aire, otro más para sacar la bola a la calle, y termino ese fatídico hoyo, con un cuádruple bogey, perdiendo de un plumazo 4 golpes de ventaja.

Pero, aunque los milagros existen, esta vez, no se terminó de producir, y sendos birdies en los hoyos 14 y 15 de esta magnífica jugadora, Laura Davis, aclararon la situación definitivamente, como un auténtico felino al acecho de su presa, y ésta no era otra que la conquista de este Open de España femenino 2010, nada menos que su título 76, de su dilatada carrera.

En cuanto a nuestra representante mejor clasificada, María Hernández, termino en quinta posición, lástima de un bogey en el hoyo 18, que en el caso de haber conseguido un birdie, la hubiera situado en segunda posición en solitario.

Se espera que Sergio García vuelva por fin a centrarse después de haber vivido en los últimos tiempos un cúmulo de emociones, controversias, estrés... de todo menos golf.

Día perfecto en el campo de La Coma en Borriol (Castellón) para comentar la victoria del Real Madrid contra el Milan o el tiempo que nos va acompañar todo el fin de semana. También para hablar, entre otros asuntos, de la situación de Joan Laporta, de tenis –por algo está aquí el número uno del mundo, Rafa Nadal– y, por supuesto, de golf. Y es que tenemos varias cosas que celebrar, como por ejemplo el regreso de Sergio García.

Vuelve el Niño, la eterna promesa española que se ha quedado a las puertas de hacer algo grande. Lo hace

en su casa y con gran expectación después de los dos acontecimientos que han marcado su devenir en los últimos meses: el anuncio de una posible retirada, primero, y su gran actuación como vicecapitán del equipo europeo en la Copa Ryder, después.

Este Castellón Masters Costa Azahar ha tenido varios puntos de interés. Uno de ellos lo ha protagonizado José María Olazábal –nuestro Chema–, quien ha vuelto a jugar después de haber estado un año entero en el dique seco por culpa de una lesión. Y lo ha hecho disputando los cuatro días de competición, los 72 hoyos. Otro era el verdadero estado de forma de Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño, que comenzó la tercera vuelta con un golf de altísimo nivel pero que no pudo concluirla de la misma forma, cayendo hasta la séptima posición con una diferencia de cinco golpes con respecto al líder, cuando toda la jornada había estado al frente de la clasificación... hasta el hoyo 12. También había interés en ver a Álvaro Velasco –ganador este año de dos pruebas del Challenge Tour–, quien se ha hecho un hueco entre los grandes y el año próximo jugará el Circuito Europeo.

Pero quizás el que menos esperábamos es el que se ha producido, la victoria de Matteo Manassero, que significa un nuevo récord en la carrera de este jovencísimo italiano, que viene irrumpiendo como un huracán en el mundo del golf profesional. Si el récord de un ganador de una prueba del circuito europeo lo ostentaba

nuestro Seve, cuando se impuso con 18 años, éste ha quedado derribado por el potrillo italiano. Manassero, a sus 17 años y 169 días, ha colocado el registro en un listón mucho más difícil. Pero en el golf, como en el resto de los deportes, los récords están para ser batidos.

En cuanto a la jornada de nuestros representantes, ha resultado muy desigual. Por una parte, un Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño que, bajo mi punto de vista, en el hoyo 10 de su recorrido tenía el cuerpo en Castellón y la mente y el espíritu en su casa. La verdad es que tiene que estar casi exhausto: es el profesional que más torneos ha disputado esta temporada y el físico comienza a pasar factura, pese a comentarnos que precisamente en los últimos hoyos ha sido cuando se ha encontrado más fresco. Lógico: la presión había desaparecido y entramos en un proceso de relajación, donde ha jugado mucho mejor.

Álvaro Velasco ha tenido un día absolutamente irregular, en el que todo lo que tenía que salir mal, salía mal, y pocas cosas han salido bien. No obstante, para esta nueva promesa –aunque ya es una realidad de nuestro golf– ha sido una semana realmente

dulce, interesante y muy formativa, tal y como él mismo nos indicaba.

La decepción vino de la mano de Chema Olazábal, después de aguantar las cuatro jornadas tras un año largo lesionado. Una vez se encontraba comiendo, se enteró de que había sido descalificado. Se había equivocado al firmar su tarjeta y, en vez de indicar en ella sendos dobles bogeys –en los hoyos 17 y 18–, firmó un doble bogey y un bogey. Fue también un error del marcador y Chema, que no se dio cuenta, fue lamentablemente descalificado.

Destacar la grandísima actuación de Carlos Suneson, que ha acabado en un octavo puesto que le da lugar a jugar el Andalucía Valderrama Masters la próxima semana. Y por supuesto, la de un Nacho Garrido que, tras superarse a sí mismo después de diferentes vicisitudes –por ejemplo, la situación del hoyo 10: su bola se quedó reposando, no ya en una chuleta, sino en un auténtico agujero, y a su pesar no pudo dropar sin penalidad–, ha acabado en segunda posición con un total de 12 bajo par. Y concluiremos con la actuación de un líder al acabar la tercera jornada, que aguantó la presión hasta el hoyo 14, pero que

a partir de ahí se hundió, de forma estrepitosa, quedando en tercer lugar a cinco golpes del vencedor.

La semana próxima llega Valderrama: campo emblemático, Masters importante y, seguramente, última prueba del circuito europeo, a partir del 2011, antes de la final de la Carrera a Dubai. El espectáculo está servido. Que comience la función porque el Andalucía Valderrama Masters nos espera.

El pasado día 16 de octubre, en las instalaciones del Parador de Golf de Málaga, se dieron cita más de 120

jugadores de golf amateur, en un día esplendido climatológicamente hablando, y mejor día de amistad y golf.

El Trofeo Catalana de Occidente, en su novena edición celebrada en Parador del Golf de Málaga, hay que recordar que en La Duquesa lleva ya 23 ediciones, mas las 2 celebradas en El Candado, ha conseguido asentarse

como uno de los Trofeos, más importantes del calendario golfístico amateur de la provincia de Málaga.

La prueba se disputó, en tres categorías, primera y segunda categoría de caballeros y una única de damas.

El próximo día 12 de diciembre, en el transcurso de un almuerzo, se llevará a cabo el acto de entrega de premios.

En las instalaciones de Baviera Golf, en una mañana preciosa para la práctica de este deporte, se dieron cita más de 80 jugadores y jugadoras, pertenecientes a la Asociación de Golfistas Senior de Andalucía ( ASGA), con su Presidente D. Francisco Cervilla al frente.

Durante la mañana se disputó, uno de sus tradicionales y periódicos torneos, pasando a continuación, en un gran ambiente de cordialidad, compañerismo y alegría, a disfrutar de una comida de hermanamiento, cuyo colofón fue el acto de entrega de premios.

Todos los participantes disfrutaron de un almuerzo, servido en el magnífico restaurante de Baviera Golf.

En una preciosa mañana, con un grandísimo fin benéfico, un numeroso grupo de profesionales y amateur de golf, con el malagueño Miguel Ángel Jiménez, a la cabeza, se dieron cita un año más, en las instalaciones del Club de Golf Guadalhorce, para celebrar la V edición del Trofeo Proyecto Hombre Miguel Ángel Jiménez.

Ilustres jugadores como Jose María Olazábal, Jose María Cañizares, Santi Luna, entre otros, junto a jóvenes jugadores, como Jose Manuel Lara, Alejandro y Gabriel Cañizares, Tomas Jesús Muñoz, Ana Belén Sánchez, Miriam Jiménez, Ricardo Gonzalez, Manuel Quirós, etc., se dieron cita, aun recién llegados la mayoría de ellos, de

disputar la edición del Castello Masters Costa de Azahar y junto con un nutrido grupo de jugadores amateur, salieron a este magnífico campo y disfrutaron de un maravillosos día de golf y solidaridad.

También estuvieron figuras, como Pepín Liria, torero, y habitual de este

Una vez concluido el torneo, se dieron todos ellos cita, alrededor de un coctel, que dio lugar a la entrega de premios amena y divertida.

En el inmejorable marco de Baviera Golf, con una excelente participación, como no podía ser de otra manera, se celebró, el pasado fin de semana el I Torneo de Golf Benéfico Colegio de Economistas de Málaga, a beneficio de la Fundación Luis Olivares.

El torneo se disputó bajo la modalidad individual stableford, en tres categorías indistintas.

Pero, contó además, con una acción solidaria, entre todos los participantes, que ha supuesto, una autentica novedad, en el mundo del golf amateur, y que viene a constatar, el apoyo absoluto y sin cortapisas, de los jugadores de golf, a iniciativas, como es este caso, que tan bien y elogiablemente desarrolla la Fundación Luis Olivares.

El Colegio Oficial de Economistas ha querido colaborar con Fundación Luis Olivares organizando su primer torneo de golf, donde destinarán todo lo recaudado a financiar, uno de nuestros proyectos más ambiciosos, la sala de padres de oncología pediátrica del hospital Materno Infantil de Málaga.

Los resultados, acompañaron al fantástico día de sol, golf, amistad,

cooperación y solidaridad.

En las instalaciones del Club de Golf Guadalhorce, ha tenido lugar la decimocuarta edición del Trofeo Ciudad de Málaga, edición que partía con un claro propósito, superar los 620 jugadores inscritos.

Pero al final no pudo ser, la fatal jornada climatológica del viernes, echó para atrás a bastantes jugadores que estaban pendientes de formalizar su inscripción.

El campo presentó una inmejorable imagen, con unas calles en perfecto estado y unos greenes, que están considerados de lo mejor de Europa.

Y en esta tesitura, después de tener que suspenderse la jornada del viernes, por las diferentes tormentas

y fuertes lluvias, la climatología dio paso a dos jornadas de un golf amateur espectacular, y a una nueva demostración de la profesionalidad de los componentes del equipo de Guadalhorce, que consiguieron sacar al campo en dos jornadas a todos los participantes, que en principio estaban encuadrados en 3 días.

El sábado 11 de septiembre se jugó en Valle Romano Golf la 6ª prueba de VII Circuito Promotur, con gran éxito de concurrencia de jugadores de toda la Costa del Sol.

El buen estado del campo permitió a los jugadores y jugadoras, disfrutar de un día de golf donde el protagonista no invitado fue el viento. La entrega de premios se realizó en la Casa Club de Valle Romano al terminar la competición.

Los ganadores fueron:

1º Darío Aguaron Peral con 38 puntos,

2º Andoni Basterrechea con 36 puntos y

3º Tomás Diez Vivas con 36 puntos.

Los premios especiales fueron, la Bola más cercana para Gonzalo Villalba, El Drive más largo femenino fue para Felicity Jordan y el masculino para Davide Giannoni.

Raquel Carriedo, la jugadora aragonesa que llegó a ser número uno de Europa en 2001 y abandonó la competición para formar una familia, ha ganado la sexta prueba del Banesto Tour que hoy ha finalizado en el Real Golf de Pedreña, con una segunda vuelta de 67 golpes y 6 bajo par en el total. Celine Palomar, que partía líder y hoy ha firmado 70, ha terminado segunda con un golpe más que la campeona.

Raquel se ha llevado el trofeo y el codiciado Jamón Osborne 5J como mejor española, y María Beautell ha dejado la bola a dos metros en el hoyo 15 para obtener el Premio Yo Dona,consistente en una estancia en Mallorca.

También ha habido otro Osborne 5J como premio muy especial a la castellonense Vanessa Vignali, que ha hecho un albatros en el hoyo nueve de Pedreña: “Pegué un Drive, que en principio pensé que era malo pero fue al centro de la calle; luego un hierro cinco desde unos 150 metros, cuesta arriba, que creí que había ido al búnker. Cuando me acerqué a buscar la bola y me dijeron que estaba en el hoyo, no me lo podía creer”.

Hemos quedado con Tomas Jesús Muñoz, jugador profesional, nacido en Málaga, con 39 años, y 18 de profesional.

Tomas, ¿cuántos años llevas como profesional?

Pues empecé en el mes de octubre, así que llevo ya 18 años, como profesional.

¿Cómo puedes definir, la trayectoria de tu carrera profesional, como jugador de golf?

Yo diría, que hasta el año 2005, muy

satisfactoria, y a partir de ahí y hasta el día de hoy, un poco frustrante.

La calificas, en este momento como frustrante, acláranos por qué.

Pues fundamentalmente, porque los resultados no están acompañando. Me ha costado mucho recuperar la ilusión, por volver a jugar. La realidad es que después de la operación del 2005, perdí mucho la ilusión de jugar.

En la primera fase de tu carrera, por calificarla de alguna forma, es decir, hasta 2005, ¿ Cuál ha sido tu mayor satisfacción?

Yo creo que fue, ganar el Challenge, en el Prat de Barcelona. Especialmente porque nadie contaba conmigo, y ya

ves, llegue, aparecí y al final, lo gane.

Tú que has vivido el mundo profesional, y podemos decir, que lo sigues viviendo, aunque como tu dices, un poco menos metido de lleno en él, sigues jugando tus torneos, el otro día, por ejemplo, te pudimos ver en Hacienda Riquelme, en Murcia, jugando el Campeonato de España de Profesionales.

El problema más grande es la falta de sponsor en este momento?

Es evidente, hay una crisis muy grande, a nivel nacional, europeo y mundial, y lógicamente hay recortes de todo tipo.

Teniendo en cuenta, que el golf lo consideran prácticamente un lujo, los recortes llegan con más fuerza.

La verdad, es que, cuando hablamos de golf, lo solemos hacer, siempre hablando de la élite, de ese conjunto de jugadores, que están en los medios de comunicación, pero hay una cantidad importante de jugadores, que podríamos decir, que se encuentran en un segundo plano, y de los que no sabemos, la cantidad de apuros que pasan, en el día a día?

Si claro, porque cuando ves los premios, que se reparten en el Tour Europeo o algún Grande, son unos premios tan grandes y llamativos, que piensan que todos ganamos lo mismo, y de verdad, no es así.

Cuesta mucho trabajo hacerse un hueco, verdad?

Muchísimo, no os podéis hacer una idea.

¿Cuál es tu objetivo profesional?

Intento divertirme jugando, pero la realidad es que sufres igual.

Bueno, cambiando de tema, y centrándonos en tu momento actual, en este momento estas dedicado a implantar la marca VASARI, de la cual eres el Delegado de Andalucía.

En estos momentos de crisis, debe de estarte constando mucho esfuerzo, hacerte un hueco.

Está costando, porque ahora mismo, las tiendas de golf, no están realizando muchas inversiones.

Es normal, hay poco movimiento en el mercado, con lo que intentan, salir adelante con lo justo, es normal.

VASARI es una marca que está empezando, aunque en Madrid y Barcelona, está funcionando muy bien, lo que nos queda es hacernos un hueco en el resto de España, aunque esta difícil, pero poco a poco, nos vamos abriendo un hueco.

El mayor problema, es que incluso las marcas de primer nivel, están utilizando mucho el depósito, precisamente por la falta de inversión, fundamentada en la poca rotación de productos.

Aparte de la representación de VASARI, en este momento, diriges el proshop de Guadalhorce. Al ser un club con muchos socios, que tal va funcionando la tienda?

Mira, no va mal. Vamos día a día,

y en los tiempos en los que estamos, que no hayamos cerrado y vayamos subsistiendo, pues es bueno.

Estamos en pleno apogeo de Torneos Profesionales de primer nivel en Andalucía, El Open de Andalucía, Open de España Femenino, Open Senior Benahavis, Volvo Mundial Match Play, Andalucía Valderrama Masters, y además este año el Open de España, en Sevilla.

No te parecen demasiados Abiertos?

No, es muy bueno, porque es promoción. Tiene una gran repercusión para toda la Costa del Sol, con lo que nos repercute de manera positiva a todos nosotros.

Lo que ves, es que son inversiones muy fuertes, y por ejemplo, poca o casi nada, sin ir más lejos, para el Campeonato de Profesionales de Andalucía, pues no tenemos patrocinadores, y estamos hablando, aproximadamente del 1% de cualquiera de estos presupuestos.

Andalucía logra tres subcampeonatos en los Interterritoriales Sub-25

Masculino, Cadete e Infantil.

Los equipos andaluces se quedaron a un paso de firmar un triplete histórico dentro del golf nacional.

Balance muy positivo para los tres equipos andaluces que han participado durante las últimas semanas en los Campeonatos Interterritoriales Cadete Masculino, Sub-25 Masculino e Infantil. En total, nuestros jugadores cosecharon tres subcampeonatos que vuelven a evidenciar el gran momento que vive el golf andaluz como referente a nivel nacional.

El primer subcampeonato fue el obtenido por el equipo cadete masculino en el campo zaragozano de Golf Los Lagos. Nuestro conjunto estuvo capitaneado por José Mateo e integrado por Mario Galiano Aguilar, Casto Gómez Ruiz, Carlos Segura Oliva y Víctor Pastor Rufián.

El cuadro andaluz se deshizo sin problemas de Asturias en cuartos y de Madrid en semifinales para plantarse en la gran final frente al máximo favorito al título, País Vasco. Ya en esta última ronda, los vascos desequilibraron el duelo en los enfrentamientos individuales y se impusieron por un claro 4-1.

Aún más cerca estuvo el título del Campeonato Interterritorial Sub-25

Masculino, “VI Memorial Santi Ollé”, celebrado en Alicante Golf. El sexteto andaluz, compuesto por Marcos Pastor Rufián, Francisco Mateo Ocaña, Scott William Fernández Salmón, Mario Galiano Aguilar, Carlos Segura Oliva y Oliver Mena Ruiz, bajo las órdenes de Salvador Tamayo, llegó a la final después de dejar en el camino a Castilla La Mancha y la Comunidad Valenciana.

En la final esperaba Cataluña para

protagonizar uno de los desenlaces más emocionantes y espectaculares en la historia reciente de esta competición. Así, se necesitó de un cuarto hoyo de play off del último match entre Gerard Piris y Marcos Pastor para decidir un campeonato que finalmente viajó a tierras catalanas.
