Mission Statement
‘A School with Heart’
Where we are inspiring, challenging and nurturing one another to:
…..live from the heart, love from the heart, learn from the heart
Dear Parents and Children,
It has been a relatively quiet week without the Year 5/6 children and we hear they are having a
great time on camp with Mr Galvin and Mrs Hannaford. In their absence the Year 4 children have
made excellent leaders and many thanks to all of the children.
Last Friday saw the whole school partake in an emergency evacuation drill. You will be pleased to
know the children were quick to move to a safe place and to listen to their teachers. This essential
drill is the second drill for the year and thank you to the children for their excellent co-operation.
We were fortunate this time to have a visit from the Braidwood Fire and Rescue who spoke about
fire safety and enabled the children to be familiar with their suits and the running of the hoses.
Kindergarten then attended a fire safety session. Fireman Brad and Fireman Steven reminded the
children to learn their address, the 000 number, the stop, drop and roll technique, to get down low
and go, go go and to decide upon a safe meeting point. A big thank you to Phil McGrath, Brad
Hewitt and Steven Hockey for helping us have a professional drill.
Well done to all the St Bede’s children who completed their soccer season. The trophies were
presented on the day. Children who were not present will receive their trophy tomorrow at the
morning assembly.
We wish you a safe and happy holiday and hope you are able to spend some memorable,
quality time with your children. On returning to school, the children love re-telling the stories of their
adventures whether they be from home or in new landscapes, I ask you to think about how you
can become a present character in the story your child tells of their term break.
Thank you to all the children of St. Bede’s for working hard to improve as learners and for making
St. Bede’s such a special place. Thanks to our staff for providing engaging and productive
activities for the children.

Congratulations to all those children who competed in the finals of soccer last weekend. The soccer club has requested that any soccer shirts that have not been returned are able to be dropped off at the office, please. Also any child who was not present on the day and missed out on receiving their trophy, will be presented with theirs at school tomorrow at morning assembly. Congratulation to Isabella Hindmarsh and Ryan Blowes who were voted the under 9 Boys and Girls champions for a great season of soccer and to Sarah Walker who scored the most goals.

Practice Communication Skills
Effective conflict resolution relies on clear
communication of feelings and wants. This can
be especially difficult when under pressure in a
conflict. Learning to speak clearly and
respectfully takes practice. You can help children
practise what to say to initiate conflict
resolution, for example, “if we talk about this, I’m
sure we can sort it out” Practising assertive ways
for children to express their wants and concerns is
also particularly helpful, for example, “I want you
to ask before using my things.”
Helpful Hints We have found a website (Raising Children Network) that may be of benefit to parents it covers issues like health, wellbeing and behaviour with information for different age groups of children http://raisingchildren.net.au/

Thank You
The school has received a thank note from the Bunn family. They have asked that we pass on their thanks for all the
support that has been shown to them over the past 6 weeks – here is a shortened version of their thank you.
We would like to offer our sincerest Thank you for all the prayers, love & support St Bede’s have given us over the last
six weeks and knowing our family & friends have been there made all the difference. Whether it be a phone call, text
or visiting Kelly in hospital, the offers of help, organising play-dates , cooking meals and even offering to take Richard
for a beer – has meant the world to us.
Amongst all this we were blessed with the safe arrival of Eden Noelle, who is absolutely gorgeous.
A very special mention goes to Year 3 who made so many “get well” cards and then created the most incredible
congratulations card. Thank you Year 3 – these will be always treasured.
We are honoured & blessed to have you in our lives.
