are not allowed to havemood swings; nor canthey afford to have a badday because all eyes areon them.

Im a certified Vodka Queen;I would rather be tipsy thanthirsty. Thirst is a dangerousthing. Fortunately, Ive neverfigured in a bar brawl. As I al-

ways say, I consume alcohol butI never let it consume me.

Ive seen worse scenarios

than the commotion that Billycaused in the police precinct.But he was man enough toapologize when he got back tohis senses. Perhaps it was justthe alcohol talking. Billy wasshaken but not stirred.

THERE are many learnings and realization inour recent participation in the just-concludedWorld Basketball Chmpionship in Spain.

One is that our love and pas-sion for basketball is not mis-placed as some would want to in-sist. Basketball remains the oneteam sport events that we canshare the world stage with the

very best as soccer is for manydeveloping countries in the world.

Another is that our quest forinternational basketball glory isnot really a quixotic one. Westuck out with some of the

worlds best and almost beatthem, losing by less than an av-erage of six points. We did bet-ter than Iran and South Korea

who lost most or all their games

via routs.Another is that we need more

exposure to gain the experiencenot only to compete but win athigh level. Its our relative inexpe-rience that did us in in the near-

won games against Croatia, Ar-gentina and Puerto Rico.

Another is that our brand ofbasketball is not that bad, infe-rior or flawed as some has beenclaiming. In fact, our basketballstyle is described as unique,blending the best features of

Asian ( accent on speed andhustle ) and European ( quick

ball movement and outside
