Appropriate technology of the city

Faced with various social and environmental problems, modern industrial cities are demanding new technical solutions in order to be transformed into sustainable cities. Sustainable cities are cities where people can live environmentally and socially healthy. In the meantime, we have only understood appropriate technology as a suitable technology for third world and rural areas. Can this appropriate technology be applied to modern industrialized cities? Will appropriate technology be a solution to the city's problems? What is the appropriate technology applied to modern cities so far? Despite the many modern industrial technologies, can appropriate technology be a solution to urban problems? We are facing these questions.

Technology is a physical tool to support human and environmental functions and solve problems. However, technology and sustainability have always been in conflict. Convenient and diverse industrial technologies have overwhelmed the city and caused various problems. Capitalized industrial technology overlooked non-profitable problems of cities. Often, industrialized technologies attempted to address the needs of various sites in a uniform way. As a result, industrial technological solutions to urban problems have often resulted in inappropriate or other problems. Many civic NGOs have resisted industrial technology. Despite the various industrial technologies that are overwhelming the city, for this reason appropriate technology is being sought. appropriate technology has not spread in the city in the meantime. What is the appropriate technology for a sustainable city?

We are concerned with the appropriate technology, the technology that can be applied to the local situation of the city, the technology with appropriate scale and control, the appropriate social and behavioral impact, Concentration, and technology that can be done in society. However, these standards alone can not socialize appropriate technologies in cities. We must first contact the community and listen to the problem in order to identify the problem of the city. In addition, it is necessary to combine appropriate technology which are out of the past appropriate technology with the recent makers movement, local community building efforts, and arts and cultural activities. Appropriate technology needs to be oriented towards technology that serves social innovation. Social innovation can be achieved through citizen participation in solving social problems. The appropriate technology should also be a technical project in which citizens participate.

적정기술은 제 3 세계 , 농촌지역에 적합한 기술로 이해되어 왔다 .과연 산업화된 현대 도시에서 적정기술은 가능할까 ?지금까지 현대도시에 적용된 적정기술은 무엇이 있을까 ?

현대 산업기술에도 불구하고 적정기술은 필요한가 ?

- 지속가능한 도시는 사람들이 환경적으로 , 사회적으로 건강하게 살 수 있는 도시- 기술은 인간과 환경적 기능을 보조하고 문제를 해결하기 위한 물리적 도구- 그러나 , 기술과 지속가능성은 줄곧 충돌해왔고 , 시민단체들은 기술에 저항했다 .- 도시에서 적정기술은 사회되지 못한 반면 , 편리한 산업기술이 압도하고 있다 . - 도시 문제의 산업 기술적 해결책은 종종 부적절하거나 다른 문제를 일으켰다 . - 자본화된 산업은 시장성 없는 문제 해결 과제를 간과한다 . - 산업화된 기술은 다양한 현장의 요구를 획일적 수단으로 해결하려 한다 .- 이런 이유로 다양한 산업적 기술에도 불구하고 적정기술은 필요하다 .

지속가능한 도시를 위한 적정기술은 무엇일까 ?

- 환경에 대한 영향이 없거나 낮은 기술- 도시의 지역적 상황에 적용가능한 기술 - 적절한규모와 제어가 가능한 기술 - 적절한 사회적 , 행동적 영향- 적절한 주의 집중 - 사회할 수 있는 기술

산업화된 도시에서 적정기술을 사회화하기 위해 먼저 ' 도시의 문제와 요구 ' 가 무엇인지 파악해야 한다 .

쓰레기 교통체증도시소음대기오염도시열섬 주거부담도시농사노후주택낡은 놀이터부족한 휴식............

책상 앞에서 도시 곳곳의 문제와 요구를 모두 파악할 수는 없다 .

- Refill, Respectacle, Rewire....도시에서 적정기술은 도시의 문제를 해결하기 위해 Recycling , Reuse, Up cycling 기술에 초점을 두게 될 것이다 . 더 나은 미래 공장 (Better Future Factory) 은 산업사회 폐기물로 쏟아지는 프라스틱을 모아 긴 통에 담은 후 전자레인지에 넣고 젓가락을 만들거나 , 프라스틱 칩을 빠니니 그릴에 녹여 판재를 만든 후 레이저 커팅해서 안경테를 만들거나 , 간단한 분쇄기와 용융사출기를 이용해서 3D 프린터를 위한 프라스틱 필라멘트 코일을 만드는 사례 , PET병으로 실을 만들어 직조를 하는 사례 등을 보여준다 .

사례 12: 적정기술 놀이터 - 시민참여로 주변의 재료들을 이용해서 만드는 놀이기구와 놀이터

사례 13 : 도시텃밭과 적정기술 (Dalston Eastern Curve Garden)

- 도시 텃밭 , 옥상정원은 단순한 도시 내 경작지가 아니라 지역사회 사교장소 , 레스토랑 , 카페 , 도시과수원 , 소규모 양조장 , 양계장 , 양봉장 , 놀이터 , 작업장으로 변신해나가고 있다 . 도시 텃밭은 도시 내 적정기술을 구현할 최적의 장소이기도 하다 .

사례 15 : 천연페인트 , 자연미장 2010. 12 국립환경과학원의 [ 대기배출원 관리 선진화 방안마련 연구 ] 에 따르면 VOCs 의 대기오염배출 기여율은 17% 나 된다 . 이미 한국에서도 화학도료 , 접착제 이용 사업장의 배출 조건을 강화하고 있는 추세이다 . 다만 생활영역에서 이용되는 화학도료와 접착제를 천연도료나 천연접착제로 대체할 필요가 있다 . 천연도료나 자연미장은 자가제작할 수 있다 . 적정기술로 풀어갈 수 있는 분야다 .

1995 년 프랑스에서 떼르에꼴은 흙페인트를 복원하고 확산하는 것을 목표로 설립되었다 . 현재 국내외 800 여 회원 가입

사례 16 : 의류재활용 , 접이식 강관 베틀티셔츠 한장을 만드는 데 필요한 에너지는 24MJ(1MJ 은 1 ton 물체를 160km/h 로 날려보낼 수 있는 에너지 ) 이다 . 영국인 1 년 평균 의류 폐기량은 30kg(티셔츠 175벌에 해당 ) 이므로 4200MJ 의 에너지가 소모되는 것임 . 의류의 재활용을 위한 기술과 도구의 개발 보급은 에너지 차원이나 쓰레기문제 , 환경 문제 해결에 중요 .
