Advantages
1. Combine sign language and intellectual thinking to better express their thoughts; and to help students to better understand the song lyrics.
2. The combination of song lyrics and sign language strengthens the memorization of the words and sentences
Limitations
• Some pupils have the misconception that sign languages are only for the verbally and hearing impaired
• Lack of sign language teachers
• Lack of curriculum time

Reflections• We got a chance to write a poem about
love, how we express it to others, and searched for photographs from the Sichuan earthquake to tell people to appreciate their loved ones before it is too late. Through these activities, we gained more wisdom and knowledge.
• The whole experience has taught me some valuable lessons and I hope the school will introduce this to more classes and levels for them to realize how fortunate we are to be in Singapore.

• When I was learning sign language, I gained extra knowledge. This knowledge was very useful for me as I did not know any hand signs beforehand.
• Learning the song and signs at the same time was fun and interesting; going to a sign language competition was also a good experience for me. I enjoyed learning those hand signs and feel that we should participate actively in these activities as they are quite meaningful.

Everyone has done one report about the earthquake. While doing our research, we learnt that a school collapsed there. A brave and noble teacher sacrificed herself to save a child trapped in the collapsing school. I was touched by her and wrote about her in my report.

After the series of activities, we learnt to be caring and to love one another. Our classmates displayed love and care for Jun Dong. Everyone wished him to get well soon as he was knocked by a car. I Wish that he would recover soon.

• I felt that this activity was very meaningful as it let us learn something new from it. I also felt that we had a great time gathering together for the teacher to explain the meaning of the songs to us and we could also share our ideas on some of the explanations.
