IT and technology, manufacturing and nancial services sectors.When asked whether their organisation has considered operating in eerging arkets,

49% of respondents (fro both developed and developing arkets – see below) said thewere currentl looking into it, while 38% alread operate in those arkets. Just 5% said thehad considered such a ove but decided against it. Those who alread operate in eergingarkets or are considering it plan to increase investent in those arkets b an average of 36% over the next ear. All respondents were asked which eerging arkets the are considering expanding

into. China, India, Brazil and Russia topped the list, in that order. When emerging market

respondents onl were asked which countries the felt offered the ost growth opportunities,the top three were the same, but Russia only ranked eighth, behind South Africa, Malaysia, Taiwan and the UAE. “Eerging arket operators don’t reall think uch beond China,India and Brazil,” Addepalli notes.

When asked what factors would prevent their organisation fro entering an eergingarket, four in 10 respondents said the lack of a reliable counications infrastructure.Onl political instabilit, corruption and econoic uncertaint ranked higher. And when asked what characteristics the look for in a telecos supplier, 54% said

‘reliabilit’, 34% ‘securit’, and 33% ‘experience across ultiple arkets’. “The want aprovider that has global presence,” sas Addepalli.

1,600 respondents from companies from the Middle East, South Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore, India,China, France, Germany, the US and the UK took part in the survey. Half came from emerging markets(dened as the Middle East, South Africa, India and China) and half from developed markets.
