MBS is a biological products. The functional bacteria are mixed with some kind of poison-free polymers at
proper ratio and fixed inside the web structure of polymer molecular chains by adding cross linking agents.
The polymer selected must possess high biological , chemical and mechanical stability.
The three dimensional nano-scale structure of polymer chain makes mass transfer easier between the bulk
liquid and the cells within it, which also facilitate the proliferation of
microbes and stimulation of their activity. In most cases, the pellets are
shaped into 3*3*3 mm3 pellets . The density of the pellets is similar to water.
Acclimated in ammonia wastewater, the nitrifier tend to be rich near the
surface of pellets and the denitrifier grow inside.
Now MBS has been successfully applied in not only high strength
ammonia and organic wastewater, but also micro-polluted water treatment.
