This melody by Spanish guitarist and priest, Gasper Sanz, was the inspiraOon for the second movement of Joaquín Rodrigo’s Fantasía para un gen-lhombre (1954). The melody appeared in “Instrucción de música sobre la guitarra española” by Sanz in 1674. Rodrigo named the second movement of his Fantasía “Españoleta y Fanfare de la caballería de Nápoles.”
