Mercedes-BenzThe Art of Lighting
As the biggest luxury automaker in the world, Mercedes-Benz always emphasize
photography in their commercials. Among the basic elements of a good photography,
lighting is the most emphasized by Mercedes-Benz. Their photographers have been
working hard on how to fully display the shape and the lines of the cars. Good
examples are the launch commercial for their X218 CLS Shooting Brake and W222
S-Class.

CadillacThe Pursue of Edges
Founded in 1902, American automaker Cadillac is one of the historic automaker
on the planet. To keep consumers aware of them in the 21st century, Cadillac came
up with the “Art and Science” design language, first seen on their Evoq concept car
released in 1999. Later in 2002, the first Cadillac production car with an edgy shape
like a diamond, CLS, was released. From then on, they have been trying to promote
their advanced design in their print ads.

VolvoThe Prevention of Emergency
Volvo C70 “Almost Completely Safe” commercial, 2006.
Emergencies are quite annoying for
people, especially when you are driving
a convertible. You may have already
been fed up with bees, bird droppings or
even UFOs. Well, this is good news for
you. As the commercials show, if you’re
in a Volvo C70, you will be safe under
those circumstances because it takes
shorter time to close the roof than you
would imagine. Clever, isn’t it?

Jaguar F-TypeIt’s Good to be Bad.
As F-Type Coupé was about to release in the US, Jaguar released a 60-second
commercial ‘Rendezvous’ for publication during Super Bowl 2014 as part of the
“British Villains” campaign. Featuring Sir Ben Kingsley, Tom Hiddleston and Mark
Strong who’d all starred in Hollywood movies as villains before, the commercial
was displaying the edgy side of the luxury brand. In the commercial, Mark Strong
was driving a F-Type, whom Tom Hiddleston was on a helicopter trying to chase
while Sir Ben Kingsley was in a house watching them through a computer. It was
then premiered on YouTube and has gained more than 16 million clicks now.
Kia SoulTotally Transformed.
‘Totally Transformed’ was released by Kia for their 2014 new model Soul. Unlike
many other car commercials, its main characters are three hamsters who were very fat
at the beginning and finally become fit and strong after various exercises. It is, in fact,
Kia’s imply for their greatly transformed new Soul.
ToyotaAdd Humor.
To promote their 2014 new Corolla, Toyota released a quite unique commercial called
Like You’ve Never Seen Before. All the facilities for shooting this ad is shown on it
including a GoPro camera on a Turtle. So in this video, not only can you see the car ad
itself, but also the way they filmed it. You’ve never seen anything like it before, right?
Toyota Hilux was proven
one of the toughest cars in the
world on British car show Top
Gear. So when Toyota tried to
promote the new 2012 model
in New Zealand, they tried to
emphasize its toughness. It’s
called Tougher Than You Can
Imagine. A man went through
almost all the toughest
environment on the planet in
his Hilux, seeing many
unbelievable things. It has a
quite funny ending. See it on
Toyota New Zealand’s official
channel on YouTube.
As usual, Toyota released a
funny commercial on 2013 Super
Bowl. This one is mainly about a
family met a woman who could
fulfil all their wishes after getting
a brand new 2013 Toyota RAV4.
Talking Squirrels can be seen on
this ad.
LamborghiniDisaster Film Fanatic.
In 2011, Lamborghini released their new V12 supercar Aventador which has a fairly
edgy design like other Lamborghini models. To display its enormous power and mad look,
Lamborghini released a commercial quite suitable for it. An Aventador was surging on the
road towards a tremendous storm. It didn’t stop in the end. Instead it went straight inside
the storm and did doughnuts, making a lot of dust and smoke. Got guts.
The Aventador commercial became quite successful. So in 2014 when Lamborghini
released a new supercar Huracán, they decided to use a similar idea. A storm was about
to come soon. At this point, a man was told to get out of the city as quick as possible. It
seemed like a mission impossible but luckily, he’d got a Huracán for it.
