DUA’A  AS-SIMAAT

 

It is recommended to recite this dua’a in the last hour before Mahgrib on Friday. Al-Majlisi says that most the pious religious scholars used to recite this dua'a.  It is  is narrated in Shaykh Tusi’s “Almusbah”, Sayyid ibna Tawus’s “Jamal Al-‘Usboo’a” and in Kafami’s books on the authority of Muhammad ibn Uthman Al-Umri,  the representative of Imam Sahibuz Zaman (aj) with reliable sanads. English Translation Transliteration

O’ Allah! I beseech You through Your Name, the great, the most great,

allahumma in-neee as aluka  bis-mikal-az’eemil-aa-z’ami إ�ن�ي م� ه� �للـ� ا

م�ك� �ب�اس أ�ل�ك� �س أ�

األ�ع�ظ�م� ال�ع�ظيم�the most majestic, the most magnificent and the most noble.

l-aa’z-zil aja lil ak-rami ل� األ�ج� األ�ع�ز�

م� األ�ك�ر�If You are requested therewith to open the closed doors of the sky these will open with Your mercy.

al-lad’ee id’aa due’eta bihi a’laa maghaaliqi ab-waabis-

samaa-lilil-fat-h’i bir’rah’ mati ka in fatah’at

If You are requested thereby to remove the narrowness of the doors of the earth, they will be opened wide.

If You are requested thereby to make easy the difficulty, it will be made easy.

wa id’aa due’eta bihi a’laal-u’s-ri lil-yus-ri tayas-sarat ب�ه� د�عيت� إ�ذا و�

If You are requested thereby to restore the dead to life, they will rise from their graves.

If You are requested thereby to remove misery and adversity, it will be removed.

wa id’aa due’eta bihi a’laa kash –fil-ba-saaa-i waz”-

z”ar-raaa-in-kashafatب�ه� د�عيت� إ�ذا و�

ف� �ك�ش ع�لى1اء� ر� و�الض� ال�ب�أساء�

، �ت ف� ان�ك�ش�I beseech You through the Majesty of Your person,

wa bijalaali waj-hikal-kareem ك� ه� �و�ج ب�ج�الل� و�

ال�ك�ريم�the Most Generous ak-ram-wujohi وه� ال�و�ج� م� أ�ك�ر�and the Most Honoured One,

wa aa’z-zil-wujooh وه� ال�و�ج� أ�ع�ز� و�before Whom everybody bows down in submission

al-lad’ee a’nat lahul-wujooh ل�ه� �ع�ن�ت ال�ذيوه� ال�و�ج�

and all necks bend down in reverence

wa khaz”aat lahur-riqaab الر� ل�ه� �ع�ت و�خ�ض��قاب�

and all voices become humbled

wa khashaa’t lahul-as’-waat ل�ه� �ع�ت و�خ�ش�وات� �ص

األ�and all hearts tremble; through His fear

wa wajilat lahul-quloobu mim-makhaafatika ل�ه� �ل�ت و�و�ج�

�ن م� ل�وب� ال�ق�، ت�ك� م�خاف�

and I beseech You through Your Might, which prevents the heaven from falling on the earth except with Your permission,

wa bi-qo-watikal-latee bihaa

tum-sikus-samaaa-a an taqaa’ a’laal-arz”i  il-laa

bid’nika

ب�ها ال�تي ت�ك� و� ب�ق� و�ماء� الس� ك� ت�م�س�

ع�ل�ى1 ع� ت�ق� � أ�ن ، ب�إ�ذ�ن�ك� إال� ض� �ر

األ�and which controls all the heavens and the earth so closely that they cannot move away from their positions;

wa tum-sikus-samaaati wal-ar-z”a an tazoolaa ك� ت�م�س� و�

ماوات� الس� �أ�ن ض� �ر

و�األ�وال، ت�ز�

and I beseech You through Your Will, which the whole world obeys,

wa bi-masheee-atikal-latee dal-lahaal-a’alamoon ال�تي ي�ت�ك� ب�م�ش� و�

ا ل�ه� دان�، ال�عال�م�ون�

and through Your Word. By which You have created the heaven and the earth,

wa bi-kalimatikal-latee  khalaq-ta bihaas-samaawaati

wal-arz”ال�تي ت�ك� ب�ك�ل�م� و�

ا ب�ه� ت� �ل�ق خ�ماوات� الس�، ض� �ر

و�األ�and through Your Wisdom, with which You have created the wonders,

wa bi-kalimatikal-latee  s’ana’-ta bihaal-a’jaaa-iba ال�تي ت�ك� ك�م� ب�ح� و�

ا ب�ه� ن�ع�ت� ص�ال�ع�جائ�ب�

and with which You created Darkness

wa khalaq-ta bihaaz’ z’ul-mata ا ب�ه� ت� �ل�ق و�خ�

and made it Night, wa jaa’l-tahaa laylan X ل�ي�ال ع�ل�ت�ها و�ج�and made night the time of quiet and rest;

wa jaa’l-tal-layla sakanaa الل�ي�ل� ع�ل�ت� و�ج�X ك�نا س�

and with which You created Light

wa khalaq-ta bihaan-noora النCور� ا ب�ه� ت� �ل�ق و�خ�and made it Day, wa jaa’l-tahu naharaa X ن�هارا ع�ل�ت�ه� و�ج�and made day the time of movement and observation;

wa jaa’l tan-nahaaara nushooraam-mub-s’iraa الن�هار� ع�ل�ت� و�ج�

،Xرا ب�ص� م� Xورا ن�ش�and with which You have created the Sun,

wa khalaq-ta bihaashamsa ا ب�ه� ت� �ل�ق و�خ�م�س� الش�

and made the sun gleam wa  jaa’l-tash-sham-sa z”i-yaaa-a م�س� الش� ع�ل�ت� و�ج�

،Xياء ض�And with which You have created the Moon,

wa khalaq-ta bihaal qamara ا ب�ه� ت� �ل�ق و�خ�ر� م� ال�ق�

and made the moon light;

wa jaa’l-tal-qamara nooraa ر� م� ال�ق� ع�ل�ت� و�ج�،Xن�ورا

and with which You have created heavenly bodies,

wa khalaq-ta bihaal-kawaakiba ا ب�ه� ت� �ل�ق و�خ�

ال�ك�واك�ب�and made them fixed stars and planets,

wa jaa’l tahaa nujoomaaw-wa buroojaaw- X وما ن�ج� ع�ل�ت�ها و�ج�

X وجا ب�ر� و�and lamps for guidance at night, and as a means of decoration, and missiles for driving away devils,

wa mas’aabeeh’a wa zeenataw-wa rujooma Xو�زين�ة و�م�صابيح�

،Xوما ج� و�ر�and have created for them east and west,

wa jaa’l-ta lahaa mashaariqa qa maghaarib ل�ها ع�ل�ت� و�ج�

و�م�غار�ب� م�شار�ق�

and have created for them the places of ascendancy and orbits,

wa jaa’l ta lahaa mat’aalia wa majaaree ل�ها ع�ل�ت� و�ج�

و�م�جار�ي، م�طال�ع�and created for them a firmament and sphere,

wa jaa’l ta lahaa falkaaw-wa masaabih’ X ل�كا ف� ل�ها ع�ل�ت� و�ج�

ح� و�م�سابـ�and fixed for them stages in the heaven

wa qad-dar-tahaa fis-samaaa-i manazila ف�ي ت�ها �د�ر و�ق�

ناز�ل� م� مآء� الس�and how beautiful the stages

faah’santa taq-deerahaaن�ت� س� �أ�ح ف�ها، دير� �ت�ق

and shaped the stars and how beautiful the shapes

wa s’aw-war-tahaa fa’ah’-santa tas’-weeraha ت�ها �ر و� و�ص�

ن�ت� س� �أ�ح ف�ها وير� �ت�ص

and made them stable through Your Name;

wa ah’ s’aytahaa bi-as-maaa-ika ih’s’aaa-aa ي�ت�ها ص� �أ�ح و�

Xصاء�إ�ح مائ�ك� �سب�أ�

and from Your Wisdom You designed a system for them

wa dab-bar-tahaa bi h’ik-matika tad-beeraa ت�ك� ك�م� ب�ح� ت�ها �د�ب�ر و�

X ت�د�بيراand what a good system, fa ah’-san-ta tad-beerahaa

ن�ت� س� � فأحها ت�د�بير�

and controlled the heavenly bodies through the king of the night

wa sakh-har-tahaa bi-sul-t’aanil-layli ت�ها �ر خ� و�س�

الل�ي�ل� ل�طان� ب�س�and the king of day, wa sul-taani-nahaari الن�هار� ل�طان� و�س�and through hours, making them a means for the reckoning of years and counting,

was-saaa’ati wa a’dadis sineena wal-h’saab و�ع�د�د� اعات� و�الس�

ـنين� الس�، ال�ح�ساب� و�

making appearance of heavenly bodies regular and universal.

wa jaa’l-ta ru-yatahaalijameei’n-naasi mar-

aaw-waah’idaaي�ت�ها �ؤ ر� ع�ل�ت� و�ج�

الن�اس� ميع� ل�ج� X دا واح� Xئى �م�ر

And I beseech You, O Allah, through Your Glory, with which You addressed Your slave and Your Messenger,

wa-as-alukallahumma bimaj- dika

al-lad’ee kal-lam-ta bihi a’ab-daka wa rasoolaka

م� الل�ه� أ�ل�ك� �سأ� و�

ال�ذي د�ك� � ب�م�جع�ب�د�ك� ب�ه� ك�ل�م�ت�

ول�ك� س� و�ر�Moses son of 'Imran peace be on him,

moosab-na i’m-raana a’layhis salaamu ب�ن� ى1 م�وس�

ع�ل�ي�ه� ع�م�ران�الم� الس�

while he was in the company of angels

fil-muwad-daseen د�سين� ال�م�ق� ف�يwhich address even the favourite cherubin could not ever hear,

faw-qa ih’-saasil karoobee-yeen إ�ح�ساس� و�ق� ف�

وبين� Cك�ر�الabove the clouds of light,

faw-qa ghamaaa-imin-noor النCور� غ�مائ�م� و�ق� ف�above the box of evidence,

faw-qa taabootish-shahaadah تاب�وت� و�ق� ف�هاد�ة� الش�

within the pillar of fire fee a’moodin-naari الن�ار� ع�م�ود� فيon Mount Sinai, wa fee t’oori saynaaa-a ي�ناء� س� ط�ور� و�فيand on Mount Hurith wa fee jabali h’ooreetha ب�ل� ج� و�في

وريث� ح�in the Holy Vale fil-waadeel-muqad-dasi ال�واد� ف�ي

د�س� ال�م�ق�in the sacred tract of land

fil-buq-a’til- mubaarakati ع�ة� �ال�ب�ق ف�يك�ة� بار� ال�م�

to the right of Taurus Mountain-through a tree;

min jaanibit’-tooril-aymani minash-shajarah الطCور� جان�ب� � م�ن

م�ن� األ�ي�م�ن�ة� ر� ج� الش�

and again addressed him on the soil of Egypt,

wa fee arz”i mis’ra ر� �م�ص ض� �رأ� و�في

after showing nine clear signs

bi-tis-i’aaa-yaatim bay-yinaat jآيات ع� � ب�ت�س، jب�ي�ـنات

and on the day You split the sea for the Children of Israel,

wa yaw-ma faraq-ta libaneee is-raaa-eelal-bah’r ت� �ق ر� ف� ي�و�م� و�

رآئيل� �إ�س ل�ب�نير� �ال�ب�ح

and caused springs to flow from a stone, thereby displaying wonders of Your might

wa fil-mum-bajisaatil-latee s’ana’-ta bihaal- a’jaaa-iba ن�ب�ج�سات� ال�م� و�ف�ي

ا ب�ه� ن�ع�ت� ص� ال�تيال�ع�جائ�ب�

in a deep sea; fee bah’-ri soof ، jوف س� ر� �ب�ح فيand on the day when You solidified the water of the sea in the midst of the storm,

wa a’qad-ta maaa-al-bah’ri fee qal-bil-gham-ri kal-

h’ijaaratiماء� د�ت� و�ع�ق�

ل�ب� ق� في ر� � ال�ب�حة�، جار� ك�ال�ح� ر� �ال�غ�م

and caused the Children of Israel to pass by it,

wa jaawazta bi-baneee is-raaa-eelal-bah’ra ب�ب�ني ت� � و�جاو�ز

ر� �ال�ب�ح رائيل� �إ�سand fulfilled Your excellent promises made to them because of their calmly endurance,

wa tammat kalimatukal- hus-naa a’layhim bimaa s’abaroo ت�ك� ك�ل�م� �ت�م�ت و�

�م ع�ل�ي�ه� نى1 � ال�ح�سوا ب�ر� ص� ب�ما

and made them the inheritors of the East and the West in the earth,

wa aw-rath-tahum-mashaariqal-ar-z”i wa 

maghaa ribaha�م ث�ت�ه� ر� �و

أ� و�ض� �ر

األ� م�شار�ق�ا و�م�غار�ب�ه�

wherein there are blessings for all the worlds;

al-latee baarak-ta feehaa lil-a’alameen فيها ك�ت� بار� ال�تي

، ل�ل�عال�مين�and You drowned Pharaoh and his armies and boats in the water.

wa agh-raq-ta fir-a’wna wa junoodahu wa maraakibahu

fil-yamع�و�ن� �ر ف� ق�ت� أ�غ�ر� و�

و�م�راك�ب�ه� ن�ود�ه� و�ج� ، ال�ي�م� ف�ي

And (I beseech You) through Your name, which is the most great,

wa bis-mikal-a’zeemil-aa’z’ami م�ك� �ب�اس و

األ�ع�ظ�م� ال�ع�ظيم�the most majestic, the most magnificent, the most noble;

al-aa’zil-ajal-lil-ak-ram ل� األ�ج� األ�ع�ز�

م� األ�ك�ر�and through Your glory, with which You revealed light to Moses, Your addressee, peace be on him, on Mount Sinai;

wa bimaj-dikal-lad’ee tajal-layta bihi li-moosaa kalemika

a’layhis-salaamu fee t’oori say-naaa-a

ال�ذي د�ك� �ب�م�ج و�ب�ه� ل�ي�ت� ت�ج�

ك�ليم�ك� ل�م�وسى1في الم� الس� ع�ل�ي�ه�

ي�ناء�، س� ط�ور�and earlier radiated the light for Abraham, Your sincere friend peace be on him, in the mosque of al-Khayf;

wa li-ibraaheema a’layhis-salaamu khaleeka min qab-lu

fee mas-jidil-kheefع�ل�ي�ه� و�إل�ب�راهيم�

ليل�ك� خ� الم� الس�في ب�ل� ق� � م�ن

، ي�ف� ال�خ� د� ج� �م�سand for Isaac, Your chosen Prophet, peace be on him, in the well of shiay',

wa li-is-h’aaqa s’afee-yika a’layhis-salaamu fee bi-ri

sheei’nحاق� � و�إل�س

and for Your Prophet Jacob, peace be on him, in Bayt iil

wa li-yaa’-qooba nabee-yika a’layhis-salaamu fee bayti eel ن�ب�ي�ـك� وب� ل�ي�ع�ق� و�

في الم� الس� ع�ل�ي�ه� ، jإ�يل ب�ي�ت�

and through Your Glory, with which You fulfilled Your promise to Abraham, peace be on him;

wa aw-fayta li-ib-riaheema a’layhis salaamu bi-

meethaaqikي�ت� و�ف�

أ� و�ع�ل�ي�ه� إل�ب�راهيم�

ب�ميثاق�ك� الم� الس�and through Your Oath in favour of Isaac;

wa lis-h’aaqa- bih’il-fik ك� ل�ف� ب�ح� حاق� �و�إل�سand through Your witnessing favouring Jacob;

wa li-yaa’qooba bishahadatikوب� ل�ي�ع�ق� و�هاد�ت�ك� ب�ش�

and through the fulfillments of Your promise to the faithful:

wa lil-mu-mineena biwa’-dika

نين� ؤ�م� ل�ل�م� و�ب�و�ع�د�ك�

and through Your Names with which You accepted the prayers of supplications;

wa lid-daae’ena bi-as-maaa-ika fajaab-t ل�لد�اعين� و�

مائ�ك� �س ب�أ�

، ب�ت� أ�ج� ف�and through Your Glory, which appeared to Moses, son of Imran, peace be upon him

wa bi-maj-dikal-lad’ee z’ahara li-moosaa ibni i’m-

raana a’layhis-salaamuال�ذي د�ك� �ب�م�ج و�

ب�ن� ى1 ل�م�وس� ر� ظ�ه�ع�ل�ي�ه� ع�م�ران�الم� الس�

in Qubbat al-Rumman; a’laa qub-batir-rummaan ان� م� Cالر ب�ة� ق� ع�لى1and through Your Signs, which appeared on the soil of Egypt

wa biaaa-yaatikal-latee waqaat a’laaa ar-z”i mis-ra ال�تي ب�ايات�ك� و�

ض� �رأ� ع�لى1 �ع�ت و�ق�

ر� �م�صwith great might and victory,

bi-maj-di  l-i’z-zati wal-ghalabati ة� ال�ع�ز� د� � ب�م�ج

ال�غ�ل�ب�ة� و�

with powerful signs biaaa-yaatin a’zeezah jة ع�زيز� jب�آياتand with the display of full command

wa bi-sul-t’aanil-qoo-wah ة� و� ال�ق� ل�طان� ب�س� و�and great power; wa bi-i’z-zatil-qud-rah ة� د�ر� ال�ق� ة� ب�ع�ز� و�and with the affair of the perfect word;

wa bi-sha-nil-kalimatit-taaa-mmah ة� ال�ك�ل�م� ن�

�أ ب�ش� و�ة�، الت�ام�

and with Your words with which You do a favour for the people of the heavens and the earth

wa bi-kalmaatikal-latee tafaz”-z”al-ta bihaa a’laaa

ahlis- samaawaati wal-ar-z”iال�تي ب�ك�ل�مات�ك� و�

ع�لى1 ب�ها ل�ت� ض� ت�ف�ماوات� الس� أ�ه�ل�

ض� �رو�األ�

and the people of this world and the hereafter;

wa ahlid-dun-yaa wa ah-lil-aa-khirah الدCن�يا أ�ه�ل� و�

ة�، ر� اآلخ� أ�ه�ل� و�and through Your Mercy with which You bestow upon all Your creatures:

wa bi-rah’-matikal-latee manan-ta bihaa a’laa jameei’

khal-qikال�تي ت�ك� م� �ح ب�ر� و�

ع�لى1 ب�ها ن�ن�ت� م� ، ك� ل�ق� خ� ميع� ج�

and through Your Power with which You dominate the worlds;

wa bis –tit’aaa’tikal-latee aqam-ta bihaa a’laal-

a’alameen

ت�طاع�ت�ك� �ب�اس و�ب�ها م�ت� أ�ق� ال�تي

، ال�عال�مين� ع�ل�ى1and (I beseech You) through Your Light, through fear of which Mount Sinai collapsed,

wa bi-noorikal-lad’ee qad khar-ra min fazai’hi thooru

saynaaa-a �د ق� ال�ذي ب�ن�ور�ك� و�

ه� ع� ز� ف� �م�ن ر� خ�ي�ناء�، س� ط�ور�

through Your Knowledge, and Your Greatness and Majesty, and Your Unique Magnificence and Your Honour and (through) Your might,

wa bi-i’l-mika wa jalaalika wa kib-ri- yaaa-ika wa i’z-

zatik

wa jabarootika

الل�ك� و�ج� ب�ع�ل�م�ك� و�و� ك�ب�ر�يائ�ك� و�

وت�ك� ب�ر� و�ج� ت�ك� ز� ع�

which the earth could not bear,

al-latee lam tas-taqil-laahaal-araz” ا ل�ه� ت�ق� �ت�س �ل�م ال�تي

ض� �راأل�

and, for which the heavens bent down,

wan-khafaz”at lahas-samaawaat ا ل�ه� �ت ض� ف� ان�خ� و�

ماوات� الس�and the great depths restrained themselves,

wanzajara lahaal-u’m-qul-ak-bar ا ل�ه� ر� ج� ان�ز� و�

، األ�ك�ب�ر� ال�ع�م�ق�and the seas and rivers became stable,

wa rakadat lhaaal-bih’aaru wal-an-haar ا ل�ه� �ك�د�ت و�ر�

، و�األ�ن�هار� ال�ب�حار�and to which the mountains made submission,

wa khaz”aat lahaal-jibaal ا ل�ه� �ع�ت خ�ض� و�بال� ال�ج�

and due to which the earth became firm on its shoulders,

wa sakanat lahaaal-ar-z”u bi-manaakibihaa ا ل�ه� �ك�ن�ت و�س�

ناك�ب�ها، ب�م� ض� �راأل�

and to which all creatures submitted,

was-tas-lamat lahaal-khalaaa-iqu kul-luhaa ا ل�ه� �ل�م�ت �ت�س � و�اس

ك�لCها، الئ�ق� ال�خ�and due to which the winds breathed,

wa khafaqat lahaar-riyaah’u fee jarayaanihaa الر� ا ل�ه� �ت ق� ف� و�خ�

يان�ها، ر� ج� في �ياح�and the flaming fires were extinguished in their places.

wa khamadat lahaan-neeraanu fee aw-taanihaa ا ل�ه� �د�ت م� و�خ�

في الن�يران�و�طان�ها،

أ�And I beseech You through Your might, through which You have been known to be All-powerful for ever and ever,

wu bisul-t’aanikal-lad’ee u’rifat laka bihal-ghalabatu

and for which You have been praised in the heavens and the earth;

wa h’umid-ta bihi fis samaawaati wal-araz”een ف�ي ب�ه� د�ت� م� و�ح�

ماوات� الس�، ضين� ر�

و�األ�and I beseech You through Your word, the Word of Truth, which became a blessing for our father Adam and his generation;

wa bikalimatika kalimatis’s’id-qil-latee

sabaqat li-abeenaaa aaa-dama a’layhis-salaamu wa

d’ur-ree yatihu bir-rah’-mah

ة� ك�ل�م� ت�ك� ب�ك�ل�م� و�ال�تي ـد�ق� الص�

آد�م� أل�بينا �ت ب�ق� س�ذ�ر� و� الم� الس� ع�ل�ي�ه�

ة� م� �ح ب�الر� �ي�ت�ه�and I beseech You through Your word, by which You overcame everything;

wa as-aluka bi-kalimatikal-latee ghalabat kul-laa shay ت�ك� ب�ك�ل�م� أ�ل�ك� �س

أ� و�ك�ل� �غ�ل�ب�ت ال�تي

،jء �ي ش�and I beseech You through the light of Your Face, which when it flased on Mount Sinai

wa bi-noori waj-hikal-lad’ee tajal-layta bihi lil-jabali ك� ه� �و�ج ب�ن�ور� و�

ب�ه� ل�ي�ت� ت�ج� ال�ذيب�ل� ل�ل�ج�

crushed it to pieces, fajaa’l –tahu dak-kaa X د�ك�ا ع�ل�ت�ه� ج� ف�whereby Moses fainted and fell down,

wa khar-ra moosaa s’ai’qaa م�وسى1 ر� و�خ�،Xع�قا ص�

and through Your Glory, which appeared on Mount Sinai,

wa bimaj-dikal-lad’ee z’hara a’laa toori say-naaa-a ال�ذي د�ك� �ب�م�ج و�

ط�ور� ع�لى1 ر� ظ�ه�ي�ناء� س�

and through which You addressed Your slave and Your Mesenger; Moses, son of 'Imran,

fakal-lam-ta bihi a’ab-daka wa rasoolaka moosaabina

and through Your appearance in Sa'ir

wa bit’al-atika fee saae’er في ب�ط�ل�ع�ت�ك� و�ساعير�

and on Mount Faran wa z’uhoorika fee jabali faaraana في ور�ك� و�ظ�ه�

فاران� ب�ل� ج�near Rabawat, which are clean and holy places,

bi-rabawaatil-muqad-daseena ب�وات� ب�ر�د�سين� ال�م�ق�

when troops of heavenly angels were in rows,

wa junoodil-malaaa-ikatis-s’aaa-f-feen ال�م�الئ�ك�ة� ن�ود� و�ج�

ين� اف� الص�and with the submissiveness of the angels praising You,

wa khushooi’l-malaaa-ikatil-musab-bih’een ال�م�الئ�ك�ة� وع� و�خ�ش�

، ب�ـحين� ال�م�س�and with Your blessings with which You honoured Abraham, Your sincere friend, peace be upon him,

wa bi-barakaatikal-latee baarak-ta  feeha a'laa

ibraheema khaleelika a'layhis sallam

ال�تي كات�ك� ب�ب�ر� و�ع�لى1 فيها ك�ت� بار�

ليل�ك� خ� �ب�راهيم� إالم� الس� ع�ل�ي�ه�

among the followers of Muhammad, Your blessings be upon him and his Progeny

fee ummati muh’ammadin s’al-laallahu a’ilayhi wa aa-

lih jد م� م�ح� ة� م�

أ� فيع�ل�ي�ه� الله� ل�ى1 ص�

آل�ه�، و�and You honoured Isaac, Your chosen prophet,

wa baarak-ta li-is’haaqa s'afiyyika حاق� �إل�س ك�ت� و�بار�

ي�ـك� ف� ص�among the followers of Jesus, peace be on them both,

fee ummati e'essa a’lay-himaas-salaam عيسى1 م�ة�

أ� في ، الم� الس� ا م� ع�ل�ي�ه�

and honoured Jacob, Your favoured slave,

wa baarak-ta li-yaa’qooba is-raaa-eelika وب� ل�ي�ع�ق� ك�ت� و�بار�

رائيل�ك� �إ�سamong the followers of Moses, peace be on them both,

fee ummati moosaa a’lay-himaas-salaam م�وسى1 ة� م�

أ� في ، الم� الس� ا م� ع�ل�ي�ه�

and honoured Your intimate friend Muhammad, may the blessings of Allah be upon him and his Progeny,

wa baarak-ta lih’abeebika muh’ammadin s’al-laallahu

a’alihi wa aa-lihiبيب�ك� ل�ح� ك�ت� و�بار�

الله� ل�ى1 ص� jد م� م�ح�آل�ه� و� ع�ل�ي�ه�

among his offspring and progeny, and his followers

fee i’t-ratihi wa d’ur-ree-yathi wa ummatih ذ�ر� و� ت�ه� ت�ر� ع� في

ت�ه�، م�أ� و� �ي�ت�ه�

O Allah! Just as were absent and didn’t witness these manifestations of Your glory,

alllahumma wa kamaa ghib-naa a’n d’aalika wa lam

nash-had-huب�نا غ� و�ك�ما م� ه� �للـ� ا

ذ �ل�م� 1ع�ن و� ل�ك�د�ه� ه� �ن�ش

yet we believed in their truth and justice, without having been eyewitnesses,

wa aaa-man-naa bihi wa lam narahu s’id-qaaaw-wa a’d-

laaه� ن�ر� �ل�م و� ب�ه� ن�ا و�آم�

X و�ع�د�ال Xقا�د ص�So we beseech You to send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad,

an tus’al-liya a’laa muh’ammadiw-wa aa-li

muh’ammadinع�لى1 ل�ـي� ت�ص� � أ�ن jد م� م�ح� و�آل� jد م� م�ح�

and honour Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhamamad,

wa an tubaarika a’laa muh’ammadin-wa aa-li

muh’ammadinع�لى1 ت�بار�ك� �أ�ن و� jد م� م�ح� و�آل� jد م� م�ح�

and have mercy on Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad,

wa tarah'amma a’laa muh’ammadin-wa aa-li

muh’ammadinع�لى1 م� ح� ت�ر� و�

jد م� م�ح� و�آل� jد م� م�ح�with the blessings, honour, and mercy

kaaf-z”ali maa s’al-layta wa baarak-ta wa tarah’-h’am-ta ل�ي�ت� ص� ما ل� ك�أ�ف�ض�

ك�ت� و�بار�م�ت� ح� ت�ر� و�

you sent and bestowed on Abraham and the progeny of Abraham.

a’laaa ib-raaheema wa aa-li ib raheem �ب�راهيم� إ ع�لى1

�ب�راهيم� إ و�آل�Surely You are Praiseworthy, Glorious,

in-naka h’ameedum-majeed wم�جيد wميد ح� �ن�ك� إthe Doer of what You will.

You are Powerful over all things

wa anta a’laa kul-li shay-in qadeerun ك�ل� ع�لى1 �ن�ت� أ و�

wدير ق� jء �ي ش� 

Now one should express his legitimate desire and beseech Allah to fulfill it, then recite the following:

 

English Translation Transliteration

O’ Allah ya allahu ا�لله� يا

O’ Compassionate, O’ Kind ya hannanu ya mannanu ن�ان� م� يا ن�ان� ح� يا

O’ Original Designer of Heavens and Earth

ya badee'us samawati wal arzi ماوات� الس� ب�ديع� يا، و�األ�رض�

O’ Lord of Glory and Honour ya 'thal jalali wal ikrami الل� ال�ج� ذ�ا ياو�اإل�ك�رام�،

O’ most Merciful of all the merciful

 yaaa ar-h’amar-raah’imeena مين� اح� الر� م� ح� �رأ� يا

O’ Allah, for the sake of this prayer,

allahuma bih’aq-qi had’aad-dua’aaa-i

ه ق� ب�ح� م� ه� �للـ� ذ�ا1االدCعاء�،

and for the sake of these Names wa bih’aq-qi had’iheel-as-maaa-i

ه ق� ب�ح� ذ�ه�1و�ماء� �األ�س

which no one can interpret, il-latee laa yaa’-lamu taf-seerahaa

ي�ع�ل�م� ال ال�تيها ت�ف�سير�

the inner meaning of which no one other than Yourself knows.

wa-laa yaa’-lamu baat’inahaa ghayruk

باط�ن�ها ي�ع�ل�م� و�الك� غ�ي�ر�

Send Your blessing upon Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad;

s’al-li a’laa muh’ammadin wa aa-li muh’ammadin

jد م� ح� م� ع�لى1 ل� ص� jد م� ح� م� و�آل�

and do to me what suits You waf-a’l bee maa anta ah-luh �ن�ت� أ ما بي �ع�ل � و�افل�ه�، �أ�ه

and do not do to me what I deserve

wa-laa taf-a’l bee ana ah-luhu ما بي �ع�ل �ت�ف و�الل�ه� �أ�ه �ن�ا أ

and forgive my sins wagh-fir lee min d’unoobee �ن م� لي �ر و�اغ�ف�ذ�ن�وبي

past and future, maa taqad-dama minhaa wa maa taakh-hara

و�ما ن�ها م� د�م� ت�ق� ما، ر� ت�أ�خ�

and increase Your lawful sustenance for me,

wa was-sia’ a’lay-ya min h’alaali rizqik

�ن م� ع�ل�ي� �ـع و�و�س�ق�ك� �ر�ز ح�الل�

and save me from the help of wicked men,

wak-finee maoonata in-saani saw-in

ن�ة� ؤ� م� ني اك�ف� و� ،jء �و س� إ�ن�سان�

wicked neighbours, wa jari saw-in jء �و س� و�جار�

wicked companions, wa qareeni saw-in- jء �و س� و�ق�رين�

and wicked rulers wa sul-taani saw-in ،jء �و س� ل�طان� و�س�

Verily You are able to do whatever You will,

in-naka a’laa maa tashaaa-u qadeerun

ت�شاء� ما ع�لى1 �ن�ك� إwدير ق�

and You know everything. wa bikul-li shay-in a’leemun jء �ي ش� ب�ك�ل� و�wع�ليم

Amen, O Lord of the worlds. aa-meen rab- bal-a’alameen ب� ر� آمين�ال�عال�مين� .

Al-Majlasi narrated from Sayed Ibn Baqi’s ‘Almusbah’ that one should say after reciting Dua’a As-Simat:

English Translation Transliteration

O’ Allah For the sake of this prayer,

allahuma bih’aq-qi had’aad-dua’aaa-i

ه ق� ب�ح� م� ه� �للـ� ذ�ا1االدCعاء�

and for the sake of these Names

wa bih’aq-qi had’iheel-as-maaa-i

ه ق� ب�ح� ذ�ه�1و�ماء� �األ�س

which no one can interpret, il-latee  laa yaa’-lamu taf-seerahaa wa-laa ta-weelahaa

ي�ع�ل�م� ال ال�تيو�ال ها ت�ف�سير�

the inner and outer meaning of which no one other than Your self knows.

wa-laa yaa’-lamu baat’inahaa wa-laa z’aahirahaa ghayruk

و�ال باط�ن�ها و�الك� غ�ي�ر� ها ظاه�ر�

Send Your blessing upon Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad;

an tus’al-li a’laa muh’ammadin wa aa-li muh’ammad

ع�لى1 ل�ـي� ت�ص� � أ�ن jد م� ح� م� و�آل� jد م� ح� م�

and give me the good of this world and the hereafter;

wa an tarzuqanee  khayrad-dun-yaa wal-aa-khirah

ي�ر� خ� ق�ني ز� �ت�ر �أ�ن و�ة� ر� و�اآلخ� الدCن�يا

and do to me what suits You waf-a’l bee maa anta ah-luh �ن�ت� أ ما بي �ع�ل � و�افل�ه� �أ�ه

and do not do to me what I deserve

wa-laa taf-a’l bee ana ah-luhu ما بي �ع�ل �ت�ف و�الل�ه�، �أ�ه أ�نـا

and exact vengeance from … wan-taqim lee min .... �ن م� لي �م �نت�ق� ا و�

Name your enemy then say:

and forgive my sins wagh-fir lee min d’unoobee

ذ�ن�وبي �م�ن لي �ر و�اغ�ف�

past and future, maa taqad-dama minhaa wa maa taakh-hara

و�ما ن�ها م� د�م� ت�ق� ما، ر� ت�أ�خ�

and forgive my parents wa li-wwaaliday-ya ل�وال�د�ي� و�

and all faithful men and women,

wa li-jameei’l-mu-mineena wal-mu-minaat

نين� ؤ�م� ال�م� ميع� ل�ج� و�، ؤ�م�نات� ال�م� و�

and increase Your lawful sustenance for me,

wa was-sia’ a’lay-ya min h’alaali rizqik

الل� ح� �م�ن ع�ل�ي� �ـع و�و�س�ق�ك� �ر�ز

and save me from the help of wicked men,

wak-finee maoonata in-saani saw-in

and evil days wa yaw-mi saw-in- ،jء �و س� ي�و�م� و�

And evil hours, wa saaa’ti saw-in ،jء �و س� و�ساع�ة�

and exact vengeance for me on everyone who hatches secret plots against me,

wan-taqim lee mimmay-yakeedunee

�م�ن م� لي �م ان�ت�ق� و�ي�كيد�ني

and on everyone who oppresses me

wa mimmay-yab-ghee a’lay ya

ع�ل�ي� ي�ب�غي �م�ن و�م�

and seeks to do to me or my family

wa yureed bee wa bi-ah-lee

ب�أ�ه�لي و� بي ي�ريد� و�

or my children or my brothers wa aw-laadee wa ikh-waanee

واني �إ�خ و� و�الديأ� و�

or my neighbours or my relations among faithful men and women.

wa jeeraanee wa qaraabaatee minal-mu-

mineena wal-mu-minaati

راباتي و�ق� و�جيرانينين� ؤ�م� ال�م� م�ن�

ؤ�م�نات ال�م� �و�(seeks to do) injustice z’ul-maan ا Xم�ظ�ل

Verily You are able to do whatever You will,

in-naka a’laa maa tashaaa-u qadeerun

ت�شاء� ما ع�لى1 �ن�ك� Xإwدير ق�

and You know everything. wa bikul-li shay-in a’leemun

wع�ليم jء �ي ش� ب�ك�ل� و�

Amen, O Lord of the worlds. aa-meen rab- bal-a’alameen

ال�عال�مين� ب� ر� آمين�

O Allah! For the sake of this prayer,

allahumma bih’aq-qi had’aad-dua’aaa-i

ه ق� ب�ح� م� ه� �للـ� ذ�ا1االدCعاء�

grant wealth and affluence to indigent faithful men and women,

tafaz”-z” al a’laa fuqaraaa-il-mumineena

wal-muyminaati bil-ghinaa wath-thar-wah

راء� ق� ف� ع�لى1 �ل ض� ت�ف�نات� ؤ�م� ال�م� و� ؤ�م�نين� ال�م�

و�ة�، �الث�ر و� ب�ال�غ�نى1and recovery and sound health to the sick faithful men and women,

wa a’laa mar-z”aal –mu-mineena wal-muyminaati

bish-shifaaa-i was’sih’h’ah

ى1 ض� �ر م� و�ع�لى1نات� ؤ�م� ال�م� و� ؤ�م�نين� ال�م�ة�، ـح� و�الص� ـفاء� ب�الش�

and bliss and clemency to the living faithful men and women,

wa a’laa ah’yaaa-il-mumineena wal-

muyminaati bil-lutfi wal-karaamah

نين� ؤ�م� ال�م� ياء� �أ�ح و�ع�لى1ب�اللCط�ف� نات� ؤ�م� ال�م� و�

ة�، ال�ك�رام� و�and remit the sins of, and have mercy on, the deceased faithful men and women,

wa a’laa am-waatil-mu-mumineea wal-

muyminaati  bil-magh-firati war-rah’-mah

م�وات� أ� و�ع�لى1

نات� ؤ�م� ال�م� و� ؤ�م�نين� ال�م�ة�، م� �ح الر� و� ة� ر� غ�ف� ب�ال�م�

and arrange the return home of all faithful travellers with safety and gain.

wa a’laa musaafireel-mumineena wal-mu-

minaati bir-rad-di ilaaa aw-t’aanihim saalimeena

ghaanimeena

م�ساف�ر�ي و�ع�لى1نات� ؤ�م� ال�م� و� ؤ�م�نين� ال�م� �م و�طان�ه�

أ� إ�لى1 د� ب�الر�غان�مين� سال�مين�

Through Your mercy, O Most Merciful of all the merciful.

bi-rah’-matika yaaa ar-h’amar-raah’imeena

م� ح� �رأ� يا ت�ك� م� �ح ب�ر�

مين� اح� الر�May Allah's blessings be upon our master Muhammad, the seal of the prophets,

wa s’al-laallahu a’laa say-yidinaa

muh’ammadin khatamin-nabee-yeena

ع�لى1 الله� ل�ى1 و�ص�خات�م� jد م� ح� م� ي�ـد�نا س�

الن�ب�ي�ين�and his Progeny, the purified. wa i’t-ratihit-taahireena الط�اه�رين� ت�ه� ت�ر� و�ع�

and His peace be upon them plentifully

wasal-lama tas-leeman katheeraa

X ك�ثيرا Xليما �ت�س ل�م� و�س�

Sheikh Ibn Fahad narrates that it is recommended after reciting Dua’a As-Simat to recite the following:

Allahuma innee as'aluka bih'urmati  had’aad-dua’aaa-i

ه م�ة� �ر الدCعاء� 1ب�ح� ذ�اand what was mentioned in it from names

wa bima faat minhu minal asmaa'

ن� م� ن�ه� م� فات� ب�ما و�ماء� �األ�س

and what it contains from meanings and design

wa biba yashtamilu a'layhee minal tafseeri wat-tadbeeri

ع�ل�ي�ه� ت�م�ل� �ي�ش ب�ما و�سير� �الت�ف م�ن�

which none other than You comprehend fully

al-lathee la yuheetu bihi illa anta

� إ�ال ب�ه� الي�حيط� ال�ذي�ن�ت� أ

that you do to me … an taf'ala bee بي .... ع�ل� �ت�ف �أ�ن

and mention your legitimate desires

Just before sunset when Friday is getting over say "Subhaanaka laa ilaaha illaa anta yaa hannaanu yaa mannaanu yaa badeeussamaawaati wal arz yaa dal jalaali wal ikraam "

Shaykh al-±£s¢ has mentioned that the last hour of Friday, which lasts to sunset, is the hour in which prayers are responded. Therefore, it is required to pray Almighty Allah insistently at that hour. It has been also narrated that this hour begins when half of the sun disk sets and the other half only remains visible. Lady F¡§imah al-Zahr¡', peace be upon her, used to pray Almighty Allah at this hour so that her prayers be answered. It is also recommended to say the following litany that is reported from the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his Household:

� إ�ال �ل1ه� إ ال� ان�ك� ب�ح� !sub¦¡naka l¡ il¡ha ill¡antaGlory be to You! There is no god save You س�

ن�ان� م� ي�ا ن�ان� ح� !y¡ ¦ann¡nu y¡ mann¡nuO All-tender! O All-bestowerي�ا

ال و� او�ات� م� ٱلس� ٱ

y¡ bad¢`a alssam¡w¡ti wal-ar¤iO Fashioner of the heavens and the earth!

y¡ dhaljal¡li wal-ikr¡miO Lord of Majesty and Honor.
