主從式架構

主從式架構的軟體多採三層式的設計(three-tier design)，包括：1.表現層客戶端──此層軟體包括使用親和力高的圖形使用者介面(graphic user interface，簡稱GUI)，其功能乃是將使用者藉由滑鼠、鍵盤的請求，傳遞給應用程式。

2.應用伺服器與軟體(application server)──會計財務軟體存放於此伺服器。此一層的軟體主要乃將輸入資料編輯成一定格式、分類、並予以處理，若有使用資料庫管理軟體者，此層軟體之功能還需與資料庫及主機連線服務軟體相連結，以便自主機中提供資料給使用者，或根據使用者要求變更異動資料庫。

3.資料庫伺服器與軟體(database server)──在此層存放著許多資訊，此層軟體主要在管理資料庫資料檔案的存取及作批次處理(batch processing)的工作。
