Portfolio Statement Please complete this section with a short statement (100-150) words outlining why you have applied for your chosen programme(s). What inspires you? What are your aspirations for the future? I have applied for this course because it combines my two passions; art and design and gaming. Art and design enables me to view the world from different angles. It allows me to send a message or express thoughts more easily than English language can. It allows me to take different ideas, fantasies and emotions and convert them into physical images or models. As an avid gamer I know that video gaming is an exciting, growing and developing field. I understand how games commit players, down to the awe inspiring aesthetics, compelling, interesting story and the characterization and animation which work in harmony to create a truly immersive and special experience. My dream is to work in the creative or artistic field of game design and I feel this course will help to develop my skills and understanding enabling me to succeed.

Design Project 1 – Screen 1

Here is an art and design project where I had to design a shelter under the theme of Construction and deconstruction.

I started by doing some research into artists and designers as well as movements.

I also began to draw up early concepts, themes and develop some prototypes.

I then began to experiment with materials and create some models to help visualise my final product.

I then finally produced my finished model. Adding small details and etchings

Design Project 2 – Screen 1

Greenwich and Trinity Buoy Wharf Project

To start this project I started dong studies of the areas of Greenwich and Trinity buoy wharf a swell as doing research into the history.

For this project we visited Greenwich and Trinity Buoy Wharf and had to create a brief inspired from the two locations

I then began developing ideas and visualising different possibilities and outcomes

I also refined a brief and client to give the project some more direction.

Finally I experimented with the materials and tried many different methods of achieving the desired looks, until I was satisfied with the result.

Design Task (Film Poster) – Screen 1

This poster I developed for my graphic design course. The task was to completely recreate a movie poster using budget elements. I did this by using children’s toys to represent the different parts of the poster such as the globe and characters. I also used different paint brush effects and blending to make it look as close to the original as possible.

Design Task (Film Poster) – Screen 2

This a poster I created for a movie not yet released after watching a trailer. I have presented my poster as a billboard in a virtual location.

Design Task (Film Poster) – Screen 3

This is a poster concept I developed from a stock image of a glacier for the (then) upcoming star wars movie. I used a wide range of tools to achieve this such as smudging the water to give the illusion of ripples on my imposed background.
