So,Ibringuptheconceptoflinkbaiting.Whatisit?Linkbaitisusedtodescribe
viral,linkablecontentdesignedtoattractthousandsoflinksandisrecognizedas
oneofthemosteffectivewaystobuildlinks–andrelevanceforasite.Solink
baitingisreallybuildinglink‐friendlycontent.It’sjustanothernameforit–or
moreaccurately,asubsetofit.
Thetraditionalwayofgettinglinkscirca2004andbeforeinvolvedcontacting
otherrelevantwebsites,emailingthewebmastersandaskingforalink.You’d
contactpeopleyouknow–vendors,partners,customers,suppliersand
“reciprocate”links.Youwouldcarefullyexplaininyouremailthatlinkingtoyou
wouldbeworthwhilefortheirvisitorsandbeneficialtothemaswell…andyou’d
spendhundredsofhoursdoingit.
