Sheetfed Offset Printing TipsMOISTURE: Keep product in protective wrapping until acclimated to pressroom humidity. Cover skids of printed and converted product to prevent moisture changes.

TEMPERATURE: above 120° F may cause melting of magnetic coating.

INK: uses standard inks.

SPRAY POWDER: 30% more recommended. If aqueous coating is used, spray powder is not needed.

FEEDING – FIRST TIME: advance one sheet by hand to identify areas where metal attracts the sheet. If found, cover with another sheet of MagneCote® or other material thick enough to reduce magnetic pull.

NEXPRESS: call 866-731-0728 for a free shield that makes feeding easy.

FEEDING: fan sheets to separate and keep feeder lifts to minimum weight. May need to increase feeder pump or vacuum levels.

SENSORS: Clean sensors before printing. Also, the black background may cause sensor problems. Do not turn off the double sheet sensor. Consult the press manufacturer.

MAKE READY: off impression, use 10 pt or 12 pt C2S as make ready sheets to adjust color and register before running MagneCote®.

PAPER FEED DIRECTION: feeds in either direction. Determine direction by form layout and press limitations for maximum efficiency.

P SENSOR: photo eye must be on and uncovered.

DOUBLE SHEET DETECTOR: electronic off/manual on.

SIDE GUIDE: photo eye on, cut-out of one guide only.

RF/LF SENSORS: photo eyes on (can turn off). Some presses unable to turn off.

SENSORS BETWEEN UNITS: missing sheet detectors must be on and clean.

RUNNING SPEEDS: Minimum/maximum determined by press operator. Test slow speeds first, then increase gradually.

SUCTION SLOWDOWN WHEELS: normal operating conditions. Adjust as necessary.

IR DRYERS/UV LAMPS: use lowest possible drying and curing temperatures/rates. High temperatures can melt magnetic material to grippers, especially in an extended delivery.

DELIVERY PILE HEIGHTS: Limit number of sheets per lift as determined by finish, racking, weight, and spray powder settings.
