Compared to last month: Holstein steers weighing under 800 lbs traded mostly 20.00 -30.00 lower. Steers weighing over 800 lbs traded steady. Trading activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. The supply consisted of about 89% Holstein steers with the balance being mostly Holstein heifers and jersey steers. About 21% of the supply weighed over 600 lbs. Next Special Holstein feeder cattle sale will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014

STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTINGCompared to last week: Slaughter lambs were too thinly traded for an adequate market test. Slaughter ewes traded mostly 2.00-10.00 lower. Bucks were mostly steady on a thin test. Feeder lambs traded 3.00 -6.00 higher. Slaughter kids traded 2.00-4.00 lower. Slaughter nannies and billies mostly 2.00 -5.00 higher. Trade activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. In the sheep supply 23% slaughter lambs, 43% feeder lambs, 34% slaughter ewes and bucks and the balance replacement ewes. The goat supply consisted of 70% slaughter kids, 30% slaughter nannies and the balance slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calves traded mostly 10.00 – 15.00 higher, with several large strings of grazing type calves on offer. Feeder steers and heifers traded mostly steady on

a light test. Buyer demand was very good on moderate to active trading activity The supply included approximately 95% feeder cattle with the balance consisting of replacement stock. In the feeder supply 51% steers and 49% heifers. In the feeder supply approximately 36% weighed over 600 lbs.

Wednesday, November 5, 2014Over 500 head of slaughter cattle sold today. The market was higher today than last week on all classes of cattle. Fleshy beef cows ranged $118.50-125.00, lean beef cows ranged 113.50-119.50. Lean Holstein cows averaged right around $96/cwt, and smooth Holsteins averaged $100/cwt. There was an abundant amount of quality beef and Holstein cows today with highlights including lean beef cows from Talmage, UT and fleshy beef cows from Grover and Roggen. The bull market steady on the heavier end, with leaner and lighter weight bulls bringing more than last week. Calves from Talmage, UT, Coalmont, Kremmling, and Kersey were the highlight of today’s feeder sale.
