Starting two new, entirely dierent worshipservices is exciting to many and may also bechallenging to some. It will certainly challengeus to step outside o our normal routine. Thisis what Todd Rhodes wrote about in his recentMondayMorningInsight.com newsletter underthe title oThe Comfort Zone: Stepping Out to
do Extraordinary Things. He said:I love it when I hear o churches and organiza-
tions that are stepping out in aith to achieve thingsthat most people would think were impossible. In the last couple o weeks, Ive ound numerousexamples o people jumping way out o the com-ort zone to attempt huge things or the Kingdom. Here are just a couple that come to mind.
Liberty University recently announced aninitiative to plant 500 new churches in the nextve years. Imagine 500 brand new churches, with resh vitality and resh vision or reaching adying world!
In a totally dierent part o the country,Pastor John Bishop and Living Hope Church inVancouver, WA recently announced plans to startsix brand new campuses ON EASTER. Thats sixbrand new churches starting in just one Sunday!(Living Hope already maxes out SEVEN weekendservices at their main campus). This God-sizedvision will become a reality next month and theresult will be many people coming to aith!
What have you done that caused you to stepout o your comort zone lately? I love this quoterom Perry Noble: God couldnt give a RIP aboutyour comortHe simply wants you to be obedi-entand at times that means acing things head onthat scare you and completely take you out o yourcomort zone.
Maybe God has given you a dream that scares youto death. Perhaps youve been staying in your comortzone ar too long. Maybe God doesnt want you tostart 500 churches in ve years; or six new campusesin one day but what DOES he want you to do?
The announcement o new targeted worshipservices at First Federated Church opens up thepossibility o several exciting opportunities. Ser-vices will oer dierent worship styles, environ-ments/settings, and elements such as drama, video, dialogues, and much more. Multiple service styles
give you the opportunity to invite your co-work-ers, neighbors, riends, and amily members to achurch that will allow them to be open to placingtheir trust in Jesus or eternal lie.
Multiple services also oer increased opportu-nities or you to make a contribution to ministryright here on Sunday morning. What DOES Godwant you to do? Additional services give us the
opening to engage more people in taking an activerole in many important ministries on Sundaymorning. Essentially, we are immediately doublingour volunteer ministry beginning April 6. And weare doubling the opportunity available or you touse your God-given gits and experiences to pro-vide excellent worship experiences or our guests.
Depending on which time you choose to attend, here are a number o ways you can join in helpingus oer God-honoring worship services:
aA passionate part o our connection to God
comes through our worship experiences. Addyour vocal and musical skills, drama and artistic
abilities, and creative media talents to help othersconnect to God. Put your artistic talent behindimproving our impact in communicating to thoseinfuenced by our ministry.
Cmp sppWe have over 240,000 square eet o acilities,
not to mention our grounds and parking lots. Manyhands make light work, and you can use your skillsand elbow grease to keep our operation runningsmoothly.
Chd & YhWe place a high value and signicant ministry
resources in partnering with parents raising chil-
dren and youth in a godly manner. From our tiniestbabies to our graduating high school seniors, weoer a variety o tremendously rewarding ways oryou to invest in the uture.
G scHelp make all o our guests eel important when
they join us. By providing directions, inormationabout us and our activities, or helping them meetothers, you can help our guests eel at home.

In the 1940s FFCs young-married class was called Workers

the years.
Twenty-some years later, Dylhos daughter, Dorothy, at-
tended Wheaton College, majoring in the language and cultureo Germany. During her senior year, she enrolled in Wheatons
German summer program, and took time out to be rereshed at
a Christian-campus retreat and remained in Germany. There
she met and later marr ied Peter Baumgarten. (Among Frau
Baumgartens activities or the coming years was teaching
English to German students.)
Twenty-some years later, Sarah Baumgarten ollowed
Mothers example: She attended Wheaton College in the USA,
met and later marr ied a oreigner, David Abuhl, grandson o
Loren and Marilyn! They now reside in South Carolina.
Both widows, Irene Dylho now resides in a care center in

mother wonders rom time

it through the day without
burning up and burning out
rom the correction, teaching,

required to be SUPER MOM with SUPERPOWER, able to leap

that lasts and keeps her on ocus. How and where does a woman
go to be rereshed when she has responsibilities at hand? Most
every mother knows this to be true, that these are the longest
days and the shortest years with her children. So come be encour-

that will last a lietime!

t M m h oympc vgVoice o the Martyrs | Beijing, ChinaTen minutes rom the Olympic Village police welded Pastor
Hua Huiqi inside his home. They do not want to let him out.
What is going on?
The year 2007 was a year o harsh crackdowns against
Christians, in preparation or the Olympics. Foreign missionar-
ies were expelled. Christian leaders were jailed. House church
members were threatened and told to give up their aith. Bibles
were conscated and Christian bookstores closed.
Pastor Hua, 45, knows exactly how the government eels
about his aith. For the last 10 years Hua has been arrested
several times a year by the Public Security Bureau (PSB) or
disturbing the social order. This past year police have harassedhis amily as well.
Hua and his 60-member house church have a ministry o as-
sisting poor and vulnerable people in southwest Beijing. Authori-
ties target Hua because he reuses to register his congregation
as a state church, as his ministry would be controlled by the
government. He remains active in the illegal house church. It is
better to ollow God than the government, says Hua.
For a week, Hua, his wie and elderly ather were held cap-
tive. Ater 7 days, the Chongwen District police escorted Hua
to a dierent police district temporarily. When the Chongwen
police saw the other police encroaching on their territory, they
attacked them, angry they were bringing the troublemaker Hua
back to their area. About 50 people beat Hua into a state o
unconsciousness. He was rushed to the hospital and lapsed into
a coma or 3 days. More than two dozen police disguised as doc-
tors stood around his room to prevent people rom visiting him or
taking pictures.
Hua awoke and recognized the deputy chie o police standing
by his bed wearing a white doctors coat. His rst words were,
It doesnt matter whether I live or die, as long as Christ shines
in me and the gospel increases. Ater he recovered, he was
released rom the hospital, but at press time, Hua remains under
house arrest in his home.

J Jm 2008There will be a citywide eort to have a Christian music
concert every day o June again this year. Do you have a talent
that you would like to share? Music (solos or groups), comedy,
drama, magic acts or just people to go and help with set ups and
clean ups are all needed. Lets start planning now how FFC can
be involved in this outreach to our community.
At the heart o the June Jam mission is a desire to bring the
upliting message o Gods love to the world around us. We are
doing this by meeting people where they are, rom street dancesto amusement parks, swimming pools to coee houses. And the
musical styles are as varied as the venues, rom southern gospel
to serious rock and everything in between. Call John Porter,
255.2122, i you have questions or would like more inormation.
